Question: When the Debutante examines herself in the mirror, why does she center on and support her breast just before doubling over in pain?

Answer: She was most likely giving herself a breast-self examination. Doing this would enable her to feel for lumps, distortion or swelling which if felt early would mean that she might have early stages of breast cancer and could get it checked immediately.

Her breast was sensitive and painful because she could sense that something wasn't right with her.

So the alien embryo inside of her body was giving her cancer?

No. It wasn't giving her cancer. She probably does a breast-self examination periodically to insure that there's nothing wrong with her breasts.

Plus, it wouldn't make any sense for an alien embryo to give her cancer since after giving birth to an alien hybrid she would immediately die.

Answer: She could feel discomfort in her breast as she moved her hands down to her stomach.

Question: How did they work out Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev were the bombers?

Answer: The Tsarnaev brothers were telegraphing their complicity in the bombings by their crimes as they were trying to escape Boston police, such as shooting the campus cop, carjackings, and throwing pipe bombs at the cops during curfew and a dragnet/door-to-door search in the area. Shootouts and throwing bombs at law enforcement officers after a deadly bombing would attract the attention of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Question: Is the story of Mor'du the possible reason for Elinor's strict and bossy personality, wanting Merida to act like a princess?

Answer: No. Even without the story of Mor'du, Queen Elinor would still be strict and bossy to mold Merida into a proper princess and get her ready to marry the son of a prominent and powerful clan.

Question: Why did the Boston marathon bombers do what they did? Why did they target the Boston marathon?

Answer: The brothers were indoctrinated into the terrorist tactic of inflicting as much damage as possible on as large a stage as possible. Since the Boston Marathon was an annual event important not only to Bostonians but to participants from around the world and world news media would be covering it, then it made sense to the Tsarnaev brothers to kill/maim as many people as possible and achieve maximum exposure via the news media. Those two goals were easily met by their attack on the Boston Marathon.

Scott215

Answer: No, not in the slightest. The names are similar, but it's an entirely new and different story.

Answer: When he told her that he knew about her still wearing diapers. He did it to get back at her for being so mean to him and they decided to call it even.

Answer: Christine was extremely close to her father, who spoke to her of an "Angel of Music" whom he would send from heaven after his death. Christine entered the Paris Conservatoire and trained for four years to become an opera singer to please her father. However, by the end of the four years, she had lost her passion for singing and the music. When Christine arrives at the Opéra Garnier, she was described as "sounding like a rusty hinge." That is when Erik, the Phantom of the Opera, began to speak to Christine during times that she went, alone, to the chapel in the Opera House. Erik began to tutor her, telling her that he is the "Angel of Music" of whom her father had spoken.

Question: Why is Peter still bullied by people in school even though he is in college? I'm referring to the scene where people hit him with backpacks and call him names as well as the scene in "Spider-Man 3" where he is bullied in Dr. Connors' class.

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Other students see him as a nerd and a teacher's pet.

Question: When Agent Tucker tells the air operator that their helicopter altitude is "about 18 Inches", why did she hang up on him? Is it suppose to mean anything sexual? I found this in the "sex and nudity" category on parents guide and I just wonder.

Answer: I don't think it was intended as something sexual. Tucker tells the operator that their altitude is about 18 inches because they were 18 inches over the ground. The operator hung up because they were piloting the helicopter ridiculously close to the ground. She likely thought that they were joking around with her, or weren't taking the situation that seriously, so she just gave up on them.

Casual Person

Answer: The Prime Minister was set to have important talks with Xiang Ping, the Chinese Premier. It is stated in the MI7 briefing scene, by the Prime Minister, that Southeast Asia have begun developing nuclear weapons and they need to convince Xiang Ping to get onside and to try and defuse the situation and improve the relations between the two countries. It is revealed in the scene where Ambrose retrieves the drug from the bank vault, that a man was paying Ambrose 500 million US dollars to assassinate Xiang Ping, presumably to make sure the talks will damage the relations between Britain and China.

Casual Person

Answer: He's never seen again after Johnny takes his wheelchair. The church they were in was covered with MI7 agents, so it is plausible that one of them found him whilst the others were chasing Johnny.

Casual Person

Question: Why did Fisher tell Johnny about Vortex's secret weapon and the plan to kill the Chinese Premiere? Didn't he at all think he'd be in trouble with the rest of Vortex and his paymasters? Didn't he also think that MI7 would try to stop the plan?

