Other mistake: The vlog entry that leads to the finale is #47. Six months pass, the caption say, but in the finale Stephanie is posting her vlog #290. That's more than 40 entries per month, and Stephanie always keeps her entries daily throughout the movie even under the craziest circumstances.

Other mistake: Stephanie's vlog gains over 85,000 subscribers in the space of the minutes it takes for her to livestream from her home to Emily's house. While Youtube has had much larger sudden increases in followers, this is not Youtube, but a private blog that begins from 34,000 subscribers. It seems quite unlikely that even by word of mouth it could have the critical mass to grow by 200% in such a short time, considering that it reached those 30k with a murder story that had media coverage, and it takes then 6 months for her to hit 1 million afterwards, with the amazing scoop and juicy media story that follows. It should also be noted that her figures when she asks to identify the Kia are ridiculously low; she manages to find the same car the police can't find thanks to her channel that has a whopping 1,013 subscribers worldwide at the time.

Continuity mistake: After the police raid at Darren's, Emily is talking while she moves the gun around. During certain cuts ("manipulate the system", "I mean, sort of perfect", "f**king crazy, haven't you?") she has her gun tilted in opposite directions. (01:47:30)

Continuity mistake: When the SWAT team bursts into Darren's house, he puts his hands up, holds nothing, and yet somehow the packet of crisps appears on the table by him. (01:47:20)

Continuity mistake: When Blake Lively's body double runs through the patch of woods towards the lake, the sole of her feet are entirely covered in dirt. When she jumps from the pier though, her feet are much cleaner. (01:33:35)

Continuity mistake: When she's having martinis on Emily's gravestone, when it's Hope's turn to serve them Stephanie walks around the tomb; the lemon twist is in a different spot of the glass between shots. (01:28:55)

Revealing mistake: Stephanie is browsing on the library computer the copy of The Cherry Creek Observer. On the page at the right end of the screen you can see under a title about an assault, a copy-pasted article about autism. (01:20:20)

The news at the very top right of the front page, by the title "Town treasurer celebrates his re-election after disputed elections" features a mugshot of the director of the movie, Paul Feig. Continuity mistake: Inside the McLanden residence, Stephanie sits in front of the mother and starts "Your daughter Faith..." Jean Smart 's hand is in front of her face, but it's in front of her chest at the cut. (01:16:55)

Continuity mistake: Stephanie holds the Squaw Lake shirt that Diana Hyland threw at her; she holds it in close-up with her hands well apart, stretching it. In the wider angles though she holds it with the hands closer and supporting it with her forearms. (01:12:25)

Continuity mistake: When Diana Hyland kicks the box across the floor, she has nothing in her right hand, which is the hand that holds the bottle in the previous and following shot. (01:12:15)

Revealing mistake: Stephanie receives a call just after she opened the envelope Nicky gave her, with the brother-f**ker picture. When she picks up the phone, not only it shows the Canadian provider Rogers, but also a time of 4:31 PM, when she just got back home with the kids (who don't do a full time, Sean mentioned 2 PM at the funeral as a time when Emily would drunk-rant at Nicky), plus she still finds Sean busy at work after that despite the city being one hour and a half away. Revealing mistake: In the sequence with Steph's car spinning out of control once she inadvertently rushes the red light, her son Miles is screaming scared, but the baby actor is laughing. (01:02:50)

Continuity mistake: At dinner in front of the very crunchy Caesar salad, Nicky says he saw his mom, and when contradicted drops an F bomb and storms off. Miles is putting his fork down at the F-U but in the next shot he's holding it nice and tall. (00:54:55)

Continuity mistake: When Summerville stands and walks away, Stephanie tells him his theory does not hold water; her hair suddenly is combed behind her shoulders, as opposed to the front as earlier. And a few cuts later, when she praises the quality of the local heroin, she puts her hands on her hips, but is shown with her arms open in foreground at the cut. (00:52:25)

Continuity mistake: When Detective Summerville asks Stephanie how is Sean's grief, Anna Kendrick's hand keeps changing position at every cut; two fingers under her chin, one, two again and in the same shot lowered to her breast, back under chin again. (00:51:05)

Continuity mistake: In the close-up of Sean's phone when the police calls, the time on the top of the screen is 11 AM. When barely 20 seconds later he is telling Stephanie that he's going to Michigan, the screen of his phone is lit and the time is 2:42. The phone also changed hands in the revealing cut. (00:39:50)

Continuity mistake: When the phone rings with the call about Emily being found, in close-up the phone is very close to the wicker basket, in the wider shot there's a big distance to allow Henry Golding to put down his glass in between phone and basket. (00:39:50)

Revealing mistake: After the report on the Kia, Sean receives a call from the Warfield police department. Sean is a professor in Connecticut, but his mobile carrier as shown in the close-up of the phone is Rogers, a Canadian company. The film was shot in Ontario. (00:39:50)
