Continuity mistake: In Port Royal when Elizabeth is being taken by the pirates, Will sees her across the courtyard and she calls out, "Will!" In the first close-up as he begins to say, "Elizabeth," the crowd behind him differs greatly to the crowd seen behind him in the very next wide shot as he finishes saying, "Elizabeth," and then when Jacoby says, "Hello," in the next shot of Will. This is not due to people running around, it was simply shot at different times. (00:35:10)
Super Grover
Continuity mistake: During the pirates rampage in Port Royal, Will battles with Grapple. The rope at Grapple's shoulder changes drastically in most of these shots, including going back and forth from hanging neatly, to not being there at all, to different amounts falling. (00:34:55)
Revealing mistake: Norrington says, "Gillette, Mr. Sparrow has a dawn appointment with the gallows..." and he's standing at the dock. When he says the name Gillette, there is an unobstructed view. Behind Norrington to HIS right is the bottom part of the mountain's rocky cliffside and we do not see Dauntless moored. At this angle the Dauntless should be seen, though the digital editors neglected to add it. (00:20:30)

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Continuity mistake: The Fellowship wait for the Orcs and Troll to break through the Chamber of Mazarbulat's door (with Balin's Tomb). In the wide close-up shot of the door we see the two large axes lying across the top of the door handles, and two spears leaning against the doors. Gimli says "There is one Dwarf yet in Moria who still draws breath" and we see the doors in the background with no spears leaning on them. In the close-up again the spears are there. In the next extreme close-up the large axes' handles are lying across the doors behind one another. There is yet another extreme close-up and now the large axes' handles are lying across the doors on top of each other. In the next wide shot the Orcs break through the doors and the left door starts to crookedly come down. Then in the next shot the doors are just now being broken through, only this time the left door comes straight down. (00:28:40)

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Continuity mistake: At Balin's Tomb, in two shots Pippin backs up towards the stone well, and when the skeletal head falls into the well we see a part of the sticks behind the pail, lying on the well. In the shot from above as the body falls in, and in the close-up of the chain and pail falling in, the sticks aren't there. In the next shots of the stone well we see the sticks lying there. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Continuity mistake: In the Chamber of Mazarbul, with Balin's Tomb, Pippin backs up towards the well, we see the pail and there is a thick bunch of chain hanging out of it. In the next shot of Pippin as he backs up and turns, the pail now has one line of chain hanging out of it. Then Pippin touches the quiver of the arrow, and in the first shot of the head falling back into the well the pail yet again has a thick bunch of chain hanging out of it. Then in the next shot of Pippin turning around towards Gandalf the pail once again has the one line of chain hanging out of it. (00:26:45)

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Continuity mistake: As Gimli weeps at Balin's Tomb, he says "Oh no. No." There is a wide shot, and this is the first shot of the skeleton and pail resting on the stone well. In this shot, the skeleton's feet and head, which are leaning to its left, are in different positions than in the second shot of it. In the second shot, Pippin backs up towards the well, and the skeleton, with its head leaning to its right is shown. Then in the third shot Pippin turns toward the well as Gandalf reads, "A shadow moves in the dark," the skeleton's head now leans to its left. In the fourth shot, as Pippin starts to touch the arrow, the skeleton's head is now leaning forward to its right. (00:25:20)

