Continuity mistake: During the hospital room dinner, Savannah reacts to Magnum burning his fingers by raising her hand from the table two times in two different moments. (00:34:30)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Stupidity: Everyone refuses to believe Waldo and treats him as a complete fraud once Magnum finds out that he was discharged from the CIA a couple years before, but it's rather preposterous; the man has been a CIA agent as he mentioned, and for over 20 years. That is not like discovering that he lied about everything, and nobody would shrug off everything he says without a second thought.

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Continuity mistake: Holding the others at gunpoint, Waldo fetches the map from the table two times differently in two separate shots. (00:32:00)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Continuity mistake: When Waldo's unbelievable story gets into the President stage, Rick has his hands on his hips in the wide shot, arms folded in the close-up. (00:31:40)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Continuity mistake: When Higgins suggests "the standard double mirror device", TC's hand position changes between shots (fingers entwined, and then not). (00:29:30)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Character mistake: Waldo's database entry from the CIA archive is quite odd. The most striking part is the "Basketball scholarship, 1983." Despite the way Rick reads it and reacts to it, the only way it could make sense if it referred to Waldo's son, or he'd have gotten it at the ripe age of 42 and 20 years after graduating from Yale. But it makes no sense that it would be there on his file, and contrasts with the succinct file on Skuler. (00:25:00)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Other mistake: When Magnum makes a typo with the "Torpo Corporation" name, he types "Torbo"; B and P are nowhere near. And to fix it he types a B, and backspaces. That's not how it worked, ever. (00:27:40)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Continuity mistake: Overnight, Magnum uses the modem on his own. In the close-up when he picks up the receiver, the glasses on top of the tissue box are missing. (00:27:25)

Audio problem: When Rick turns towards Magnum asking "Basketball?" his lips still move in the next shot without a sound. (00:25:00)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Character mistake: Rick says "It's working, here it comes" a second too early, when the kid hasn't finished typing the name and hasn't launched the search just yet. (00:24:40)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Factual error: Even if we ignore the Hollywood magic of the 80s when you can just get into the CIA database with an Atari operated by a kid, the modem also turns the hospital TV on. That's quite the omnipotent device.

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Continuity mistake: In the first shot of Magnum's room during Rick's visit with Waldo's codes, the modem is to the left of the phone, along the left side of the bedstand. In close-up the modem and cables take the whole width of the bedstand, horizontally placed. (00:23:30)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Continuity mistake: Rick bends in front of Waldo reiterating that it "A little hard" to believe that he's with the CIA. In the reverse shot his arms are lower than the previous shot. (00:19:25)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Other mistake: Higgins is outraged about a precious 1923 sketch being stolen by Rick's friend. Then again, that invaluable (as he puts it) piece of paper was stored in an open rack, rolled up with a rubber band. That's hardly how such an antiquity would be preserved by someone who finds it this valuable.

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Other mistake: The guy rummaging through Waldo's stuff in the room does not get alerted by their loud chat outside the room, nor the door unlocking, not even their steps; he just turns around suddenly when they both are in the room, standing still in silence and looking at him, who has his back turned to them. Must have had eyes on the back of his head. (00:09:10)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Audio problem: Waldo admitted the breaking and entering. Getting in the car with Rick he says "Would you just listen to me for one second?" but his lips do not move. (00:07:40)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Continuity mistake: Magnum is in the hospital. There's a kid playing Defender on an Atari with Rick. In the close-up, the cord of the joystick dangles to the left, very visible, but it is not in the other shots. (00:04:00)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Continuity mistake: During the initial infiltration attempt, the little guy puts his hand on the railing once the alarm rings. His hand is on the inner part of the top, but when the guards storm the front porch guns in hand, he has it flat on top and moves to inner only a second later. At the very end of the scene he also has a guard pointing an automatic weapon at his head, but he was several steps behind in the wide angle. (00:03:10)

Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Other mistake: Luther decks one of the old ladies with a punch. When he strolls past them after slipping Magnum a mickey, he looks back at them, and one in particular, who is sporting a patch. It is not the same lady he punched earlier. (00:17:35 - 00:21:30)

Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Other mistake: The guesthouse scene with Magnum and Luther opens with a prolonged gag about Magnum "finally" getting an answering machine. It is said that it's the first time he gets one. But in the season 1 finale, "Beauty Knows No Pain", Magnum's client Barbara Terranova commented that the message on Magnum's answering machine mentioned the club. (00:03:25 - 00:18:00)
