Factual error: In the flashback of 6 years-old Magnum paddling with his dad before he leaves for the war in Korea, Mr. Magnum is wearing a Rolex GMT Master with the Pepsi bezel, a model designed in 1955, well after the war. (00:12:05)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Continuity mistake: TC is driving his team of youngsters for the 4th of July game; in the aerial shot of the van, it is driving a different road than the one shown in the interior view, and it's driving on the leftmost lane while it had cars on both sides of it and the right railing has been closer. The Dukes of Hazzard (2005)
Continuity mistake: Bo is waiting for Luke's escapade with Laurie, and meanwhile listens to Al Unser Jr.'s story narrated by Laurence Fishburne. He checks out of the case of the tape propping it against the left or the right of the steering wheel depending on the camera angle. (00:02:40)

Other mistake: A plastic bag with a wallet and a watch, placed right next to a claymore mine when it explodes with a whole car, would hardly stay perfectly intact, and completely untouched by the police when they already towed the car to the impound lot.

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Other mistake: Magnum spots a patrol car inside the impound lot. He and TC duck down, and they are at the side of the car. The same side the camera is at, when it gives us a view of the patrol car passing by. It's plain daylight, and they officers have to be completely blind to Miss those two big dudes lying by the side of the car in a spot they have a clean eyesight on. (00:36:20)

Other mistake: The whole Ferrari/pick-up truck shenanigans of this episode conveniently forget Higgins having usage of a perfectly good Mercedes. (00:47:00)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Revealing mistake: During Magnum's fight with the security guard, the guard sells the punch a mile before it hits, and in the end supposedly goes KO, but is still breathing hard and moving. (00:42:30)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Audio problem: When Ox punches Magnum in the final act, the one oonf!-ing in pain is seemingly Denny Miller and not Tom Selleck. The canned sound when he goes KO a few seconds later is equally disjointed. (00:42:10)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Plot hole: Magnum is defending his client from the detective's interview, and doing so he says "The bomb that blew up Lindsey's car could've been planted at any time yesterday." Now, Magnum had no way to know that the murder happened through a car bomb; he just learned of Bart Lindsey's death from Higgins, and he rushed to the beach without getting additional info, nor seemingly this info was given by the police crew in the first place. but he knows! Magnum is obviously the murderer. Not really, but it's the kind of statement that gives a murderer away in traditional whodunits, generally. (00:31:00)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Continuity mistake: Magnum is eating a banana and asking Rick to do his job for him. Rick says "Then you're not sure that this Lindsey guy knocked his partner off" and folds his arms, which are again extended as before after the cut. (00:27:25)

Revealing mistake: In the car explosion, the dummy inside the car is actually quite well done, but the camera lingers too long on it giving away the complete lack of any movement before the blast. (00:27:50)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Continuity mistake: TC is taking plenty snapshots of Rick while he gets set for lunchtime at the club. In the wide angles the wind puffs up the tablecloths, while in TC is snapping away in close-ups with the cloth undisturbed. (00:23:00)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Continuity mistake: Magnum meets Florence Russell clearing out of the office. He tells her that they are looking for a place where to put the equipment, and she shrugs saying "It's allright." She had a frame in hand that disappears to the opposite side of the paper bags she had her hand on. (00:21:30)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Other mistake: This episode is the season 2 finale, but was obviously produced early, with numerous shots from it appearing in the opening. A big deal is made out of Magnum borrowing "the Rolls Royce of cameras", but he has used routinely the camera throughout the season. Higgins even asks him if he needs instructions about the various lenses, when one of the previous episodes involved as sub-plot replacing one of the priciest ones, and the feature-length episode had a bit about it as well.

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Continuity mistake: The announcer is describing the first bikini. The model, seen through the screen, slips the cover-up robe in her left hand, but at the cut that hand is free and goes on her hip. When she makes her exit from the stage, the same robe goes from her hip to over her shoulder. (00:01:45)

The Elmo Ziller Story - S2-E20
Other mistake: There are spotty areas in the plot of the episode; in particular, it's never explained how can Elmo make an appearance at the newspaper office - but at the same time also be considered dead, and Higgins be at the hotel - and who would be riding his bronco leading others to believe he's around.

The Elmo Ziller Story - S2-E20
Other mistake: Elmo tells Magnum that the attempt to his life consisted of "three shots through the windshield before the truck turned over, caught fire." The opening scene had just one rifle shot, not three. (00:15:45)
