Continuity mistake: In the scene where the two sailors have found Jack's hat in the water, they try it on in turn. When the second man tried it on, the hat changes position between shots, with no time for him to move it. In one shot, one of the corners is facing front, in the next shot a flat side is facing the front. (00:17:50)

Continuity mistake: When trying to flee, Norrington falls and drops his sword and the chest. As he crawls in the first shot, note the sword's hilt and particularly the hand guard, with its wide part facing up. In the next shot the direction of the hand guard has changed, with its wide part now facing the ground (this has nothing to do with camera angle). (01:58:45)

Continuity mistake: When Pintel and Ragetti argue over the pronunciation of "Kraken" while they're rowing, the loose end of Jack's red bandanna changes position and jumps from his back to over his shoulder, between shots more than once. (01:38:30)

Continuity mistake: This occurs during and after the scene where Jack empties the sand out of the jar and puts the heart inside. After replacing most of the sand, in the later shots the amount of sand in the jar keeps changing. Later in the scene on the Black Pearl, the amount of sand changes from shot-to-shot up until the jar is dropped and breaks. (01:51:40)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where the crew of the Black Pearl is in the two cages climbing up the ravine wall on vines, in one shot, the smaller cage is significantly further behind the one with Will, Gibbs and the others. In the next shot, when there is the conversation about, "it would only take about six," to crew the Pearl, the smaller cage is even with the larger one. (00:35:50)

Continuity mistake: When William is talking to Cutler Beckett after being arrested, a fishing ship is seen out on the ocean, not moving. In the next shot, the ship has disappeared. (00:10:20)

Continuity mistake: As the pirates get dragged through the large castle doors, you see four pirates hanging in metal cages, all the way up to the castle doors. When the castle doors close from an above shot, no hanging pirates are in view. (00:05:15)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Ragetti is balancing the shovel in his hand, he is balancing it in his right hand. Then when we see him through the scope, however, he is balancing it with his left hand (he is still facing us). Then when we cut back to him, he is holding it in his right hand again. (01:40:00)

Continuity mistake: When Elizabeth speaks with Jack at the dock, about finding Will, her white pointed collar repeatedly jumps over and under the brown leather strap, at her right shoulder. (01:14:20)

Continuity mistake: Just before he becomes Shishka-Jack, the rope wound around Jack's arms is higher up at his shoulders, yet it is lower and taut in following shots. (00:33:40)

Continuity mistake: When Cutler Beckett plays with Norrington's sword, as he begins to speak with Governor Swann, the step ladder is to Beckett's right - note its shadow on the wall map. The ladder and its shadows change positions in the following shots. (01:20:35 - 01:21:40)

Continuity mistake: When Cutler Beckett enters his office and places the lantern on the desk, the handle is down. However, when Elizabeth walks out of the shadows, the lantern's handle is upright, then down again in a later shot. (00:27:30)

Continuity mistake: When Elizabeth demands, "What are the charges?" the guard is just putting the shackle on her left wrist, with the right off as well. However, in the previous shot the left shackle is already on and the right is being put on. (00:03:20)

Continuity mistake: In the scene when Jack loses his hat and it drops into the water the hat sides are more curled than when Jack had the hat on his head. (00:17:00)

Continuity mistake: After the monkey throws Jack's hat overboard, Gibbs, Marty, Cotton, et al, run to look over the deck rail, when Gibbs shouts, "Jack's hat!" However, in the next shot it's not until Gibbs turns and shouts, "Clearabout!" that Marty, Cotton and the rest actually reach the deck rail. (00:17:10)

Visible crew/equipment: When Ziva and Gibbs are searching the changing rooms, the camera crew are reflected in The Wall mirrors. (00:12:50)

Continuity mistake: When talking to Bootstrap for the first time, Bootstrap is saying how he was thinking about any chance of escape he would take it. When he's talking, the bone in Jack's hair switches from uncovered to covered between the long and close shots. (00:15:10)

Continuity mistake: Beckett tells Elizabeth that she needs to up her offer. She replies by cocking the gun that is under Beckett's chin. Beckett then walks with the gun under his chin to his desk. However, when he arrives at his desk, the gun is now by his right cheek. (00:28:50)

Continuity mistake: After Mr. Mercer kills Governor Swann's Captain friend, he heads for the carriage to search for Elizabeth. The candle in the carriage lantern differs between shots - note the height and melted wax. (00:26:50)
