Continuity mistake: When Jack and Will are under the bridge, and Jack says, "We're going to commandeer that ship. Nautical term," his right cheek is clean. When he turns to ask Will "One question about your business..." there is a broad black smudge running from his right cheek to the right side of his nose. As he turns around after Will's answer and says, "No worries..." his right cheek is again clean, without ever having touched his face. (00:44:35)
Continuity mistake: Elizabeth holds the medallion chain over the edge of the railing. In the first shot she says, "I'll drop it," the chain dangles down with the excess chain over her fingers. In the front close-up of her arm, only the bottom chain is dangling. In the back close-up of her hand, with Barbossa in the background, the medallion and chain dangle shorter now, with the excess chain over her fingers. This takes place before she says, "There's no point in me keeping it." (00:38:50)
Revealing mistake: Before Interceptor's explosion, in the close-up it's very apparent that it's not the real Interceptor. Some examples are, no rigging at the stern-most mast, at the railing there are no belaying pins with or without all the lines hanging from them, there are no cleats with or without lines and at least two of the swiveling mounts at the stern for the swivel cannons aren't there. Continuity mistake: At the edge of the cliff, in the first overhead shot, when the four men lift the coffin its "head" side is nearest the water. However, in the next shot the "foot" side is nearest, before they throw it in the water. (00:05:30)
Continuity mistake: When the medallion drops into the chest, and when Barbossa removes it, there is blood on both sides of the medallion. When Barbossa hits Elizabeth and she falls, the medallion falls near her. In this shot we do not see any blood on the medallion. Yet when Will rescues Elizabeth, she reaches for the medallion and it now has a very obvious blood stain on it. (01:12:20 - 01:13:35)

Continuity mistake: When they are lowering Maguire, Jerry is holding onto Maguire's jacket behind his shoulder. When it cuts Jerry's hand is in front of Maguire's shoulder. (00:14:15)
Continuity mistake: Aboard Interceptor, Will and Elizabeth are below deck, and seen on the table are candles on a plate. The three candles and the melted wax on the plate to the right of Will's elbow, differ in the opening shot, when Will says, "Here let me," and when he has the medallion and slams it down onto the table. The candles do not melt so quickly, while they have this very short conversation. (01:17:35)
Revealing mistake: In the close-up of Barbossa cutting Elizabeth's hand, we see as the blade goes across Elizabeth's palm, leaving an obvious thin red line where the blade sliced, but not leaving blood on the blade as it slices. The creases in her palm are also unaffected by the 'cut' that's being made. Yet when Barbossa holds the blade up to his face, the blade now has a good amount of blood on both sides. (01:12:00)
Continuity mistake: In the morning, when Will is with Jack at the prison, Will has scratches on his right cheekbone and jawbone and the left side of his forehead. However, after they commandeer the Interceptor, all of Will's scratches are barely even noticeable, but it is STILL the same day. (00:42:30 - 00:52:15)

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film, right after Jack hands Gibbs the dead man's leg, Mr. Cotton throws Jack's coat about his shoulders, over his hair and bandanna, but when Jack turns around, in the next shot, his hair and bandanna are on the outside of the coat. No one touched them, and Jack seems oblivious to his various accoutrements, so he wouldn't have done this either. (00:06:50)

Visible crew/equipment: When we see first Kate open a door, it opens, and she leaves her hand up, then slowly lowers it. Look to the left of the cube-shaped doorway, and you can see in the room behind her, the edge of a stand or table or some equipment, which obviously shouldn't be seen there. (00:07:25)
Continuity mistake: When the Interceptor drops its anchor on the right side to surprise the Black Pearl, Barbossa turns to the crew and yells, "Hard to port. Rack the starboard oars." When he says this line, his teeth are either normal, or not nearly as gross as they are in the rest of the movie. [Fixed on Blu-Ray]. (01:24:40)
Revealing mistake: In the close-up of Jack as he swims to get his gun, etc, his left sleeve is pushed up and it's very obvious that he's wearing something with short sleeves under his white shirt. This isn't part of his white shirt. He has nothing on under his white shirt at any other time. (The underwater close-up of Depp was filmed in a tank at Long Beach along with the close-ups rescuing Elizabeth earlier.) (01:34:50)

Continuity mistake: When Jack shoots a hole in the casket killing the bird, the amount of feathers on the casket differ between the shots. (00:06:00)
Continuity mistake: Near the end of the first scene of the Isla de Muerta duel, we cut from Will's fight to Jack and Barbossa (just before "You're off the edge of the map"), and we have a good view of the cave. Where did Will and the other pirates go? (01:52:40)
Continuity mistake: As Will first walks through the crowd at Jack's hanging, there is a wide shot. Then there is a semi close-up of Will and the surrounding people. Next there is a shot taken from behind Will, still showing some people around him. In all three shots as Will stands still, some of the people's positions differ and some of the people are different, in all three shots. (02:04:40)
Visible crew/equipment: Aboard the Interceptor, as Jack asks, "Can you sail under the command of a pirate...?" at the upper right corner of the screen, the corner of the crew's white reflector screen is perfectly visible in front of the boom. (00:50:15)
Continuity mistake: At Jack's hanging, after Will sees Mr Cotton's parrot he walks over to Norrington, Elizabeth and her father. In the wide shot, when he says, "Governor Swann," the woman in the grey hat, white shawl, and floral pattern dress, who stands behind him to his right, in the next close-ups, is not in this wide shot. Continuity mistake: When Barbossa looks through his telescope at Interceptor, before Jack says, "I'm having a thought..." she's a good distance away from the Pearl and all her sails are out. Then in most of the wide and close-up shots of Interceptor, some of the sails differ at the bow and stern. Sails raised in one shot, are lowered in another, then some raised again and also some are raised but blowing wildly, then in the successive shot, it's down and still. Their proximity varies throughout and there are way too many changes between shots. (01:20:45)
Revealing mistake: Keira's stunt double Sonia is obvious in different shots throughout the film. When Elizabeth walks onto the deck of the Pearl, only to see the skeletal pirates, she stumbles backward and lands on the tarp, and it's very apparent that the one who comes back down from mid-air onto the tarp and goes back up is Sonia. Later on Isla de Muerta, Elizabeth whacks Jacoby (burning beard) with the gold rod and soon after she approaches a second pirate. This pirate is very pleased with himself when he takes the gold bowl off his head, and we can then see it is Sonia actually whacking him, but in the very next shot it is Keira reacting to whacking the guy.
