Audio problem: Storm's upper and lower lips are completely separated and her teeth clenched when she says "I am free!" She wouldn't be able to say the words "am" and "free" without touching her lips together.(00:12:20)
Continuity mistake: When Beast contacts Rogue on her wrist communicator, you can see she is wearing the usual yellow gloves, green sleeves and brown jacket of her uniform. When the shot changes, she is wearing the long-sleeve blue shirt without gloves that she was wearing earlier in the episode.(00:07:40)
Trivia: In the establishing shot of New York City, there is a banner advertising the New York City Comic Con with the tagline "'Nuff Said!" "'Nuff Said!" is one of the catchphrases of X-Men co-creator Stan Lee.(00:04:40)
Audio problem: When Sauron says "Ka-Zar, I warned you!", Ka-Zar is actually the one mouthing the line. Note: this mistake may only apply to the DVD version of the episode. Sauron is the one mouthing the line in the Disney+ version of the episode.(00:02:40)
Continuity mistake: At the very beginning of the episode, Sauron can be seen wearing the necklace of Garokk. Not only is he not wearing the necklace a few shots later, but he isn't even supposed to have the necklace until a few minutes later in the episode when Zaladane gives it to him after he reverts to his human form.(00:01:05 - 00:04:10)
Revealing mistake: When Brooke is getting a Brazilian wax, if you look closely you'll see that after the aesthetician performs the rip, there is no hair or wax residue to be seen on the muslin strip.(00:56:55)
Trivia: The main antagonists in this episode as well as the episode that follows it are the Inner Circle. In the comics, the Inner Circle are a sort of clandestine group of mutants that operate within an elitist social group known as the Hellfire Club. Due to censorship reasons, the Hellfire Club aspect of the group is not acknowledged. Its members are visually based on famous actors. Sebastian Shaw is based on Robert Shaw, Harry Leland is based on Orson Welles, Donald Pierce is based on Donald Sutherland, and Mastermind in his Jason Wyngarde persona is based on Peter Wyngarde. The White Queen/Emma Frost is based on the character Emma Peel from the British television series "The Avengers."
Revealing mistake: During the battle scene at the beginning of the film, you can tell that the group of soldiers in the background are just animatronics because their bodies remain stationary while their arms move in a clockwork repetitive manner.(00:01:45)
Trivia: Throughout the course of its initial nine-year run, The X-Files had crossovers with 3 other television shows: the short-lived Millennium in the season 7 episode "Millennium," COPS in the season 7 episode "X-COPS" and Homicide: Life on the Street in the season 5 episode "Unusual Suspects." The crossover with Homicide: Life on the Street is especially noteworthy as that show was produced by a different network. The X-Files also had a non-canon crossover with The Simpsons in their season 8 episode "The Springfield Files."
Other mistake: When the text depicting the episode name appears on screen after the opening credits, it says "The Phoenix Saga Part 2, The Cry of the Banshee." It should read "The Phoenix Saga Part 3, The Cry of the Banshee." Note: this mistake may only apply to the DVD version of the episode. The episode that appears on Disney+ correctly depicts it as "Part III."(00:02:20)
Continuity mistake: Throughout the first four episodes of "The Phoenix Saga" Lilandra has a slightly robotic effect to her voice. In this episode the effect is absent.
Trivia: Fellow Marvel Superheroes War Machine and Spider-Man make brief cameos during the montage of catastrophic events around Earth, although all you see of Spider-Man is his shadow and then his left hand when he shoots a web.(00:11:45)
Other mistake: When the X-Men and Corsair encounter D'Ken in the hallway, D'Ken, Gladiator and Lilandra remain in the background while the X-Men and Corsair are wiped from the screen. It's as if this was meant to be a zoom in on D'Ken, Gladiator and Lilandra, but their size relative to the camera remained the same and the X-Men and Corsair are simply removed from view.(00:19:35)
Continuity mistake: After the Starjammer has crashed onto the surface of the world inside the M'Kraan Crystal, Cyclops is missing his gloves.(00:07:50)
Plot hole: Rogue is able to punch Gladiator and knock him off his feet, yet in the previous episode when the Juggernaut punched Gladiator he didn't even budge. The Juggernaut is a lot stronger than Rogue, so either Juggernaut's punch should have affected Gladiator or Rogue's punch should not have.(00:17:55)
Other mistake: When Gambit is tossing playing cards in Lilandra's helmet, he is shown tossing four cards. All four cards are the exact same card (the ace of spades).(00:13:30)
