Continuity mistake: When the elevator door opens on the fifth floor after the screenwriter gets his eyes gouged out, we can see that the light for the number 5 on the control panel beside the elevator is no longer lit when the door opens. But in the next shot, the number 5 is suddenly lit again. (00:42:15)

Other mistake: In the shot where the elevator door opens after the screenwriter hears the music playing, the control panel (for the basement) shows the building goes up to eleven floors. When the elevator opens on Floor 5, we can see the control panel on this floor only goes up to ten floors, despite being in the same building. (00:41:55)

Perfect Blue (1997)
Revealing mistake: When the screenwriter hears the music playing, there is a wide shot of the parking lot he is in. In the shot, many of the number plates on the cars do not have any numbers or letters drawn onto them. There is a white car beside the elevator that has a very faint M and the start of another letter beside it, but is incomplete. And the number plates on the cars facing opposite the screenwriter do not have any numbers or letters at all. (00:41:47)

Perfect Blue (1997)
Continuity mistake: When the screenwriter is in the parking lot waiting for the elevator to arrive, he presses a button and a number on the control panel lights up depending on which floor the elevator is currently on. It then cuts to a wide shot of the parking lot, where none of the numbers on the control panel are lit up. (00:41:45)

Continuity mistake: When Mima jumps and lands face down on her bed when she starts crying, her right elbow is right up against the wall in the overview shot, but in the next shot, her arm is suddenly much further away from it. (00:37:00)

Continuity mistake: When Mima is in her apartment, in the shot where she says "I'm home, fishies", there is a game console shown on one of the shelves. There are two wires coming out of the back, connecting to the controllers. Their positioning and direction changes between shots. (00:36:09)

Revealing mistake: Whilst they are filming the rape scene, after the director yells cut, he tells the actor playing the rapist to do it faster. The actor who plays the rapist then lifts his head and apologises, and we can see that he has been drawn without a face. (00:33:34)

Perfect Blue (1997)
Continuity mistake: When Rumi is arguing with the producer about Mima's rape scene, whilst she is saying "it's our job to protect the celebrities in our agency and there is no way Mima can do such a thing", Rumi is shown holding a pen in her left hand. The shot cuts to Mima telling Rumi she has made the decision, but when it cuts back to Rumi standing up, the pen has disappeared from her hand. (00:29:42)

Continuity mistake: Whilst Mima is walking down the street, in the shot where she is breathing and then turns her head to look at televisions on display, her arms are at her side. When she is on the television in the next shot, her right hand is suddenly holding onto her bag strap. (00:26:03)

Continuity mistake: In the shot of Mima lying face down on her bed, there is a brown handheld mirror shown on the nightstand to the bottom left hand corner of the frame. But in the next shot, the handheld mirror on the nightstand is now red. (00:10:03)

Revealing mistake: When Mima begins performing her final song at the CHAM concert, there is a shot of three audience members at the front talking with one another. In the shot, the stalker character walks into frame. In the first few frames when he first appears, there are two drops of blood on the right hand side of his face. But these drops of blood were not drawn into every single frame of the shot, as they pop off his face mid-way through the shot. (00:08:07)

Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky (1991)
Continuity mistake: The warden attempts to trap Ricky by pushing a table at him. On the table there is a tray filled with meat from when the warden forced an inmate's arm into a meat grinder earlier in the scene. In the shot where he first pushes the table, the meat in the tray is towards the right hand corner of the tray. Ricky then jumps over the table and the meat is now towards the left hand side. Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky (1991)
Revealing mistake: When the warden has finished shoving the inmate's arm into the meat grinder, there is a shot of the warden pulling the inmate away from the grinder and showing him the tray of meat made from his arm. In the shot, we can see that the inmate's face has been covered in white powder to make him appear as if his face has gone pale due to the blood loss, but it makes his face look completely unnatural, and not at all how a human face would ever appear in a situation like that. Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky (1991)
Revealing mistake: Whilst the cell is filling with cement, Ricky runs over to the steel door and bursts through it to escape. In the shot of him bursting through the door, we can see that the interior of the door is extremely thin and is barely a millimeter deep, revealing that it is a fake prop door and not steel. Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky (1991)
Revealing mistake: In the shot where Ricky punches the prison wall, a split-second before Ricky punches it, a faint outline can be seen to the right of him that gets blasted out of the wall a second later, revealing where the wall was filled in with fake debris and later plastered over. (01:29:59)

Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky (1991)
Other mistake: Whilst Ricky is fighting Wong Chun, White God attempts to sneak away by getting into one of the dumbwaiters, but the warden shoots him and he explodes. The bullet is shown hitting him in the face, but given the position of White God's body and where the warden was shooting, this would be impossible. When White God crawls into the dumbwaiter, the pantry door is shown closing behind him, so the bullet would have been blocked by the door and would have made it impossible to hit him in the face. Revealing mistake: Whilst Rumi is speaking with the producer about Mima, a man comes into the room to talk about how the new CHAM is coming along. When the man stops walking to take out a magazine and places it on the table, it can be noticed that, due to an animation error, his legs pass in front of a coffee cup on the table. (00:24:18)
