Continuity mistake: Before the mutants ambush the guards, they are walking in a single-file line, with Sunfire in front, followed by Jubilee, Mystique, Caliban, an unnamed female mutant, and Aurora. A couple of shots later, either Aurora or her similarly-dressed twin brother Northstar is suddenly at the front of the line.(00:08:55)
Factual error: When Professor X is calling Moira McTaggart in Scotland, the phone number he uses is shown to have only dialed the exit code of 011, followed by a fictional seven-digit number with a 555 prefix. Since he is calling from the United States, he would have to dial the country code (44) and area code for the right part of Scotland. Plus UK numbers at that time had at least 9 numbers.(00:08:20)
Other mistake: When Cyclops, Rogue and Jean Grey exit the War Room to depart for Genosha, at the top of the door frame there is a black spec moving around, possibly indicating that there was some debris or a clump of dust on the animation cells or the camera lens itself during filming.(00:08:15)
Continuity mistake: When Cyclops hangs up the phone, he is standing next to a table on which the phone is located. When the shot changes, either the table has disappeared altogether or Cyclops has suddenly moved several feet away from it.(00:06:10)
Continuity mistake: When Cyclops hangs up the phone, the base of the phone shows three rows of five buttons. When the shot changes, there are now only four buttons per row.(00:06:10)
Continuity mistake: Gambit and Jubilee are shown to be grouping together what appears to be several pieces of malleable rebar. When the shot changes to Gambit reassuring Jubilee that Storm is alive, he is shown to be working with a single piece of rebar. When the shot changes again, they are back to working with a bunch of rebar.(00:05:00)
Plot hole: After Storm's attempt to escape the Genoshan prison is thwarted, she ends up in the ocean right at the shoreline of the beach, where she is captured by a Sentinel. Aside from the fact that it makes no sense for a Sentinel to be hiding in the ocean in the event that a mutant tries to escape the prison, there is absolutely no way that a two-story tall robot could hide in the ocean right by the beach, as the water would be way too shallow. You can even see that the water level only goes up to the Sentinel's ankle area when it is standing upright in the ocean.(00:03:15)
Suggested correction:Perception. (1) The Sentinel isn't as close as it appears. If it were close, then she would have been caught in its waves as it emerges. Also, she would be looking only at its chest circle. It's several yards away. (2) She washes ashore. She fell from the sky. She couldn't have fallen from that great height into shallow water without hitting bottom. (3) It's also a two-story tall robot. Its weight would sink it into the sand. So it could have very well been down that deep.
Factual error: After Eric offends Corinna, she is able to write, record, mix, package and distribute an album of music within, at most, a matter of days to spite him. Accomplishing all that within such a short amount of time would be logistically impossible.
Character mistake: When the civilians are fleeing the coffee shop, there are two spelling errors on the coffee shop's marquee. Firstly, the name of the coffee shop is Rip Van Winkle, but on the marquee, Winkle is spelled as "Winkile." To the right of that, Coffee House is spelled as "Coffe House."(00:16:55)
Continuity mistake: When the coffee shop owner is strong-arming Xavier, he is first shown gripping Xavier by the collar of his sweater. A couple of shots later, the coffee shop owner's hand is gripping the collar from inside the sweater.(00:15:30)
Continuity mistake: The devil horns, mustache and goatee that Tommy spray paints on the picture of Harry change appearance between shots.(00:16:40 - 00:17:15)
Wolverine: So what are we up against with this Iceman?
Professor X: We're not against him, Wolverine. Wolverine: So then we're with him?!
Professor X: Of course not! He's destroying federal property! Wolverine: Boy, I'm glad we cleared that up.
Plot hole: Hoffman is able to implicate Agent Strahm as the mastermind behind the main series of traps in this film by planting Strahm's cell phone at the scene. However, Hoffman is repeatedly shown to be touching things at the scene without wearing gloves, so a forensics sweep of the crime scene afterwards would show Hoffman's fingerprints all over the place and reveal him to be the actual mastermind. Agent Erickson arrives at the crime scene before the two survivors of the traps complete their tests, so the forensics team would have been called in before Hoffman had a chance to remove any evidence that would incriminate himself. As a forensics officer himself, Hoffman should know better.
Plot hole: When Rigg is listening to the tape in the first hotel room, the tape instructs him to wear the pig mask in order to conceal his identity from the hotel cameras. Rigg wasn't wearing the mask when he entered the hotel, so putting the mask on after the cameras have already seen his face would do absolutely nothing to conceal his identity.(00:36:00)
Revealing mistake: When Ivan impales his right eye, you can tell that the eye is fake because he doesn't so much as flinch when the blade is coming down.(00:45:00)
Revealing mistake: When Hunt is bringing the eagle egg to Shaquinna, he trips over a log and the egg goes spinning through the air, during which time you can see the wire that the egg is attached to.(00:59:15)
Continuity mistake: Mulder writes Kritschgau's name on the ulnar side of the palm of Skinner's right hand. Later when Skinner is looking for Kritschgau in his apartment building, the writing is on a different part of Skinner's palm, beginning around the middle and extending diagonally towards the thumb.(00:11:50 - 00:15:30)
