Continuity mistake: When Coach Bell is talking to Dorsey's substitute and his wife at the party, the couple is in a different position in the two different camera angles mainly used; she casts a shadow on him in a different spot, with sunlight on his arms when the camera is over Bill Edwards' shoulder, and not in the other angle. One of them is very recognisable for her circlet in her hair, sporting purple and gold bikini and a ripped physique. Continuity mistake: In the opening scene the position of the girl in the inflatable chair is not coherent in the various views. In the establishing shot of the pool, she is in the corner of the part opposite the house, but then she is in a diagonally opposite spot, and later when Morita is clearing his throat to give his speech she has two different guys (not too far apart from each other but still in distinct position) by her feet. Continuity mistake: After his speech, the guys toss Jack Metro (Pat Morita) in the pool. Mrs. Eleanor Greeley is present in the faraway shot, and she has her shades in her right hand, but it cuts to a close-up of her going through her sexy chewing schtick holding them in her left hand. (00:02:50)

Other mistake: One of the trivia questions asks "Which one of the following skills is not used by the Ikki brothers?", but it is wrong. The possible choices are 3 skills not used by Ikki or Shun, and the 4th is a skill from Shun, Ikki's brother.

Continuity mistake: Joan Allen is on the couch with Kevin Costner, watching TV. Her daughter come back from school and tells her "You're gonna get her yourself tomorrow." Joan Allen lowers the hand with the cigarette, but it's still up in the next shot as if nothing happened. (00:07:00)

Other mistake: Inevitably the officers have to concisely give to the quirky inspector a quick profile of the suspect. For their "background checks" they read from profile sheets. It is unclear if they wrote them themselves or not; sometimes especially in earlier seasons they seem to receive them. These sheets contain sentences often written in a rather informal tone that does not fit the format, and in fact often you can see that whatever the officer is saying in casual tone as if it were part of the dialogue is written verbatim on the sheet itself. Example; 6-8, when Florence says "He's big on family values and promoting education in the community", with her line already readable word for word on the sheet in Jack's hand in the previous shot.

Revealing mistake: The 'mysterious stalker' is looking at Magnum opening the door of Ferrari for Margo, through a camera lens. When later we see the photo developed, it does not match that angle at all. (00:24:20 - 00:32:40)

Factual error: The bad guy is called "Marchese di Como", the Marquis of Como, but as perhaps it is more known internationally now than in the 80s, Como is at the very North of Italy and nowhere near Sicily. The Marquis/Marchese's henchman is called "Segundo" (pronounced as such and written in the credits), but it's a Spanish name, not an Italian one.

Factual error: When Magnum first approaches the Ferrari of the mobster, the front license plate is ZZG A 532. When he drives off, the back license plate can be seen, and it's 574572. Neither is a valid Italian license plate for the time period, it should also be noted. (00:02:35 - 00:07:10)

Plot hole: Magnum leaves the estate on the Ferrari leaving Katrina behind. He joins Margo at the drama lesson. Somehow, Katrina manages to be there at the same time as he is - without really knowing where he is in fact going, and it is her first day in Hawaii - and scratches his car in a temper tantrum.

Revealing mistake: Magnum finds the unpleasant surprise of a large scratch on Robin's Ferrari. In close-up he runs his hand along the "bloody gouge", as Higgins later calls it, but it's a badly constructed prop; look at the turn signal, tiny and circular, nothing like the larger rectangular one of the car.
