Question: What is the DAR that Emily always talks about?
Answer: Daughters of the American Revolution is an organization for women. Part of the membership requirements is that you have to prove that one of your ancestors was a "Patriot of the American Revolution", i.e. in America back in the 1770's and working on the American side. Stereotypically (not true but assumed), the membership are upper-class snobs like Emily.
Question: Why does Satine decide not to run away with Christian, just because she finds out that she's dying? Why couldn't they have run away anyway, and escaped from the Duke entirely?
Answer: If Satine runs, the Duke takes control of the Moulin Rouge and shuts the place down, putting everyone she works with onto the streets. If she stays with the Duke, she'll still die, but the Duke won't have any real reason to shut things down. She could run away with Christian and have a few days of freedom and love with him, but she'd be condemning everyone at the Moulin Rouge to destitution, plus the Duke would probably have Christian hunted down and killed. By staying for her final few days, she saves everyone that she loves, at the price of her own happiness (and that of Christian, but at least she'll save his life).
Question: Can someone explain the end. Does she go insane and go back to the mountain, or did she never escape?
Answer: She does escape, as seen in the Descent Part 2.
Answer: This depends on which version you have watched, as the UK and US versions have different endings. In the US version, after Sarah abandons Juno, she continues running through the cave, slips and is knocked unconscious, then sees daylight and escapes the cave. If it is the US version you are referring too, then the movie ends with her escaping the cave, and the sequel The Descent: Part 2 continues the story with her going back to the cave. If it is the UK version you are referring to, she is shown awakening back in the cave after escaping, revealing that the scene where she escaped was all a dream and she is still trapped in the cave. In this version, Sarah has lost her mind, brought on by the fact that her friends have all died and all hope of escaping has been lost. She succumbs to her insanity and chooses only to see something that will bring her happiness, which in this case is her daughter with a birthday cake. (Anything that happens in The Descent: Part 2 is irrelevant to the UK version as it follows on from the US ending).
Question: Why is it that when Palpatine-Sidious gets zapped by his lightning his face wrinkles, but when Luke gets zapped in Return of the Jedi, he remains relatively unscathed?
Answer: Palpatine was using relatively weak (but still painful) bursts of lightning on Luke as a means of torture, wanting Luke to suffer before he died. When he attacked Windu, he used powerful bursts of lightning, trying to kill him and thus ravaged his own body by the reflected attack. Or as some sources indicate, the "damage" was Palpatine's true form, which he had been hiding with the force, and reverted to this form to sell the act that he was "too weak" as he expressed.
Question: Near the beginning of the movie during the lightning storm Ray says "where's the thunder?", Isn't thunder just the sound lightning makes and if you were close enough to the lightning wouldn't the sound occur at the same time as the flash?
Answer: Precisely - Ray is seeing the lightning but there is no sound of thunder at all - there is also no sound of the thunder as the lightning is getting closer too, it's just the lightning itself and that 'whooshing' sound, but the sound doesn't sound like thunder.
Question: Can someone tell me the significance of Thing's girlfriend? Is she some kind of superhero?
Question: Why has Sgt. Yates replaced Officer Barbrady whenever an episode has a crime subplot?
Answer: Officer Barbrady would be too stupid and incompetent to actually solve any real crime cases. Additionally, his role is only really that of a first line of defence. Detectives such as Sgt Yates solve the real crimes of South Park.
Question: Why did Ocean's gang need to go to the museum if they already had the egg?
Answer: Toulour would get suspicious if the gang didn't make any attempt at stealing the egg so in order to keep him distracted, they tried to steal the fake egg.
Question: I'm not of the Catholic religion so I have a question. During Frollo's fireplace song he sees those faceless people wearing the red cloaks and then on the wall there are shadows holding crosses and stuff like that. Are these any specific objects of the catholic religion or just your average devils and angels?
Answer: They are representations of good and evil.
