Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets mistake picture

Continuity mistake: In the hospital wing, as Madame Pomfrey removes the skull bottle top of the Skele-Gro and sets it down, she says, "But it'll be painful," and Harry actually smirks at her. In the next close-up, as she pours some Skele-Gro into a glass and places the bottle down, the skull top now faces the opposite way. In the following shot as she hands Harry the glass, the position of both the skull top and the bottle of Skele-Gro are quite obviously different than the previous close-up. (00:58:55)

Continuity mistake: When Dobby visits Harry in the hospital wing, Harry throws his blankets off and gets out of bed. In the following shots the blankets and pillows change according to the camera angle or is different altogether for that shot. (01:00:30)

Continuity mistake: Hermione brews the Polyjuice potion, while she sits on the floor with her back to the sinks. When Ron says, "Lucius Malfoy must have opened it when he was at school here," Hermione sits close to the stone's edge on her right which is much closer to the pillar. As well as when Ron asks, "Why are we brewing this potion in broad daylight, in the middle of the girls' lavatory?" she sits closer to the pillar, at an angle. These differ from the other shots. (01:03:10)

Revealing mistake: After Harry yells, "Wood, look out!" Harry ducks to avoid the Bludger and flies away. In the following close-up of Harry, there are two reflections in each of the lenses of his glasses. The reflections were added deliberately for this shot, however, as he sweeps around the pitch, changing direction as he goes, the reflections should reflect the change in scenery around him, but it does NOT. Visible crew/equipment: After Harry says, "Rictusempra!" Malfoy is thrown across the room and lands at Snape's feet. Snape grabs Malfoy at the back of his neck and as he pulls him up, Alan Rickman's mark, the green tape, is visible at his feet, as well as Tom Felton's white tape mark at his left foot. Whereas in the earlier shot, when Snape suggests someone from his own house and says, "Malfoy, perhaps," the end of the mat is visibly without any marks. (Not visible in DVD widescreen format) (01:06:25 - 01:07:40)

Revealing mistake: As Errol swoops down, there are various angles that he's seen flying over students for the drama, however the last ones are very different. First, an overhead wide shot of the dining hall. Second, heading towards the camera, as Fred and George sit on the left. Third, an overhead of the Gryffindor table. The next two differ completely. First a long pan as Errol flies between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff tables, way past Fred, George and Ron's stand-in, who sit in front of the fireplace, causing some students at Gryffindor table to lean FORWARD, so Errol doesn't hit their backs as he goes off screen to the left. Next shot, Errol flies toward the camera passing Fred, George and the rest, who dramatically lean BACKWARD in this shot, as Errol flies over their table between them. (00:33:45)

Continuity mistake: Errol makes a mess with the chips and when Ron deals with the Howler, the mess on the table differs depending on the camera angle. For example, when the Howler says, "Ronald Weasley! How dare...," there is one kind of mess and then when it says, "..and it's entirely your fault!" there is another mess, but when the Howler shreds itself, the mess is the same as the first shot. Continuity mistake: After transforming the bird into a water goblet, Professor McGonagall says, "Now it's your turn. Who would like to go first?" The Slytherin girl on the left has pigtails that start at her earlobes, though in the next shot the pigtails start much higher, at the top of her ears. (00:48:35)

Continuity mistake: In the overhead wide shot of the moving stairs, the camera closes in on Hermione, Harry and Ron on the stairs, with the portraits on the wall, to their left. In this mostly CG shot the small hanging name plaques are missing under the portraits and the portraits on Hermione's left hang much higher over the banister than in the next shot, which has the name plaques in place. (00:47:40)

Continuity mistake: When Oliver Wood argues with Flint about who has the pitch for Quidditch practice, there is a close-up of Wood and the ties on his robe. When Ron is on the ground spitting up slugs, in the close-up of Colin, Wood's robe is seen clearly and the ties on his robe are actually put through the grommets and tied very differently, as is the case with others. (00:38:30 - 00:39:35)

Audio problem: Hermione takes her wand out in the shot facing her, Harry and Ron, and Hermione's mouth begins to shout the "I" in "Immobulus!" though no sound is heard. It is in the next close-up that she dramatically shouts out the entire word, "Immobulus!" (00:37:40)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: When Hermione shouts, "Immobulus!" at the Cornish pixies, in the shot facing Neville, Harry, who's sitting on his knees, is right next to Hermione with Ron at his other side also on his knees. In the next wide shot, Harry and Ron, still on their knees, are much further away from Hermione. (00:37:40)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: In the close-up when Hermione screams, "Immobulus!" at the Cornish pixies, the floor and platform under Lockhart's desk have a mess of books and papers. Next wide shot the mess on the floor and platform are different. In the next close-up of Hermione, the mess is the same as the first close-up. (00:37:40)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: When the Cornish pixies are released, in the close-up, Harry knocks his books onto the floor, Hermione knocks down her quill together with the books, then stands and grips the top of her desk, etc. However in the next wide shot, Harry does NOT knock his books to the floor, Hermione's quill remains on the desk though her books are down on the ground already, she grips the side, not the top, of her desk, etc. (00:36:35)

Continuity mistake: When Errol is lying flat on his back on the table, in the close-up of Errol, Ron takes the Howler out of Errol's beak and the ribbon and seal on the Howler face away from Ron. In the next shot though, still in Ron's left hand as he lifts it, the ribbon and seal on the Howler now face Ron. (00:34:00)

Continuity mistake: Ron and Harry drag their trunks and pets up the steps, to place with the other students' belongings. As Ron places his trunk near the others, the five strips of trim are clearly visible on his trunk, whereas when Ron's trunk is thrown out of the car it has only four strips of trim. Evidently NOT the same trunk. (00:28:10)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: After throwing Harry, Ron and everything else out of the car, Ron's door slams shut. In this close-up the gashes caused by the Whomping Willow are visible along the outside of the door. After the next overhead shot is another close-up of that door as the car speeds away. The gashes seen in this shot are completely different. (00:28:20)

Super Grover

Visible crew/equipment: After ejecting Harry, Ron, Hedwig, Scabbers and all their belongings out of the car, just before Ron's door slams shut, the metal rod attached to the bottom of the door to pull it closed is visible. (00:28:20)

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets mistake picture

Revealing mistake: Harry and Ron's trunks are being thrown out of the car and in the shot just before Harry's close-up, Ron's trunk (the other trunk says HP) slams down on the grass. The top of this trunk has a large perfectly symmetrical hole in the center with four round marks around it, which was probably involved in the throwing somehow. In the wide shot as Hedwig is being tossed out, the trunks are clearly visible and there is no hole in either, nor is there a hole in Ron's trunk at any other time. (00:28:10)
