The One With Joey's Big Break - S5-E22
Question: When they are playing the game I dont even understand half the questions, maybe they are American-based, for example who are Simon and Garfunkel? Any explanations would help.
Answer: Simon and Garfunkel were singers Art Garfunkel and Paul Simon, and they were a folk/rock duo popular in the 1960s and early 1970s. They sang "Bridge over troubled water" and "Mrs. Robinson," but split up due to personal and creative differences. They had since rejoined with a recent tour together. A quick Google search would probably tell you more.
Question: In an interview in the Extended DVD Peter Jackson says at one time that they had cast the character of Aragorn "a little too young" and changed their decision to Viggo Mortensen on pretty short notice. Just wondering, does anyone know who they had originally cast as Aragorn?
Answer: Stuart Townsend was originally cast as Aragorn but after filming a few scenes it was deemed he was a little too young and Viggo Mortenson was cast as Aragorn.
Question: I really don't get the ending of the movie. Nothing actually changes, the Matrix still exists, making humans prisoners until they are used as batteries and Zion still exists. But wasn't the whole point of Zion and its inhabitants to free people so they aren't used as power cells? The machines are still using people as energy and no one is bothered by that? Doesn't that make all three movies kind of pointless?
Chosen answer: The Architect says to the Oracle in the final scene that those who wish to be freed will be. He is, naturally, referring to those humans still inside the Matrix. It is reasonable to assume that the people of Zion will continue to contact those inside the Matrix, and now that the Architect has promised they will be freed without a struggle, there is no longer a reason for conflict between the machines and humans. Check out this link from a user review who explained it in very good detail. http://movies.yahoo.com/mvc/drv?mid=1808402448.
Question: When Kate, Luc, Charlie and Juliette are all on the beach, Kate introduces Luc to Charlie. Luc then says something in French (right after he says, "Sweetie-pie?") which isn't subtitled. Can anyone tell me what it is?
Answer: He says "enchanté" - French for "it's a pleasure to meet you".
Answer: "Maintenant je comprends tout." Now I understand everything.
Question: What ever happens to the red car that Jjaks buys from the used car lot? He gets pulled over by the cop, and we never see the car again. Why wouldn't he go back to get the car to go to Las Vegas, instead of getting a ride from the bible salesman? After all, he bought it with cash, it's not like it was stolen or anything.
Chosen answer: Yes, it does just vanish. It is understandable that we don't see it for the 2 remaining days of the main plot of the film. The car is impounded somewhere and Jjaks has a lot more to worry about than where the car is. He also has no money during those three days. A couple of possible explanations, excuses really : (1) the car was impounded by a private company, not the police, and Jjaks can't afford to get it back. (2) He did get it back. The Las Vegas scene happens 'several months later' and in that time Jjaks lost or sold the car.
Past Tense - S1-E4
Question: What time does Tru work her shift at the morgue? In this episode, she was at work when Marco scared her from under the sheet. Then she was eating dinner with Harrison. What time did they eat? Wasn't it already late at night by then? Then she was back at work - I guess a dinner break makes sense for a nighttime shift - and she met Luc. The second time the day happened, she was at work when Marco tried to scare her. Then she was walking somewhere with Harrison and she hadn't met Luc. Was this after the same dinner she had with Harrison the first time? Was she still going to meet Luc later?
Chosen answer: The next episode shows that Tru didn't meet Luc after all, even though she should have been in work by the time he showed up. I think the answer is that the writers don't actually know.
Question: Does anyone know what the small box Malfoy has in the Slytherin house scene (with Harry and Ron in disguise) is? Or whose it is?
Answer: That small box is just a present that another Slytherin got but accidentally left around and now Malfoy is stealing it. I believe it is just another way to show off his nastiness.
Question: Each time this movie is shown on in Brisbane Australia an important scene is not shown. The deletion is of the airplane landing at the airport and then trying to get air-borne again before the runway is destroyed. Why is this removed?
Answer: There are two versions of the film. A 'film' version which does not include this scene (and others) and a 'TV Miniseries' version. The miniseries version was made to run over two nights and extra scenes were shot to extend the running time.
