We're in the Money - S7-E18

Character mistake: Mark walks into the house and is surprised to see Cody there, and remarks that he heard he was back. However, just before this, when Mark entered the house, Cody's van - which Mark had to walk by to enter the house - was visible through the open door, so that should have confirmed it for Mark before he saw Cody in person.

Avengers: Infinity War trivia picture

Trivia: The final shot of Thanos smiling while sitting on the porch of a farmhouse is a nod to the ending of the "Infinity Gauntlet" storyline, which showed a defeated but optimistic Thanos similarly residing on a farm and smiling.

General questions

A few years ago I was scrolling through titles on Netflix and came across a horror movie (an anthology one if I remember correctly). The artwork depicted a man holding a knife in one hand and his own severed head in the other. The poster was evocative of movie posters from the 1980s, which leads me to believe the movie came out in that decade. Does anyone know what movie this is?

Phaneron

Answer: Found it! It's called "From a Whisper to a Scream."

Season 6 generally

Deliberate mistake: Lily was an infant for all of season 5, but beginning with this season, she is around 5 years old. The show didn't jump forward in time, because JT states in a season 5 episode that he is 19, and in the episode this season where he and Rich go to Mexico, he states that he is almost 20, as well as Al and Mark are both still in high school.

The Simpsons (1989)

Mr. Plow - S4-E9

Homer: When two best friends work together, not even God himself can stop them.
God: Oh, no? [God proceeds to melt all the snow in Springfield, effectively destroying Homer and Barney's snow plow businesses].

Trivia: In this film, Thanos' plan to wipe out half of all sentient life stems from his desire to bring balance to the universe. In the comics, he is motivated by his unrequited love for the physical embodiment of death. Death does eventually make her MCU debut in the Disney+ series Agatha All Along.

Trivia: Doctor Strange learns of the coming of Thanos after Hulk/Bruce Banner crash lands into the Sanctum Sanctorum and informs Strange of the looming threat. This is taken straight from the "Infinity Gauntlet" storyline, though there it is Silver Surfer that warns Doctor Strange.

Phaneron

Trivia: When Thanos is battling the Guardians in the Collector's lair, he turns Drax into a bunch of cubes and Mantis into ribbons. He does the same thing in the "Infinity Gauntlet" storyline to his brother Starfox and Nebula, respectively.

Phaneron

Trivia: Despite its namesake, this film is based more on Marvel's "Infinity Gauntlet" storyline than it is "Infinity War." The latter storyline actually featured many of Marvel's heroes teaming up with Thanos to defeat a villain called the Magus.

The Punisher (2004)

Stupidity: During the final shootout in Saint's club, Lincoln (the long-haired hitman) sneaks up on the Punisher and fires at his chest with a shotgun at point-blank range, which does not harm the Punisher because of his body armor. Even though Lincoln could see that the Punisher was wearing body armor, he takes another point-blank shot at his chest to no effect when he had a clear head shot.

General questions

I caught the tail end of a presumably made-for-television movie some time in the early to mid 90s. It featured a man who had himself altered to look exactly like another man whose life and family he wanted. The two ended up fighting with one of them falling to his death. We are led to believe the evil man died, but it is shortly thereafter revealed that he was the one who survived when he is shown shuffling a coin on his knuckles, which my brother told me is something he was shown doing earlier in the movie. Does anyone have any idea what the title of this movie is?

Phaneron

Chosen answer: I believe this is the 1994 TV movie 'Natural Selection' starring C. Thomas Howell.

Purple_Girl

That's it. Thanks. I was wondering for years what that movie was called.

Tennis the Menace - S12-E12

Kent Brockman: That's game, set and match to us. But the real winners here are Marge's hors d'oeuvres.
Homer: Wow, how do you come up with such witty remarks?
Kent Brockman: Ha ha, well...
[Two men are suddenly shown in a news van giving Kent typed responses through an earpiece.]
Tech Guy #1: [to his coworker, who is typing out a response] Come on, come on. Hurry up. [The coworker hands him the response] "I guess you could say it's my racket."
Kent Brockman: I guess you could say I'm Iraqi.
Homer: [Gasps] Get off my property.

Homer: Welcome to the Internet, my friend. How can I help you?
Comic Book Guy: I'm interested in upgrading my 28.8 kilobaud Internet connection to a 1.5 megabit fiber optic T-1 line. Will you be able to provide an IP router that's compatible with my token ring ethernet LAN configuration?
[The two look at each other awkwardly for a few seconds.]
Homer: Can I have some money now?

Hook (1991)

Question: Why didn't Tinkerbell grant Rufio the ability to fly? He was the de facto leader of the Lost Boys in Peter Pan's absence, and they looked up to him when he is first introduced.

Phaneron

Answer: It's possible Tinkerbell didn't feel Rufio deserved the ability to fly, especially with him being a bit of a jerk.

Answer: It's unknown why Tinkerbell didn't do this.