THE GAMER NEXT DOOR

Answer: Fisher was against the idea of killing the Chinese Premier. He was aware of the risk that were would be consequences regarding the other members of Vortex, and told MI7 so they would know about Vortex and try to stop it.

Casual Person

Question: Why would Flash Thompson of all people attend Harry's funeral? He bullied Peter and Harry in the first movie.

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: It had been a few years since they were in high school. Perhaps Flash had matured since then and realised his behaviour towards them was wrong, so he came to pay his respects.

Casual Person

This is true to the comics. Eventually Flash matures and becomes close friends with both Peter and Harry.

Answer: Sandman is a fugitive who is on the run. It is more than likely that his name has appeared in the news at some point. His daughter and her illness would likely have also been mentioned as well. Seeing as how Eddie worked at the Daily Bugle, it shouldn't have took long for him to put two and two together.

Casual Person

The symbiote (which turned Eddie into Venom) usually has its previous owner's memories. So Eddie might have known about Sandman's daughter through Peter's memories.

But Peter doesn't seem to know he had a daughter and shows surprise when he's told of her at the end.

Rob245

Supposedly there is a deleted scene where Venom finds out about Sandman's daughter but it was cut for time, so it ends up creating a little bit of a plot hole in the final film.

Phaneron

Question: When Eddie is in his apartment trying to eat, Venom tells him not to answer the door. After that, there's a knock on the door. How was Venom able to tell that there was someone outside Eddie's apartment?

Answer: The symbiote has heightened senses. It could hear someone approaching.

Question: Wouldn't the tidal wave Imhotep summons come towards the blimp from the front? Since O'Connell is behind him, following the clues left by his son. (01:18:05)

Answer: Imhotep's spell causes the river to overflow and create a gigantic wave. The river is flowing in the direction the blimp is going, so the wave comes from behind the blimp.

BaconIsMyBFF

Answer: I know this is an old question, but to be clear, O'Connell is actually ahead of Imhotep at that point in the movie. They arrive at Ahm Shere earlier and setup the ambush. So, the wave coming up behind them is actually correct.

Answer: The Trace only detects when underage wizards use magic. Still, it wouldn't be difficult for Dumbledore, the most powerful wizard in the world, to find or track them.

LorgSkyegon

The trace can also be used to determine location. In Deathly Hallows there was concern that Voldemort's Death Eaters were able to ambush the Trio by using the trace to find them, but Ron insisted it automatically broke when a wizard turned 17.

raywest

Answer: All underage wizards and witches have a Ministry "trace" on them until they are 17 years old that monitors their activities. Dumbledore would be able to use that to locate Harry and then send Hagrid there.

raywest

Also, Harry was no ordinary wizard child because of his connection to Voldemort. As he did not live in the wizard world while growing up, he was vulnerable to harm from the Dark Lord's follower. Extra protections were put on Harry, and he was watched around the clock. His location would always be known.

Question: In the initial (or present) timeline, Claire dies; the ferry blows up; Doug is recruited by the FBI and subsequently find himself at the terrorists' camp where an ambulance is sitting in the destroyed building. The presence of the ambulance suggests a future Doug had to come back in time, but then Claire would have been saved. What's up with that?

Foot2cranium

Answer: Another version of Doug tried to save her but he failed. He realised this and it was shown by his last second decision on the ferry.

Answer: Flawed theory. Doug would have to be recruited previously for that to happen. The time frame for look back most likely would not line up.

Doug from previous timeline failed to rescue Claire. We know what happened to Claire. But the question is where is that "previous" Doug? My guess: a human that was being eaten by croc that current Doug sees was the previous Doug.

That doesn't work. The hand in the alligator pit was white.

Previous Doug died while trying to disarm the bomb. He failed to disarm it in time and was killed when the bomb exploded. Remember at the beginning of the film when Doug arrives at the site, and he's looking at the bodies of the victims in the body bags? He hears a phone ringing and assumes it's his because it has the same ring tone as his. It's not his phone that's ringing but past Doug's phone. The one that went back, failed and died. Previous Doug is now in one of the body bags on the shore.

The other version of Doug died on the ferry in the beginning of the movie. He hears his own cell phone ringtone coming from one of the body bags and looks at his own phone because he thinks it's his.

Doug's phone didn't go back in time. There may be multiple copies of Doug, but there's only one phone.

Question: When Arnold Schwarzenegger is in a solitary cell and pretending to go on a psychotic rant, he says in German, among other things, "I'll rip your eyes out!" Does anyone know what the exact German words he is saying are? I can only make out "augen raus!"

