Continuity mistake: Roy and Johnny are at the nurses' station discussing the problem of non-emergency calls for paramedics, then it cuts to Dixie in the waiting room, when a nurse asks Dixie if the ER can take a pediatric patient who needs treatment immediately, and Dixie tells her to go to Morton in treatment 3. Then when Dixie speaks to Mrs. Evans we see that young girl being brought to treatment 3. During the next two minutes while Dix walks up the hallway, she quickly speaks to Brackett, then to an impatient parent, then to that nurse again, then Brackett again, and finally to Roy. When Roy asks Dixie where Johnny is, Dixie tells him in treatment 3 (dubious how she would even know that fact), and when Roy walks in to get Johnny that pediatric patient who was just brought to treatment 3 is not in there, instead Morton is examining Wild Bill.

Emergency! (1972)
Continuity mistake: After Johnny and Roy get back to the station and find Bill, who's filling in for Chet, in the kitchen cooking Chet's awful stew recipe, the tones drop and Squad 51 is dispatched to "man unconscious." Just as the bay door opens we can see Engine 51 parked in the bay, but when the squad heads down the driveway the engine's now gone. This presents another problem, because if the footage shows the engine gone, then why is Bill still at the station cooking stew instead of being with the rest of the engine company?

Emergency! (1972)
Character mistake: After Squad 51 joins Engine 51 at the heart attack incident, while Roy's on the Biophone with Rampart he sends a second EKG strip, and Early orders, "100 milligrams lidocaine bolus," but he mispronounces lidocaine and says, "Lidograin," then he pronounces "Lidocaine drip" properly.

Other mistake: After Early carries Martha into treatment 3, and he and Brackett begin examining her, there's a nice exterior shot of what is supposed to be Rampart, only it's not actually Rampart, and we know this since throughout the show's run there are numerous exterior shots of Rampart from every angle.

It's How You Play the Game - S4-E19
Continuity mistake: At the scene of the vehicle accident, when Roy's on the Biophone with Rampart the squad's lightbar is on properly, the center chrome piece has vertical slats that face forward. However, after the victim is removed from his vehicle, when Johnny's on the line with Rampart note the squad's lightbar again, the center chrome is now on backwards, the solid side faces forward.

Camera Bug - S4-E10
Visible crew/equipment: After Johnny snaps the picture of Marco on the engine, when he prods Chet to go stand by the map, as the camera moves to the left we can see the reflection of production equipment/crew on the back of the squad, and we can even make out the shape of someone seated on a director's chair.

Camera Bug - S4-E10
Continuity mistake: When Roy's using the Ambu bag on the unconscious teenager from the school fire, while the stretcher's being wheeled to treatment 3's door, Roy has a stethoscope hanging around his neck, but in the next shot as they enter treatment 3 the stethoscope has vanished.

Emergency! (1972)
Visible crew/equipment: When Johnny jumps from the third floor ledge onto the lifenet, in the shot of his actual jump we can see a cameraman wearing jeans at the bottom left corner of the screen, who's holding a handheld camera shooting footage while lying on the street. The angle of that footage can be seen just as Captain Stanley shouts, "Gage, you first," and also when they walk the lifenet over to their left, before Cap shouts, "Okay, Roy!"

Emergency! (1972)
Continuity mistake: Squad 51's lightbar has a center chrome piece which has slats at the front and is solid at the back. When the squad's dispatched to the vehicle accident with the two student drivers, on scene the lightbar's chrome center is on backwards, it's solid at the front for some inexplicable reason.

Emergency! (1972)
Visible crew/equipment: While rescuing the invalid, when Roy climbs out of the second floor window he suffers an electrical shock, and when he falls in the closeup we can see the crash mat that he lands on when part of it flips up from the force of his weight. Also note that all the shrubs below the window have vanished.

Other mistake: After Chet's practical joke on Karen, she's quite ticked off, and Roy and Johnny are a bit uncomfortable, and then when Station 51 is dispatched to the unknown type rescue they all head to the apparatus bay. In the next shot when Karen, Roy, and Johnny get into the squad just watch all the actors' faces. First Johnny cracks up, then Roy and Karen, who even put their heads down to hide their laughter, particularly Roy who ducks his head behind the steering wheel. Fun to watch.

Emergency! (1972)
Continuity mistake: When Early is examining the boy who had the grand mal seizure in the waiting room, after using his penlight Early puts it back into his pocket just before he examines the boy's ears in the closeup, but in the wide shot that penlight is on the gurney and Dixie picks it up then puts it into her pocket. Yet in Early's closeups the penlight is still in his pocket, and in the wide shots it's gone.

Continuity mistake: When Early examines the boy who had a seizure in the waiting room, Early uses a tongue depressor and his penlight to check the boy's throat. During his examination, in the wide shot the penlight is in Early's right hand and the tongue depressor in his left, but in the closeup they've switched hands. Additionally, in that wide shot Dix is holding the otoscope with her right hand, but in the closeup her right hand in under the boy's head.

The Lighter-Than-Air Man - S5-E8
Visible crew/equipment: When Johnny brings in the box and Chet removes the wrapping for the baby layette, note the unfinished set wall past Engine 51 in the apparatus bay, which we can see since the front bay door is open, but when Captain Stanley walks in telling John about the phone call, the front bay door is now closed, then when the tones drop that set wall can be seen once again.

Emergency! (1972)
Continuity mistake: While Roy and Johnny are studying, after hearing Roy's positive horoscope Johnny tells Chet his birthday is August 28th. However, in the pilot episode "The Wedsworth-Townsend Act," Dixie has a get-together as a combination celebration of John's birthday and gathering of the supporters of the paramedic program. At the party Dixie offers the hors d'oeuvres to Johnny saying, "You first, it's your birthday," as he takes a mouthful of food. During that week we see people wearing coats, and the many deciduous trees (not the evergreens and palms) in LA County have already lost their leaves, which means it's certainly not summertime, August 28th.

Emergency! (1972)
Revealing mistake: When John is in the moving ambulance with the pregnant gunshot victim, Brackett asks him if he hears fetal heart tones, and when John removes the stethoscope from his ears he leans back and we can see out the window that the ambulance is quite stationery, despite the siren.

Emergency! (1972)
Continuity mistake: Before the fake eye test begins Captain Stanley hands each guy their own cheat sheet, and when Chet walks out of the day room upset about the eye test, John puts his cheat sheet into his shirt pocket just as they're being dispatched to the "accident and car fire." After the rescue, when John and Roy get back to the station John joins Chet by the lockers, and when John tries to prove that the eye test was a prank, John opens his locker and pulls out his cheat sheet, even though we saw him place it in his shirt pocket before the run.
