Continuity mistake: Not more than one to two hours after Wardaddy shaves his face clean in the German ladies' apartment, a closeup shot of him in the tank shows beard growth of 2-3 days.
Continuity mistake: When Parker is engulfed in flames, he pulls out his handgun and shoots through the helmet in his right temple. In the next shot, there is neither a bullet hole nor blood stain on his helmet. (00:24:25)
Continuity mistake: In the scene just before the Tiger tank fires on the American tanks, there is a shot taken of the four tanks rolling along at a distance where it is quite clear that the two tanks in front have long barrels on their main gun eg: M4 Shermans with 76mm high velocity guns. Then in the next shot that second long barrel tank is gone and now there are 3 short barrel tanks and only Fury with the 76mm gun.
Continuity mistake: Before the last stand Wardaddy takes a bottle and drinks two gulps before passing it to Bible. In his hands the bottle is full again.
Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the film when Wardaddy jumps the German officer riding the horse, he is holding him down with his left hand while stabbing him in the gut with his right hand. When the shot changes at the final thrust, he is holding the knife with both hands as he twists the knife to pull it out of his left eye socket. (00:03:15)
Continuity mistake: Wardaddy uses a Sturmgewehr 44 throughout the movie. In the first shot where he shoots the teenage German soldier, the Sturmgewehr 44 is missing the front sight hood. The hood appears throughout the movie afterwards. (00:24:05)

Continuity mistake: When Wardaddy shouts at Norman about "that is a German, that's who we kill", his arm is either bent or straight depending on the shot. (00:17:50)
Continuity mistake: When the SS officer is killed for hanging children, his papers land by his head. When the shot changes, his papers are now by his feet. (00:48:30)
Answer: Gordo was making a point to Norman that the crew of the "Fury" had seen some horrible things during the Battle of the Falaise Pocket. After wiping out an entire German army there, they were tasked with putting wounded horses out of their misery. The point was that Norman was not there, and did not experience what they had, so Norman could not judge the tank crew's actions.

Gordo brought up the horse thing because him and the other (original) crew members were not happy with Don and Norman enjoying a nice, quiet meal without them. He even say's "You weren't there" meaning Don sharing this with Norman when he hadn't yet been through much war time like all of them had, together. They also say "We weren't invited", "Why weren't we invited." The horse story was to get at Don for not inviting them and sharing it only with Norman.
