Continuity mistake: When Sean (as Castor Troy) stabs Castor (as Sean Archer) in the leg, the type of speargun actually changes between shots, it is an entirely different model. The spear tip differs as well.

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Cage and Travolta are fighting on the dock, Cage stabs Travolta with the speargun (before he fires it). If you look at the spear after Travolta is stabbed, there is blood on it. Then in the next shot, the spear is suddenly clean.

Continuity mistake: After the ship with the "bride spirit" is attacked by the Kraken, Will ends up underwater, and when he surfaces his hair is soaked and slicked back, as he climbs on the ship's debris. However, in the next shot, his hair is parted, stringy and falling to the front. (01:33:50)

Continuity mistake: After the Flying Dutchman's attack on the Pearl, when the Kraken attacks the Pearl, one of its tentacles comes through the captain's stateroom stern windows, which has considerable damage - notably the left window and part of the wall are completely gone. When Gibbs says, "Abandon ship or abandon hope," the stern windows are actually more intact - especially the left window/wall. (02:03:50)

Continuity mistake: When Jack is trying to get the handcuff off his hand at the end of the movie, he has all of his rings turned inward to make it easier to get it off. But when the shot changes into a wide shot, as he pulls off the handcuffs, all of his rings are facing the right way. (02:09:10)

Continuity mistake: In the scene when Captain Sparrow, Elizabeth, and Norrington dig up the chest and open it, we can see that there are documents filling the chest all the way to the top. The shot changes, and now you can see that there are fewer documents in the chest, even though they haven't started pulling them out yet. (01:45:05)

Continuity mistake: After Jack takes the heart out of the chest he hurriedly closes its lid, the locks engage, and the key's end remains in the horizontal position when Jack runs off. However, when Pintel and Ragetti grab the chest the key's circular end is now vertical - the key does not turn itself. (01:51:00)

Continuity mistake: When Captain Teague looks up the Code in the book by Morgan and Bartholomew, in the close-ups the fingers of his right hand runs across the line "It shall be the duty of the Pirate King", but next wideshot it's his left hand doing the page scanning, with his right hand at his side.

Continuity mistake: Aboard the Pearl, after Elizabeth asks, "What shall we die for?" and begins a rousing speech to the crew, her hairstyle differs significantly in following shots (despite the wind).

Continuity mistake: At the end, when Jack says, "Drink up me hearties, yo ho," the compass rope flips its direction, from hanging across his palm to over the back of his hand, between shots, including the compass close-ups.

Continuity mistake: Aboard the Dutchman, when Jones's crew shout, "The Admiral's dead," Norrington's black scabbard lies conspicuously at his right side, but when he stabs Jones the scabbard is gone.

Continuity mistake: Elizabeth has a beauty mark above the corner of her right eyebrow which actually disappears in some of her close-ups. For instance, when she is with Norrington and asks, "Know what? Which side you chose?" and later, when he kisses her. Later, in the scene with her son, the beauty mark is gone in one close-up and then just reappears in the next one, as she glances at her son.

Revealing mistake: Just after Barbossa and Elizabeth reach Sao Feng's residence, down below when Gibbs pulls the bars they actually bend.

Continuity mistake: When the huge water wheel rolls to the beach and falls on its side, it falls with the broken, wide, wood side of the axle facing up. However, as Will and Norrington climb out, inexplicably it's the slim side of the water wheel's axle that is now facing up. But in a following shot, it is the other way round again. (01:52:22)

Continuity mistake: During the Kraken attack on the Pearl, Jack sneaks away in the long boat at the Pearl's port side. However, when Elizabeth walks over to the deck rail, sees Jack and says, "Oh, you coward!" she is actually standing at the Pearl's starboard side, and it would be quite impossible to see Jack. Take note of the rail rigging and mast. (02:01:20)

Continuity mistake: At the mass hanging, when the singing begins, in one shot of the people (with the boy) standing at the gallows, the others down below, who wait at the head of the line, are also seen behind them singing. In a following shot, some at the head of the line differ.

Continuity mistake: When Governor Swann and Will go to see Elizabeth where she is imprisoned, Will and Elizabeth hold hands through the square bars of the cell. Their hands are actually in different openings depending on the shot. (00:18:55)

Continuity mistake: After Jack opens the lid of the large chest, there is a close-up of the filled interior, which lies nearly a foot below the top edge of the large chest, with the smaller inner chest well hidden below. However, in the next shot the lid of the smaller inner chest is way up higher, actually level with the top edge of the large chest - before Jack lifts it. (01:41:20)

Continuity mistake: When the water wheel rolls away from the camera, just as Jack falls out after hitting his head, the thin part of the axle is missing on the left, though at this angle it should be seen. Both sides of the axle are intact in following shots. Note, when the wheel rolls onto the beach, before it falls over, it is shown at the very same angle as the earlier shot. (01:52:30 - 01:56:30)
