Continuity mistake: At her home, when Elizabeth bars the door handles to the dining room with a candelabra, Pintel and Ragetti burst in, breaking that candelabra. Visible to Pintel's left in this shot is a cushioned chair and a small table, with absolutely nothing on it. Yet, in the next wide shot of the dining room, there is now a large candelabra on that small table near the door. (00:33:25)

Continuity mistake: Elizabeth's maid runs out the front door and the camera pans inside. Elizabeth is seen running past the set of three large windows on the landing, as she continues towards the last flight of stairs closer to the main floor. In the next close-up though, it shows Elizabeth followed by Pintel running down the stairs that are closer to the second floor which we see behind Pintel. Additional reference can also be seen when Elizabeth initially runs upstairs away from Pintel and Ragetti. (00:33:00)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: In Governor Swann's home the maid runs past the dead servant and out through the front door, the camera begins to pan the interior and we see the foyer. There's a chair, a table and to the right is the overturned chair and the table is right next to the legs of the overturned chair. Then as Elizabeth, Pintel and Ragetti watch the cannonball crashing through the front window, the table is now much further away from the overturned chair. No one touched the table or chair. (00:33:00)

Continuity mistake: In Governor Swann's home, Elizabeth, Pintel and Ragetti are at the bottom of the stairs and in this first shot a third pirate comes in the back doors with a handful of looted riches. They watch as a cannonball crashes through the front window, and in the next shot it slams into him and propels him back out the closed doors. The booty in his hands is different in both shots. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Revealing mistake: In the close-up of Jack as he swims to get his gun, etc, his left sleeve is pushed up and it's very obvious that he's wearing something with short sleeves under his white shirt. This isn't part of his white shirt. He has nothing on under his white shirt at any other time. (The underwater close-up of Depp was filmed in a tank at Long Beach along with the close-ups rescuing Elizabeth earlier.) (01:34:50)

Super Grover

Revealing mistake: When Jack is aboard the Black Pearl, as Will makes demands we see Jack's very grimy hands and dirt embedded fingernails. Jack dives and retrieves his sword and gun underwater, and when he does the hands that lift the sword and gun underwater are perfectly clean and have very well manicured fingernails. Once on the island, his hands are as grimy as they were on the Pearl and his fingernails are once again short and dirty. (01:34:50)

Continuity mistake: Before Jack says, "Ta," there's a close-up of their feet and there's a 2x4 edge on the cart. Later, Jack tosses the mallet at Will, who ducks down, the cart's seen and there are two strips of wood as the edge. When Jack flips a plank, it smacks Will in the face, he falls and that end of cart's seen and now there's no finished edge. When the barrels fall on the edge of the cart, we see the 2x4 edge again. In many shots throughout the scene the edge changes. Also, in a couple of shots the edge has a cut out in the corner, for the wire they used. (The wire can be seen on Disc 2.) (00:23:35 - 00:25:30)

Super Grover

Revealing mistake: Using the loop on Jack's shackle, Will traps Jack to the beam above with his sword. The distinctive patterns on the planks of the cart that Jack stands on differs from the patterns on the planks shown under Jack, while he hangs from the beam. It's not the same cart. Also, while Jack hangs over the cart, the cut out at the corner of the cart is seen over Jack's left shoulder. In the cut out, the linkage which is used for the wire is seen in a couple of shots. (The wire can be seen on Disc 2.) (00:25:30)

