Continuity mistake: The morning after Mike's party at Ned's house, when Ned finishes vacuuming the rug in the overhead shot the wood floor immediately surrounding the rug is clean, but in the next shot there is a mess right beside the rug, which would have been visible in the previous shot had it been there. Continuity mistake: On the bridge, when Mike topples into the water headfirst, the distinctive treads on the heels/soles of his shoes, as well as the light colored brand logo on the heels, are visible. After the newly transformed Mike appears at Ned's home wearing the same clothing, when Ned pulls the rug out from under Mike, his shoes' soles are completely different. (00:17:40 - 00:19:05)

Continuity mistake: At the dance Sam is wearing silver non-platform stilettos with silvery nail polish on her toenails. As soon as Fiona and the "Siamese" twins leave the diner, in the kitchen a much relieved Sam shifts her white gown and she is wearing white platforms and her toenail polish is quite gone now. Continuity mistake: When Austin is forced to sit on the bench to meet the bachelorettes, the large words "friendship circle" are above the bench. In the wideshots Austin sits in front of the "ship" part of the words and Ryan is in front of "circle", but in the close-ups Austin's in front of "friend" and Ryan's in front of "ship", about 2 ft to their right (viewer's left). Continuity mistake: When Gabriella chases Brianna into the car wash, Brianna knocks over a large metal bucket, yellow pails, etc onto the ground, but in the last shot one yellow pail is back against the wall and the metal bucket sits upright, among other changes. (01:03:50)

Continuity mistake: At the car wash, when Gabriella grabs the window squeegee and threatens Brianna, she holds it with the sponge edge facing away from Brianna, but next shot as Brianna runs away the sponge edge suddenly faces the opposite direction. (01:03:45)

Continuity mistake: When Biff and his goon friends are in Biff's car, as they chase Marty on his borrowed 'skateboard', the car's rearview mirror repeatedly disappears and reappears, and the side mirror changes from round to square repeatedly. (01:06:50)

Continuity mistake: When Marty chases after Biff on the borrowed 'skateboard', Marty is wearing a dark grey belt and a red/blue print shirt under his red/beige jacket. However, when Marty is hanging on to the front of Biff's car as they turn a corner (and in another shot), Marty (stunt double) is wearing a light brown belt and solid tan shirt. (01:07:00)

Continuity mistake: After Marty borrows the improvised skateboard from the boy, in the first close-up of his feet his tied looped laces are extremely short, but when he climbs over Biff's moving car and then lands on the skateboard, the length of his tied looped laces is significantly longer. Continuity mistake: When Biff's car slams into the manure truck, in the first shot the side of the truck is adjacent to the car's back passenger door, but in the next overhead shot the side of the truck is adjacent to the front windshield. (01:07:20)

Continuity mistake: In the cafeteria, when Mr. Strickland is glaring at Marty and Biff, the table Marty was sitting at with George is behind him. When Biff leaves there is a close-up of the table and both the lunch tray and Marty's jacket have changed positions significantly from the previous shots (George had already left). (01:00:30)

Continuity mistake: When the clock tower tolls at 10:00, Marty rushes to the DeLorean and as he drives off there are two huge cable spindles at the curb's red edge, near the cloth (lying on the street) that covered the DeLorean. In the next overhead shot, with Doc Brown on the ledge, the cable spindles are gone down below. (01:35:50)

Continuity mistake: After the dance, when Marty arrives at the clock tower in Doc's car (across the street from the DeLorean), he parks precisely midway between the two stores. As the clock tolls, Marty jumps into the DeLorean, and in the overhead shot as Marty drives off, Doc's car is directly in front of the store with the blue awning. (01:31:20 - 01:36:00)

Continuity mistake: At the clock tower, after the tree limb falls, Doc Brown grabs the loose, messy bundle of rope and instructs Marty, but in the next shot when Doc runs up the stairs, the rope is tied up in a rather tidy bundle. This rope bundle changes yet again as he rushes up and then reaches the top. (01:34:10)

Continuity mistake: In 1955, when Doc Brown pulls Marty's letter out of his coat pocket, he either holds the envelope at its short side edge or at its long top edge, depending on the angle of the shots. (01:32:20)

Continuity mistake: In 1955, when George walks into his house, Marty thinks of Mystery Science Theatre and looks at the vanishing photograph, and at the dance, after George punches Biff and rescues Lorraine, again Marty looks at the vanishing photo. In these two close-ups the thumb holding the photo looks nothing like Marty's thumb/nail in other close-ups, such as when he powers up the amp at Doc Brown's at the start. (00:03:15 - 01:23:45)

Continuity mistake: In 1955, when Marty drives the DeLorean to the 'start here' line that Doc painted on the street, the line and large white lettering are faded and filthy, but when Marty gets out of the car to insert the hook pole, the line and lettering are bright and immaculate. When he finally starts the DeLorean they're back to faded and filthy. (01:36:30 - 01:38:55)

Continuity mistake: Just after Doyle's car hits the sand-filled barrels, in the shot facing Gavin in his car, Doyle is seen in the background having removed his seatbelt, but in Doyle's next close-up he is still buckled and proceeds to remove the seatbelt again. (00:08:15)

Continuity mistake: After Gavin's second accident on the FDR there is a cut on his nose and another on his cheek. The characteristics - such as severity, size and position - of these cuts keep changing in the following scenes. (01:02:00)