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Continuity mistake: The Fellowship stand at the ready at Balin's Tomb, looking towards the door that is barred with the axes. There are also two spears, but nothing else is leaning on the two doors. In the shot right after Gimli says, "Let them come," this shot shows them all from behind. As Legolas and Aragorn step away from each other, the door is seen and leaning on the door to the left is Boromir's shield, who is standing to the left of the screen minus a shield. Boromir does not move. In the next shot of the door the shield isn't there and in the next shot of Boromir, he's holding his shield. (00:28:40)
Continuity mistake: At Balin's Tomb, in the first shot Boromir's right wrist is caught up on the Troll's chain and he's holding his shield with his left hand. In the second shot, the Troll flings Boromir across towards the wall, and as Boromir is flying across, he is not holding his shield. In this next shot, as soon as Boromir hits the wall, he has the shield in his left hand again. (00:30:00)
Continuity mistake: At the shore, after remembering Gandalf's words, Frodo pushes the boat into the water, then jumps in, and the gear in the boat is seen. In the boat, as Frodo says, "Go back Sam," once more the gear in the boat is seen. When Frodo rescues Sam and he's climbing into the boat, the gear is seen again. In all three shots of the boat, some of that gear is arranged quite differently. (01:30:00)
Continuity mistake: When Frodo rescues a drowning Sam, once Sam is in the boat, when the camera faces Sam, it is clear that the boat remains perpendicular to the shoreline, as they speak and hug. However, in the wide shot of them hugging, the boat is parallel to the shore. Another close-up on Sam and the boat is still perpendicular to the shoreline. In the next wide shot, they row away, and head for the Eastern shore. (01:31:20)
Continuity mistake: Aboard Dauntless, Governor Swann is talking to Elizabeth through the closed doors. As he says, "I couldn't be more proud of you," the table is shown being right next to the dresser and the table is devoid of any rolled papers. When Governor Swann is battling with the skeletal hand, Not only does the table have rolled white paper on it now, there are two large trunks, between the table and dresser now, and more rolled paper. (01:49:45 - 01:56:15)
Continuity mistake: As young Elizabeth sings, the next shot from behind her to her right we see the cannonballs lined up at the bottom of the rail going around the deck. When she yells out, "Look! A boy..." Now there is a cannon in the corner of that bow. (00:00:45 - 00:02:20)
Continuity mistake: Aboard the Black Pearl, just as the boat is released to swing out towards skeletal Grapple and Mallet, a rope is seen attached to the left hanging apparatus and that rope is draped across three of the seats. In the next shot, after their bones are knocked overboard, the rope in the boat is not over any of the seats but coiled up near the hanging apparatus. (01:57:30)
Continuity mistake: Jack and Will jump down from the beams and Jack reaches for the bag of soot (really cocoa powder). In the back shot of Will as he approaches Jack, Will has his sword in his right hand. In the front close-up of Will as Jack starts to spray him, his right hand is NOT holding the sword - we SEE his hand when he turns. In the next wide shot, Jack is still spraying the soot, Will is again holding the sword in his right hand, then Jack kicks the sword out of Will's hand. (00:26:15)
Continuity mistake: During the pirate attack on Port Royal, Will opens the door of the blacksmith shop, just as Jacoby runs past chasing a woman, and to Will's right, three men run up the stairs into the alcove as Will takes out his axe to start after Jacoby. In the very next wide shot of Will and the alcove, those three men aren't seen at all, but as soon as Will lifts the axe over his head to throw, one of those men from the previous shot is seen running up some stairs, past a shop. (00:31:10)
Revealing mistake: When the gallows, in the Fort's courtyard, blows up, just before the huge explosion, four of the platform legs can be seen exploding in the same place, at the same time. A horse and rider pass by in the wide shot, another platform leg, the arm of the gallows and the actual platform explode in sync. Also, in the next close-up we see where the nearest leg of the platform has been cut to help facilitate the explosions impact. (00:31:25)
Continuity mistake: During Jack's escape, as he's swinging about, in the background of this shot, the Dauntless is not seen moored, as it was in all the previous shots of Jack's opening scene, including being seen past Interceptor, from the angle of the running British Royal Navy. (00:19:55)
Continuity mistake: After Jack rescues Elizabeth, he slices the front ties of the corset she is wearing, and gives the corset to Murtogg. As he hands Murtogg the corset in the first shot, the corset is right side up, because we see the waist flaps at the bottom. In the next shot, as Jack's hand lets go of the corset Murtogg is seen holding the corset upside down with the shoulder straps at the bottom. In the next shot, a close-up of Jack, in the background Murtogg is holding the corset right side up, and the waist flap is seen. (00:16:35)

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
Revealing mistake: The very first shot of the Uruk-hai running through the rock canyon is the exact same shot that is shown in the last shot of this scene, just after Pippin bites the Lorien brooch off his cloak. Even though in between those two shots, all the Uruk-hai have been running until they meet up with the Orcs. In between those two shots, the rock formation shown behind the Uruk who lifts his fist up is also quite different in the next successive shot, when the Orcs approach the Uruks. (00:14:40 - 00:16:50)