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Visible crew/equipment: When Jack and Will duel, Jack says, "You need to find yourself a girl, mate," and he takes a mallet from above, Will ducks. In the next back shot of Will as he ducks, the back, left flap of his vest goes up. There is a battery power pack secured with black tape to the left side at the back of Orlando Bloom's pants' waistband. There are several shots during this scene when a small bulge under the back of his vest can be seen. (00:24:45)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: Will walks into the blacksmith shop, takes his jacket off and tosses it onto the stones near the fireplace. His jacket lays differently on the stones in some shots throughout this scene. These two shots are examples: when Jack says, "Crossing blades with a pirate," and when Jack jumps off the stones after spraying Will with the soot. (00:22:55 - 00:26:20)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: When Jack first walks into the blacksmith shop, standing at the doorway he looks around. The grindstone is seen in the distance and there is NO sword leaning on it. Then Will says, "You threatened Miss Swann," and in the following few shots there IS a sword leaning on the grindstone. After Jack says, "You need to find yourself a girl mate," he reaches overhead, pulls out a mallet and Will ducks. The grindstone is seen and again there is NO sword leaning on the grindstone. Neither Jack nor Will touched the grindstone. (00:23:05 - 00:24:50)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: As Jack and Will duel, the amount of closed buttons on Will's vest changes. After Jack says, "And now you have no weapon," three buttons are closed. When Jack says, "You need to find yourself a girl mate," four buttons are closed. Then up on the beams, in one of the first shots, there are three buttons closed. Coming off the beams, hanging upside down, four buttons are closed again. (00:24:15)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: Jack and Will duel on the cart and in a side shot, the FIRST time Will crosses his two swords in front of him below his waist, the blade in his left hand is on top of the blade in his right hand, then in the following front shot, the blade in his right hand is now on top of the blade in his left hand. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Visible crew/equipment: At the blacksmith shop, Jack and Will start to duel and Jack asks, "But how's your footwork?" In the next close-up shot of their feet, the imprint of a modern, flat bottom trainer/sneaker sole can be seen on the dirt floor at the bottom right of the screen. It is not the imprint of a heel and sole of the time period. As a point of interest, on the video version of this film there are multiple imprints visible. (00:23:25)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: At Port Royal, Jack attempts to escape by holding Elizabeth hostage. After she puts his hat on in the first shot, while their bodies are extremely close, her right arm reaches under his left arm to go around his back in order to put the strap with the buckle on. Yet, in the next close-up, they haven't moved but now her right arm is over his left shoulder. Quite impossible between shots. (00:19:10)

Super Grover

Revealing mistake: The medallion's necklace has very narrow bar links, with one loop link at the end and it's not adjustable at all. When Elizabeth wears it in some shots, the necklace hangs much shorter, for example during her failed blood ritual. As the medallion falls into the Aztec chest during Elizabeth's ritual, the chain is even shorter. In other scenes it's long enough to tuck into her bodice as in a later scene aboard Interceptor with Will, when she gives him the medallion. When Will wears it, it's again much shorter, which can not be excused because he has a man's neck. The clasp closure is seen intact and it's not adjustable. It's simply a few different length necklaces used. The necklace gets ripped off, but that's also not an excuse for the length difference because as noted in another mistake the type of closure it has makes that impossible to do. (01:11:15 - 01:18:20)

Super Grover

Visible crew/equipment: Will rescues Elizabeth from Isla de Muerta and brings her back to Interceptor. Will says, "He fell behind," then Gibbs says, "Keep to the code." In between those two lines there is a shot of some of Jack's crew, and beyond the white haired man's right shoulder, a bald crew member is partially seen. He is not one of Jack's crew, as every one of them, bald or not, is accounted for on deck from the time Elizabeth comes aboard. (01:16:15)

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Revealing mistake: When Jack and Elizabeth are marooned on the island, Jack wants to know why the rum is gone. Elizabeth sits down in front of Jack, and as he stands behind her, he puts his fists up to his chin in frustration. His right forearm does not have the sun and sparrow tattoo showing, although part of it should be. The entire tattoo would not be hidden under his sleeve, makeup simply did not apply it for this shot. (01:39:20)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: While her friends are waiting in the car for Bridget, wanting to take her to Paris, she is standing in front of her flat as Mark walks over. When they talk, the folds in the scarf around her neck very noticeably change in some of the close-up shots of her. (01:25:40)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: Mark Darcy is in Bridget's flat and he notices the diary under a folded newspaper and some magazines. In this front shot, he puts the magazines down next to the newspaper and pulls the diary out from under the newspaper. In the next close-up looking down at the table when he holds the diary, the folded newspaper is no longer there. When Bridget walks into the room after Mark leaves, in this front shot of the table, the newspaper is under the diary that Mark had put down. When Bridget comes back from the window, in the close-up looking down at the table, once again the newspaper is not under the diary. (01:27:30)
