The Countess - S1-E4
Continuity mistake: Rockford mistakes his kidnappers for cops and tells them that they'd better have a warrant. While he elaborates on that, there's a cut and the pursuing cars are gone from the back window view. (00:38:30)

The Countess - S1-E4
Continuity mistake: At the police station, Beth Davenport dares the sexist Lieutenant to book Jim for murder. James Garner's shadow is several inches shorter than the corner of the bulletin board. The shadow is much different in that area during the single close-up that follows. (00:25:30)

The Countess - S1-E4
Continuity mistake: Outside the police station, Rockford talks with his lawyer. Beth Davenport in close-ups is talking through the car window that is clear of any other presence, but Jim is leaning against it in the other shots. (00:27:00)

Plot hole: Rockford and Carl Brego are punching and kicking each other on the beach. Someone shoots him down with a rifle. The INSTANT Rockford goes to check out if he's still breathing, two people randomly happen to walk on him popping over from behind a rock as they were having a super casual and amused chat, but see Rockford by the shirtless brute and make a horrified face. Later in the episode the two identify Rockford and say that it looked like the two were fighting. Their facial expressions at the time don't make sense as depicted. Even if we assume that they did not see anything at all and they played it up/filled the blanks in their mind later, the two are not deaf and yet they were not perturbed or curious in the slightest after the loud bang of a gunshot. The way the scene was shot, the only thing tipping them off about anything was seeing Rockford over the corpse (which had barely a small dot of blood visible at the time and would hardly tip anyone off at first sight). The Countess - S1-E4
Continuity mistake: Rockford is chasing the white Porsche. In the shot right before the close-up when the police siren is heard, the pursuing Rockford passes by a teal pick-up and road work equipment. Rockford keeps driving through a mostly straight road for a while, and eventually pulls over, looking with anger at the Porsche driving off...and past the pickup and equipment from before. The Countess - S1-E4
Factual error: Two cops (the bowtie guy that cuffs Rockford and the one that watches him being taken away from his trailer) report to HQ saying that the protagonist is a suspect for a 157, to which Rockford reacts saying he did not murder anyone (and it is in fact what he is accused of). But homicide is in CA police code 187, not 157. A 157 is an entirely different felony. (00:21:00)

The Countess - S1-E4
Continuity mistake: Rockford is on the beach trying to intimidate Carl Brego. The wind messes up Dick Gautier's hair lifting it on the left side, but only in the frontal shots. (00:17:20)

The Countess - S1-E4
Continuity mistake: At the party, Rockford and The Countess are inside, and she's telling him about the early boyfriends she had in Chicago. She asks him if he's following, and he says yes. James Garner projects a marked shadow on the wall next to him, but while Deborah Ryder was talking, his shadow was much more to the right, past the barometer. (00:12:30)

Audio problem: The Countess' husband looks annoyed at the teenager frolicking in the pool. The sound does not match Sally's mouth. (00:10:30)

The Countess - S1-E4
Continuity mistake: Rockford pours liquor to The Countess in a plastic cup; whoever is doing that in close-up is not wearing a wristwatch, James Garner in the rest of the scene does. (00:07:30)

The Countess - S1-E4
Continuity mistake: In close-up, Rockford's TV set is placed against a plain yellow plaster wall, but the wide view reveals it's in front of a window in his trailer. There's a tape player on top of it too, which was entirely absent in the close-up composite shot. (00:06:50)

The Countess - S1-E4
Other mistake: Rockford films the car driving off, then there are a few seconds of pause, with James Garner not keeping the camera still anymore and tilting it in different directions, before someone unseen bellows at him "What are you doing?" When he reviews the footage with his client in his trailer, the voice arrives instantly and there's no jerking the camera around. (00:06:20)

The Countess - S1-E4
Other mistake: The first view of The Countess from Rockford's camera is at an impossible angle that does not match the position on the terrain (nor the footage we see later). (00:03:30)

The Dark and Bloody Ground - S1-E3
Character mistake: Clyde Russell tells Rockford to meet him at his place in "Ambazac Road in Bel Air." The name of the street in real life is Ambazac Way. (00:38:20)

Trivia: The bio on the back of the book (unsure when it was supposed to be printed, let's assume that copy is from that same year) says that the author was born 58 years ago. The man we see dead at the beginning of the episode looks several years younger. The picture used at the back of the book is from actor Guy Williams, who was almost 50 at the time.

The Dark and Bloody Ground - S1-E3
Visible crew/equipment: At the race track, Rockford sits down with the two party hosts and Elliot Malcolm. Clyde Russell's sunglasses reflect set lights, and her lenses reflect equipment (and a distinct lack of James Garner) in close-ups. (00:33:45)

Revealing mistake: Rockford puts the newspaper snippet in front of her client. The poorly constructed prop has the first 2 paragraphs a perfect repeat of each other. (00:28:25)

The Dark and Bloody Ground - S1-E3
Revealing mistake: In another attempt to his life, Rockford has to somehow stop his car when his brakes have been sabotaged. However, at the end of its run the brakes are activated, suddenly locking the back wheels, causing the car to stop, and not the slow-down determined by the dirt mound. (00:25:15)

The Dark and Bloody Ground - S1-E3
Continuity mistake: Jim is back home, and is talking to his dad. Rocky says a firm "No" when Jim says that the guy in the truck was trying to kill him; he points his right index finger as he says the word. Reverse shot, and it's the left index. (00:23:30)

The Dark and Bloody Ground - S1-E3
Revealing mistake: Chased by the truck, Rockford passes a brown Chevy Malibu that was bottling him. At the wheel of the truck there's a stuntman with a 'stache and not the same actor in the close-ups. (00:17:00)
