Gravity (2013)

Gravity mistake picture

Continuity mistake: After the rope keeping Ryan and Matt tethered together is snapped, Ryan continues drifting downwards towards the Earth. The shot continues panning until the camera stops with the camera high up. As she falls, the ropes from the parachute around the satellite are on Ryan's right. In the next shot from low down, the ropes from the parachute have moved to Ryan's left. She was only shown spiralling downwards throughout the shot, so her position next to the ropes would not have been affected. (00:30:25)

The Simpsons (1989)

Question: Several items thrown into the portal at the abandoned warehouse comes back through another end. How exactly do the items manage to get from the other dimension back through the other end of the portal?

Casual Person

Chosen answer: As seen in the film, the portals are in flux. They are constantly activating and deactivating, potentially pulling items through from one dimension to another.

MasterOfAll

Question: Is there any explanation to why several items thrown into the portal in the abandoned warehouse comes back whilst other stuff thrown into the portal doesn't?

Casual Person

Chosen answer: No explanation is given, but the answer is onscreen. When Jane and Thor walk into the cave after meeting Malekith, they find the other objects that were thrown into the portal that didn't return. Jane doesn't offer an explanation of how, but understands the implications of returning home. Given the fluctuating gravitational fields, we can only assume that the times at which objects entered the portal were the differentiating factor. It should also be noted that everything thrown through the portal was some kind of metal, so that might be a factor.

American Dad (2005)

Crotchwalkers - S9-E4

Other mistake: When Francine gives the family gifts, Stan writes "How did you pay for this?" on his board. Francine replies "Well, money, of course" to which Stan writes another sentence on his board. He starts writing without clearing the board, yet when he turns the board back to show the sentence "Is that true, Steve?", the original "How did you pay for this?" isn't visible on the board, despite not clearing it. Continuity mistake: As Thor and Odin watch the people practicing battling, Odin says Thor has earned his gratitude. Thor says "Thank you" lowering his head. In the next shot, his head is suddenly raised. (00:10:35)

Casual Person

Continuity mistake: After the battle of Vanaheim has ended, the scene cuts to Asgard where Odin watches people practicing battling and is joined by Thor. The shot after Odin says "Vanaheim secure?" shows Thor with his head half turned to Odin. Next shot he's suddenly looking at the battling people without his head turned an inch. (00:10:15)

Family Guy (1999)

A Fistful of Meg - S12-E4

Continuity mistake: In the episode "FOX-y Lady" (7-10) it was established that Quagmire was 61 years old. In this episode, Quagmire stated to Meg he was bullied in 1986 and a flashback shows that he was a teenager. So how could Quagmire have been bullied in 1986 as a teenager if he should have been in his 30's at this time? (00:12:15)

The Avengers (2012)

Chosen answer: Probably. If you look at the map in the end of Iron Man 2, you can see all sorts of "superheroes" marked on it. New Mexico is also marked, where Thor would take place (in continuity) a few days after the events of Iron Man 2. Plus, when Fury was talking to the council, they also mentioned Thor and that he might be either an asset or an enemy.

Friso94

Question: The Bifrost was destroyed at the end of the first film and Thor was sent back to Earth another way in The Avengers. So can someone explain to me why he didn't visit Jane then? Or at least after Loki's plans were foiled?

Casual Person

Chosen answer: The Tesseract on Earth posed a great threat to everyone. Thor wanted to get it and Loki to Asgard as soon as possible. If he first had to track down Jane in Norway, that could take a while and leave the Tesseract vulnerable.

Blackadder (1986)

Blackadder mistake picture

Born to Be King - S1-E2

Continuity mistake: After Blackadder talks to Baldrick and Percy about the plan, Blackadder walks to the window to notice MacAngus getting on a horse to exit the castle. The shot where Blackadder walks over to the window shows only one window above the window Blackadder looks out of and nothing more. A couple of shots later when the camera is in front of Blackadder, two extra windows have appeared from nowhere. There was an iron maiden there which could have blocked the view, but at least six inches of wall are shown between the iron maiden and window, so the window couldn't have been blocked by it. Not to mention the window panes are in a grid of 3x3 from inside, but 4x4 from outside. (00:15:45)

The Adventures of Tintin mistake picture

Tintin and the Picaros: Part 1 - S2-E8

Revealing mistake: After Haddock snaps the door to the window, the big guy enters the room pointing a gun at Haddock. The shot then cuts to Haddock with fruit all over the place. Look to the left of screen and you'll an apple laid on top of another apple completely unnaturally. (00:10:00)

Tintin and the Picaros: Part 1 - S2-E8

Revealing mistake: After Tintin, Haddock and Calculus meet Colonel Alvarez, they are seen driving through downtown in a car. Watch the people, buildings and posters on the sidewalk. Each time the shot cuts, it is always the exact same people. Exact same buildings. And exact same posters on the sidewalk. Also, as Calculus starts talking, the same thing has been done again, except the background is different. (00:07:05)

Tintin and the Picaros: Part 1 - S2-E8

Revealing mistake: Just after Tintin says "The last I heard he was hiding in the jungle trying to organize the resistance", a shot is shown of the plane window flying over the clouds with a shadow on the clouds. The plane flies over a cloud with part of it missing and for one frame only, the shadow is seen going over the part of the cloud that was missing. (00:05:40)