Question: We've only seen Sith like Dooku and Palpatine generate force lightning. We've also seen Jedi like Yoda, Mace Windu, and Obi-Wan repel it, but not generate force lightning, so is force lightning a weapon used only by the Sith?
Answer: Yes force lightning is a dark side power. Dark side powers are aggressive in nature (like the choke hold or force lightning) while light side powers are defensive.
Question: I was wondering about the final scene between Ghul and Batman. Batman says he doesn't have to save him and lets him fall in the train and the microwave generator explode. Despite this film being closer to the comics than the previous films, isn't this still against the "code" Batman adheres to in the comics? This was one of the reasons Bruce Wayne has to stop Jean-Paul Valley's new Batman in the Knightfall/Knightsend series. (Valley had let someone die).
Answer: In the Knightfall series, Valley chose to go after a bad guy instead of go to the assistance of an innocent. In Batman's view of things, that is a lot different (and a lot worse) than simply chosing not to rescue a bad guy from a train about to crash.
Question: After Zep is killed and before Lawrence leaves the room to get help, why doesn't he take Zep's gun to shoot Adam's chains? They probably didn't know how many bullets were left on the gun, so it's possible that there would have been at least one bullet left?
Answer: Shooting at anything solid like chains or a wall with a gun is never a very good idea. First, it is very unlikely to work, and secondly, the bullet is bound to ricochet seriously injuring one or both of them while leaving the chains untouched.
Question: When Greg, Pam and their parents are in the garden drinking, one of them gets onto the fact that Greg is an only child. Jack says to Greg 'You said you had a sister. You milked your sister's cat'. Then Greg looks at him strangely and looks away. I never get that. Why did he lie about having a sister?
Answer: In Meet the Parents, the film to which this is the sequel, Greg says something about how you can milk anything, even cats "I once milked my sister's cat". Obviously, Greg was clutching at straws and concocted this story about his fictious sister's cat to try get out of it. Of course, Jack being a former CIA man picked up on this.
Answer: Greg is also a nurse so the head nurse tends to be called a sister.
Question: In the trivia section, it mentions that Will Ferrel had a few minor accidents in a tunnel, what accidents did he have?
Answer: Seeing a tall man dressed up in a giant elf costume caused some minor car accidents.
Question: What is up with the corpse in the woman's basement, and how did it get there?
Answer: The corpse under the house is the ex-cop named Meeks. He was working with Dick Stensland to deal drugs - things turned sour and Stensland killed him, hiding the body under the house belonging to his girlfriend's mother.
Answer: Why didn't Bud White tell the cops about the corpse?
Because like Edmund Exley, White realised that this was likely due to Dudley Smith's corruption and he wasn't going to tip him or his corrupt cops off.
Question: At the end of this episode, when they are performing the "soap opera" for Calculon's benefit, Leela is dressed in a black dress and blonde wig with sunglasses. This ensemble looks really familiar to me, for some reason, and I wondered if it was perhaps a parody or homage to a well known soap character/actor/plot. Can anyone clue me in? And, on that note, is Fry's character of 'Congo Jack' a parody of something or just a stereotypical soap character?
Answer: Ally McBeal.
Question: Two questions: What is The Socratic Method of teaching and why is it the best teaching method?
Answer: House references Syd Barret, not Dave Gilmour, because Syd is a schitzophrenic, just like Socrates and Issac Newton were. House was talking about how some of the great people in history were schitzophrenics. The Socratic Method, defined, is "where questions (and only questions) are used to arouse curiosity and at the same time serve as a logical, incremental, step-wise guide that enables students to figure out about a complex topic or issue with their own thinking and insights."

Answer: It is Techical Sergeant Tim Wilkinson. Schmidt calls out to him "Wilkie grab his legs" and later in the SSgt Eversmann also calls him "Wilkie". He is an airforce pararescueman or PJ and he ropes down with the CSAR bird to the first crash site.