Phaneron

Chosen answer: He says "Ich reiss euch eure Augen raus!" The full text from when he starts speaking German is "Ich kann's nicht aushalten! Arrgh! Ich kann es nicht mehr aushalten! Ich kann nicht mehr! Helft mir. Hoert auf mich zu quaelen. Ich Kann Nicht Mehr!" At this point Stallone opens the tunnel and focus is back on Schwarzenegger. "Ich kann das nicht mehr aushalten! Ich halte die Hitze nicht mehr aus! Ihr bringt mich um! Helft mir! Hoert auf mich zu quaelen! Hoert auf mich zu quaelen! Ich sterbe! Ich kann nicht mehr!" Here camera malfunction is detected. "Mein Herz!" Short break while others are yelling. "Ich hoere euch. Ihr Schweine! Ich hoere euch! Ich bring' euch alle um! Ich reiss' euch eure Augen aus! Ich schneid' eure Eier ab und stopf' sie euch in den Arsch! Oh ja, da sind Sie, oh ja!" Lights are switched off. "Oh nein! Nein! Ich fürchte mich vor der Dunkelheit! Ich habe Angst!" Warden enters the box. "Oh Gott, bitte hilf mir!" Here he starts praying The Lord's Prayer. "Vater unser im Himmel, geheiligt werde dein Name, dein Reich komme, dein Wille geschehe, wie im Himmel, so auch auf Erden. Unser tägliches Brot gib uns heute, und vergib uns unsere Schuld, wie auch wir vergeben unseren Schuldigern, und führe uns nicht in Versuchung, sondern erlöse uns von dem Bösen." He starts yelling again. "Du bist der Böse! Du bist der Teufel!" Stallone climbing, then back to Schwarzenegger. "Habt ihr nicht von jenem tollen Menschen gehoert? Der am hellen Vormittag eine Laterne anzuendete und auf den Markt lief und unaufhoerlich schrie 'Ich suche Gott! Ich suche Gott!'" Translation is: "I can't endure it! Arrgh! I can't endure it any more! I can't endure it! Help me! Stop torturing me! I can't take it any more!" At this point Stallone opens the tunnel and focus is back on Schwarzenegger. " I can't take it any more! I can't bear the heat any more! You are killing me! Help me! Stop torturing me! Stop torturing me! I'm dying! I can't take it any more!" Here camera malfunction is detected. "My heart!" Short break while others are yelling. "I hear you. You pigs! I hear you! I'm going to kill you all! I'm going to rip out your eyes! I'm going to cut off your balls and shove them up your asses! Oh yes, there you are, oh yes!" Lights are switched off. "Oh no! No! I'm afraid of the dark! I'm afraid!" Warden enters the box. "Oh God, please help me!" Here he starts praying The Lord's Prayer. Then he starts yelling again and points at the warden. "You are the evil one! You are the devil!" Stallone climbing, then back to Schwarzenegger. "Didn't you hear of that great man? Who lit a lantern in the bright morning, went to the market place and yelled non stop 'I'm looking for God! I'm looking for God!' "

Question: How did all the colonists get relocated to where the queen is? Do the aliens paralyze them when interacting with them? I can't imagine Hudson going there to be cocooned without struggling.

Answer: In the original script, yes the aliens have a barb at the end of their tails which is used to sting their prey and paralyze them. This was deemed unnecessary, however and the idea was dropped. We are shown an alien grabbing Dietrich and carrying her away and they do indeed just seem to strong-arm their victims and carry them, kicking and screaming the whole way. Bear in mind that a xenomorph is considerably stronger than an average human. It doesn't appear to be any more difficult for them to carry an unwilling human than it would be for a parent carrying a toddler throwing a tantrum.

BaconIsMyBFF

Could be even more than that, they could concuss their captives or release some sort of odour that causes sleepiness. Could be anything. The captives always wake up cocooned before being impregnated so they are anesthetized at some point. We know the facehuggers anesthetize their victims, so the fully grown xenomorphs must have still have the same chemical compound as well.

lionhead

The comic books and novels go into great detail regarding the chemical the facehuggers use to put people to sleep. It has a name and everything. This chemical is what causes some people to have nightmares while they are subdued. Curiously, I've never noticed them saying the adult xenomorph also uses the chemical but like you say, it stands to reason that they do. Why the movies and novels etc. ignore this element entirely is anyone's guess. It seems like an interesting element that has been consistently left out and, like you also say, people just seem to "wake up" after being cocooned but before they are impregnated so obviously they were put to sleep at some point.