Question: I was watching The Two Towers on DVD the other day and I am sure that I saw John Rhys Davies as one of the villagers that are helping to defend Helm's Deep. Is this true? It's not the spear-throwing Peter Jackson cameo - this character lifts a rock (or something) above his head and lets out a very John-like roar. Blink and you'll miss it.
Chosen answer: At what time? Peter Jackson's cameo (spear) is at 1:10:07 and producer Barry Osborne's (rock) is at 1:10:17. I couldn't spot another 'lift something over head and shout' shot.
Question: I am a big X-files fan, but there is something in this movie that I think I may have missed in the series - can someone help me out? We are told in the series that Mulder doesn't drink. One time when he is getting drunk in a hotel room on his own, it is because of a strange planetary alignment and he himself finds it odd that he is drinking. My question is, when did he abandon this and start going out and drowning his sorrows on his own? I'm confused - maybe I missed the memo?
Answer: Mulder has just hit rock bottom and is questioning just about everything at this point, so drinking is not really out of character.
Question: Who is Conrad? Harry Conick, Jr.'s character writes him a letter at the end, and there is a Conrad character listed in the credits, but I haven't been able to find him.
Answer: I thought that it was Peter Kurten (Foley) that broke in and left the book. However if it was Conrad, then he does not appear in the flesh in the film.
You are correct. I just rewatched this tonight on Tubi.
Answer: Conrad is the man that breaks into Helen's flat and leaves the book. Happens just over 1 hour into the film.
Answer: I don't think Conrad appears in the film. Earlier in the movie HC Jr says he has other "disciples"; Conrad seems to be the new recruit to replace the just-killed McNamara character.
The Suicide - S3-E15
Question: When George and Elaine go to see the psychic, the psychic tells George that she sees a Pauline. George gasps and says that his brother once impregnated a woman named Pauline. Since when does George have a brother? Was this brother shown or mentioned in any other episode?
Chosen answer: George does mention his brother in the episode "The Parking Space". They actually really never mention anything that contradicts the fact he had a brother though, it just isn't mentioned.
Question: About the "Obvious Special Effects Blur" picture: why would there be special effects there? Is it because it was shot with a blue screen, and added the background later, or...?
Answer: The top of the building was just a set, with the background filled in digitally to add perspective - true of most of the film. Still doesn't really explain why it's so blurred - never seen anything like that in any other films.
Question: Can anyone explain what happened to Stackhouse when he ejected? I understand that he injured his leg. How did that happen? Is it actually possible?
Answer: The two seats collided in midair before their chutes opened and Stackhouse yelled, "ow!" Not realistic because in the 5 seconds it took for the second pilot to eject they would have been far apart.
The injury to Stackhouse's leg was from a pen attached to his knee pad. When watched in slow motion, you see it disintegrate and somehow throw shrapnel into his leg. It makes little sense, I believe it was merely a plot point to make Stackhouse unable to travel out of harm's way. This prompted Burnett to leave him unattended for the bad guys to find him as he went to higher ground to get better reception on the PRC-90.
Answer: It is possible that he has done of one two things. Banged his leg on something inside the cockpit causing it to break, or landed too hard on his way down. It is common for people to break limbs when parachuting/sky diving. It is possible that his bones were just not up to withstanding the force which he incurred.
Or a piece of shrapnel from the jet breaking apart cut his leg.
Question: Sarah asks Grissom to have dinner with her. Moments before, Grissom removes a card from his filofax thing for a 'Dr. Karen Roth'. I'm uncertain, but is this the blonde entomologist he had chemistry with in an earlier episode (they were discussing their mutual love of tarantulas, I think)? If not, who is it?
Answer: It's his ear doctor. At the time, he was thinking of getting his big operation. The entymologist's name was Terri Miller.
Question: Does anyone know if the police file videos shown at the start and end are real, or were they made for the movie?
Answer: It was made for the movie. The story is based on a true story, the idea came from a real murderer.
