Continuity mistake: When Hector stabs Menelaus, in the close-up the tip of the blade protrudes at his back a few inches to the right of the second circular design, under the shoulder flap. However, when Hector pulls the blade out, the tip of the blade is directly in the center of the circular decorative design.(01:16:50)
Continuity mistake: In the first shot that pans Ajax's ship, as he walks towards the bow, Ajax's weapon leans on the rail at the prow and to HIS left there is a green shield, blanket and other items lying on deck, as well as the seated men rowing. The first seat is empty, on the second seat sits a dark-haired man and a bald man sits on the fourth seat. However, when he yells, "Row you lazy whores..." in the close-up, he yanks a man sitting in the first seat that was previously empty, the man on the second seat has gone grey (from stress?) and the (bald) man on the fourth seat has grown a full head of hair. Ajax's weapon, the green shield and the other items are gone too.(00:41:30)
Continuity mistake: When fighting Boagrius, Achilles tosses his shield with the attached spear, to the ground, the spear separates and lies beside the shield - which is face down, as Boagrius throws the second spear. However, when Achilles runs toward Boagrius their proximity differs, and when he stabs him the spear is gone and the shield is face up, but when Boagrius falls to his knees, the spear is back.(00:08:05)
Continuity mistake: After Hector, Paris and Helen arrive home, when Hector hugs Priam and Andromache, there are at least six small gold clasps at the back of Hector's hair, yet when Hector kisses Briseis, the large one differs and all the small clasps are gone.(00:29:35)
Continuity mistake: When Hector says goodbye to Andromache, before his duel with Achilles, in the shots facing Hector as they embrace his face is pressed onto Andromache's shoulder, but in the shots facing Andromache his face is higher up, beside her head.(01:55:15)
Continuity mistake: When Hector says goodbye to Paris and kisses his forehead, the small decorative gold clasps and the very large clasp at the bottom of his hair are visible. Then when Hector says goodbye to Andromache and Scamandrius, the large clasp is a completely different one and the small clasps' positions differ. The clasps in Hector's, Paris', and others, hair change position in consecutive shots throughout the film.(01:55:00)
Continuity mistake: When Denethor holds the Horn of Gondor, the metal loop (with rope), which is affixed at its wide end, is located at the outer curve where it is cloven. However in both FotR and TTT, the metal loop at the Horn's wide end, is located on the inner curve where it is cloven, on the opposite side. (There are only two metal loops and they are permanently affixed.)(00:44:50)
Continuity mistake: Gandalf and Pippin walk to the prow of Minas Tirith, and while the wizard says, "Childless lords sat in aged halls, musing on heraldry..." the camera passes the two tall stones at the prow. The depth of the stones are the same at both the narrow top and wide bottom, they are irregularly shaped and the actual points are curved. The prow's short side stone walls meet the two front stones at their edges and part of the wall is broken. However, after Gandalf says, "The rule of Gondor was given over to lesser men," in the next shot facing Mordor, the stones are completely different. The two tall stones come to a perfect point, they are straight at all sides and the design of the stone differs. The wall is not broken and both sides jut out past the side edges of the two tall pointy stones. (Extended DVD.)(00:48:40)
Continuity mistake: As Faramir holds the Horn of Gondor, the rope is attached to metal loops on the smaller half of the horn - without the mouthpiece. However, in FotR, when Boromir is hit with the third arrow and the Horn of Gondor is cloven in two, the rope is attached to the metal loops on the half with the long mouthpiece. (There are only two metal loops and they are permanently affixed.)(00:31:50)
Continuity mistake: After Boromir is hit with the second arrow, he falls to his knees. When he shoves his sword into the Uruk in the close-up, the silver clasp on Boromir's red shirt, at the center of his torso, is not clasped to the red loop on the opposite side (but it was in previous shots). However, in his extreme close-up, when he screams out, it is properly clasped like the rest on the red shirt, but in the very next shot it is not clasped yet again, and of course it is in following shots.(01:23:40)
Continuity mistake: When Boromir blows the Horn of Gondor in the close-up (the second time he is seen doing it), slung around his neck are both sides of the horn's attached rope in front of his torso, as he drops the horn to grasp the sword with both hands to fight the Uruk beside him. In the following shots it varies, the horn is either slung over the same way or it is slung over his shoulder, with one side of the rope at his back!(01:22:05)
Continuity mistake: When Aragorn speaks with Frodo near the stairs at Amon Hen, the greenery sticking out of the indivial steps in these shots differ and actually change their position on the stairs significantly, after Aragorn yells, "Run!" and then walks toward the many Uruk-hai.(01:17:50 - 01:18:30)
Continuity mistake: At Amon Hen, when Frodo asks of Aragorn, "Can you protect me from yourself?" there is a close-up of the Ring in the palm of Frodo's hand, which is clearly Elijah Wood's hand - his fingernails are so bitten up that there are barely any left. A moment later, in the two following close-ups, first when Aragorn's hand nearly touches the Ring and then when Aragorn's hand closes Frodo's fingers over the Ring, Frodo's hand is certainly not Elijah Wood's - the fingernails are regular length.(01:17:25)
Continuity mistake: When Galadriel gives Sam the Elven hithlain rope, in the close-up her hand is above the rope - palm side down, as she lets go and hands it to him, yet in the wideshot her hand is under the rope, palm side up as she lets go.(01:04:05)
Continuity mistake: When House writes "temporary psychosis" and circles it on the white dry erase board, both the words and circle change repeatedly in the following shots.
Continuity mistake: When Belle opens the bedroom door for Mrs. Potts and Chip, in the close-up the bottom corners of the doors are aligned perfectly with the edge of the floor tiles, when both doors are closed. Later, when Cogsworth comes in to announce dinner, the bottom corners of the doors are above the center of the tile, when the doors are closed. This should never change.(00:30:15 - 00:31:20)
Continuity mistake: After Beast shows Belle to her room, he slams the door and when Belle leans on the door there are backplates secured to the door, behind the two door handles. However, in the next shot the backplates are gone.(00:24:50)
Continuity mistake: When Mrs. Potts and Chip go to Belle's bedroom, the small colorful decorative pillows that lie on Belle's bed disappear, then reappear, etc., and the three large pillows change their appearance and position in the following shots as well.(00:30:20 - 00:31:05)
Continuity mistake: When Harry arrives at Lupin's office the tall dark ornate chair sits directly in front of the corner of Lupin's desk, with one of its chair legs right beside the desk leg. However, in the wide shot when Lupin explains that he resigned, the chair is much further away. Then after Lupin leaves, when Harry walks towards the door, the chair is beside the desk again.(02:16:10)
Continuity mistake: When Harry is in Lupin's office, as the Professor says, "I resigned..." his cane leans against the corner of the trunk beside the doorway. Yet when Harry says, "But Dumbledore..." the cane hangs off the center of the trunk. As Harry says, "None of it made any difference," the cane is gone, but when Lupin says, "You helped uncover the truth," the cane hangs again. Then when Lupin says, "If I am proud of anything..." the cane leans against the corner, but wait, when Lupin leaves the office the cane hangs off the trunk once again.(02:06:10)
