Question: As a homicide detective, why would Columbo have been present at an apparent drowning incident?
Answer: "Apparent" drowning answers your question - things are not always as they seem. Drowning could be accidental, but it could also be a murder in disguise. Moreover, the actual cause of death has not yet been determined - accident, suicide, murder, or natural cause (e.g, heart attack while swimming). Columbo would be there to investigate if anything looks unusual for it to be a mere drowning or if there is evidence or suspicion of something else.
This was just on TMZ.com's "Aaron Carter Dead at 34" (11/05/2022): "Law enforcement sources tell TMZ... homicide detectives have been dispatched to the scene but we have no information or evidence of foul play. It's standard operating procedure for homicide detectives to investigate such [drowning] death scenes."
Question: This question applies to this movie and all the other movies where Jason is the killer. Whenever Jason is unmasked, why does his face always look different from the previous film?
Answer: Quite simply, different crews and effects teams worked on different movies, and they wanted to put their own stamp on the character and do their own interpretations. They also understandably wanted to make him look more and more monstrous and scary with each film to try to "outdo" the last one.
Question: Is the 1989 Ghostbusters II film still canon or does this film retcon it?
Answer: Yes, it is still canon. Director Jason Reitman has confirmed it is, and there are actually lots of easter eggs referencing it in "Afterlife." For example, Ray still has his bookstore from "Ghostbusters II." The "dancing toaster" is in the farmhouse. Etc. They chose not to directly reference it in dialogue since it didn't have much to do with the plot, but there are plenty of hidden details confirming it is still canon. Reitman has also said that there are plans to possibly bring back more plot/characters from "Ghostbusters II" in the future. (It just depends on what direction the sequel ends up going in).
Question: Why didn't Richard Bremmer reprise his role as Voldemort in the subsequent movies?
Answer: You have to understand his role was very small and therefore he was not established as the face of Voldemort yet. So when the time came to cast a Voldemort they didn't immediately think of Bremmer. I think they were looking for a younger actor, to make Voldemort appear more energetic. Fiennes is also more experienced in playing a big role.
Question: Why would the town turn on Laurie and accuse her of provoking Michael's attacks when she was a victim and spent almost the entire time in the hospital?
Answer: Michael's primary target is Laurie but, since he's also going around killing random people, most likely everybody believes that Michael is killing anybody who gets in his way to get to Laurie.
Answer: Because the town, Haddonfield, needed someone, anyone, to blame, and Laurie, being that she survived both the '78 killings and then the 2018 massacre, was likely the only viable choice.
Question: Is Callahan holding the binoculars upside down when he is peering down on the apartments looking for Scorpio? He is on the rooftop with the Jesus Saves Sign. They look upside down to me. (00:38:39)
Answer: Yes the binoculars are upside down.
Question: Although I enjoy the game of ice hockey, I still haven't fully understood the tactics teams have. Having said that, what is the tactics of putting 2 heavy enforcers in Fulton Reed and Dean Portman on the same line? Wouldn't it be better if they were on separate lines throughout the games, having at least one heavy hitting enforcer on the ice longer than 2 on the same line that I've noticed in the movies?
Answer: There may be a number of reasons, but the most likely is that, if players work really well together, it makes sense to have them on the same line, regardless if they are both enforcers or not. To give an example, the 1990s Detroit Red Wings had the "Grind Line", which consisted of three forwards who were all known for their aggressive, physical style. The two wingers in particular were team enforcers. They meshed so well as a unit it wouldn't have been as effective to split them onto different lines, just to provide an enforcer to each. The combination of all three on one line worked very well, and other teams copied the format, though of course it was not unique to this team (see, for example, the Philadelphia Flyers' Legion of Doom).
Question: How were the ones who crashed/ejected rescued if they were in dangerous enemy territory?
Question: Why doesn't Chuck just leave from the other side of the island?
Answer: Probably a variety of reasons. He could not have dragged the heavy raft to the island's other side. Even if he could, it's unlikely there was a flat clear path to get there. There may not have been an accessible beach on that side where he could launch from or that was suitable for establishing a new camp where he could build the raft.
Question: Albeit hesitant, Marty the bus driver hands over his jacket and pants to Owen, but gets defensive when Owen asks for his hat and says "My hat?! Why my hat?! What is so special about a hat? I feel Marty should have been more hesitant about handing over his pants than a silly hat?
Answer: The hat is like a trophy for the bus driver.
Question: Why does Lori tell Daryl that Rick will show him where his brother is but then 10 minutes later tried to talk Rick out of going?
Answer: No, she actually tries to talk Rick out of it, but he's already made up his mind, minutes later when Daryl asks him about the location of his brother Lori says "he'll show you."
Answer: It's not shown, but I think Lori is suffering from some sort of PTSD due to thinking her husband had died, having an affair with Shane and of course the zombie apocalypse as well! This isn't the only time she contradicts herself so it kinda backs this theory up.
Question: Silver tells Chozen he's never had any children himself. If that's the case, then how are people calling Snake from part 3 Silver's son?
Answer: I've seen the 1989 movie many times and never once did Silver ever present Snake as his "son." Snake and Dennis were two young men who simply worked for and/or lived with Silver and only called "the boys" when Mike first arrived.
I never said it was said in the movie. I said people are saying it. Social media. Etc.
Simple, people don't know anything and assume baseless things for absolutely no reason.
Answer: When the movie came out in '89, it was revealed that the director's son had a part written just for him as the villain's son, and he would be called Snake. This relationship, however, was never addressed in the film itself and Snake just became a member of the house staff for Silver.
Question: Harry opens a door causing a bag of tools to fall on his head. In real life, wouldn't Harry have been badly injured if that really did happen to him?
Answer: The YouTube channel Screen Junkies did a video consulting with a doctor called "Honest Action - Home Alone" in which they break down all the traps Harry and Marv encounter and what the real consequences would have been. For this one in particular, they said Harry would have been killed by a skull fracture and a possible epidural hematoma.
Answer: There are numerous YouTube videos of real doctors analyzing the traps in Home Alone 1&2 and what would "really" happen to Harry and Marv and almost every doctor who examined the bag of wrenches trap said Harry would've most likely died of severe head trauma, brain bleeding, skull fracture etc. You gotta check them out.
Answer: Yes it would have. In real life, a lot of the traps Kevin sets in both films would have seriously injured or killed both Harry and Marv.
Question: Why didn't the people going through the cave on the way in, experience the same mental effect as when they tried to leave?
Answer: It's just like the difference between swimming downstream and swimming upstream. It's tough to bring yourself out against the gradient.
Question: Why didn't the lady who was originally with Mid-Size Sedan decay quicker, and we were able to see her body intact when she hit young Trent in the water?
Answer: Because she was 'freshly' dead when she hit Trent.
Question: Isn't Hangman's ammo still full after he hits the bandit chasing Mav and Rooster? Shouldn't it be short of the fired rocket?
Answer: You're correct - when you see Hangman's loadout before he lands back on the deck - he still has all weapons on the rails - it should be that he is short an AIM-9 or an AIM-120 AMRAAM depending on what was fired.
In all shots of Hangman's F/A-18E after the final battle (especially in the close-up right before he lands on the carrier), it is shown that there is an AIM-120 loaded onto the right air intake weapon station. The left air intake station is empty - indicating either no weapon was loaded or an AIM-7/AIM-120 was fired.
You can see that all his missiles are still intact and even if one is missing it would be very unlike to only load on the right and not the left as well. But where he says "This is your savior speaking" you can see all missiles are still on the plane and unfired.
