Deliberate mistake: During the opening fight between Rayden and Kahn, at one point Kahn is kicked and lands on the ground in front of his generals. A few seconds later, he is hit and lands on the ground again... in the exact same spot, landing in the exact same position. (Watch for the somersault he does.) It's clear these are two different takes of the same stunt. It wouldn't necessarily be a mistake, except when he gets hit the second time, he flies backwards a bit, so it makes no sense for him to land in the exact same spot as before. Sloppy editing.

Revealing mistake: When Rayden and Kahn fight at the start of the film, at one point Rayden does a flying body-spear into Kahn, which sends him flying backwards. When he lands on the ground, the floor beneath him "warbles," revealing he landed on a pad. It also continues to move a bit for the rest of the shot as he moves.

Continuity mistake: When Rayden says the line "What closes can also open again" in the beginning of the film, watch the background. For this one single shot, the top of the pillar behind him on the left is missing a square-shaped chunk. But in the shots of Rayden before and after, the pillar is totally intact.

Revealing mistake: When the Emperor's generals are introduced at the start of the film, pay attention to Sheeva's lower arms. If you look closely, her lower arms are added digitally and don't quite blend with the actress, nor do they 100% match her motion. (Especially her lower-right arm, which is on the left hand side of the screen. You can see it "clipping" with the background plate. At one point, it even briefly looks like it's floating behind her for a moment instead of being attached to her).

Revealing mistake: Jax and Sonya jumping away from the explosion when Cyrax self-destructs is just comical. The lighting on their bodies doesn't match the lighting in the background, revealing they were just filmed on a green-screen, and the background makes no sense whatsoever. The background is a blurry still image that doesn't have the same color-temperature as the exterior of the base seen earlier, with an obvious stock-explosion effect added over top of it that doesn't blend properly into the scene.

Continuity mistake: When Cyrax's "tattoo" flees his body, it rips a small hole in the metal of his shoulder. A few shots later, when we see the hole again to see the countdown clock, suddenly it's much bigger.

Revealing mistake: During the Jax vs Cyrax fight, at one point Jax gets knocked down to his knee, and then Cyrax kicks him, causing him to fly upwards and backwards and roll over the top of the metal gurney. Except you can see plain as day that Cyrax's kick completely misses Jax. He kicks his leg about two feet in front of Jax's head.

Revealing mistake: When Sonya is facing the "extermination squad" while Jax fights Cyrax, watch closely. At one point, a ninja clad all in black does a jump-kick, which knocks Sonya back. Except if you look closely, he doesn't actually kick her. (It's really obvious when the camera cuts to a side-view and you can see he doesn't have his leg extended.) But they still add in a kicking sound and have Sonya react as though she's been kicked.

Revealing mistake: During the Scorpion vs Sub-Zero fight, after the ice-bridge collapses, when Sub-Zero jumps down to the lower level of the stone bridge to face his foe, you can see the floor beneath him ungulate as he lands, revealing there's a pad beneath the snow.

Continuity mistake: During the Cyrax vs Jax fight, at one point Jax gets knocked to the floor and says "Yo, I take it this ain't something we can talk about?" If you watch, when the camera cuts from a wideshot of him landing to the closeup of him on the floor saying his line, he's suddenly in a completely different spot on the floor and the debris behind him is totally different.

Revealing mistake: Cyras appears, who launches two spherical bombs that attach to the walls and explode. Watch very closely. There is a low angle shot pointed towards a doorway right after they explode, and you can see the set wall visible shake for a brief instant from the pyrotechnics. It can be hard to catch, but once you see it, it's very obvious.

Revealing mistake: When Scorpion explodes, if you pay attention, the explosion doesn't really make "sense." The first "burst" looks fine, but then, midway through the shot, some of the debris in the air suddenly vanishes or fades out a few frames before the second "burst" occurs. Additionally, the way the second "burst" happens gives it away as an added effect, as it doesn't really overlap the background properly. (It looks like an explosion that was filmed on a blue-screen and then just added over top of the footage, as it doesn't interact with the environment properly).

Revealing mistake: When the scarab beetles surround Benni at the end of the film, watch closely... you can see many scarab beetles running directly "through" each other, revealing they are just a digital effect. (This is also visible in other scenes with the beetles, but it's most obvious in this scene, particularly in the first shot when the beetles begin to swarm towards Benni).

Trivia: Early in pre-production, the film was going to be a humorous crossover between the "Men in Black" and "21 Jump Street" film franchises, featuring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill having to go undercover in MIB. The working title was "MIB - 23." The idea was dropped, presumably due to its outlandishness.

Trivia: To date the only "Men in Black" film not directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, and the only "Men in Black" movie not to feature Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith. (Although a painting of Jones and Smith is visible in the film).

Trivia: The film features a cameo from Frank the pug, who appeared in the first two films, but was absent from "Men in Black 3." Oddly enough, despite only appearing in the film for a few seconds, Frank appears quite prominently on several posters and even on the DVD cover art for the film. (The same is true for the "worm guys," who also appear on posters and the DVD cover despite only having a brief cameo in the film).

Trivia: The film was meant to be a major theatrical release and was filmed in 2011. However, the film was shelved, and a lawsuit was subsequently levied against one of the production companies over the mishandling of funds that were supposed to go towards marketing. As a result, the film's theatrical release was eventually cut back to a very small and limited number of theaters, and it was instead released primarily as a direct-to-video film in 2014.

Trivia: Spoilers: When Russell sacrifices himself and drives his plane into the laser, pay attention to the laser exploding in the first shot. It's actually cleverly reused footage of the Empire State Building exploding from the initial attack scene earlier in the film. The image has just been flipped vertically and augmented with some extra fire/explosions to mask the details of the building. But if you look very closely, you can totally tell.
