Question: In a movie with talking ogres, pigs, mice, wolves, and all sorts of animals, why is everyone so surprised to find a talking donkey?

Carl Missouri

Chosen answer: Who is "everyone"? The only person surprised he can talk is the one human who is processing the fairytale creatures for banishment, and this was used as a plot device to highlight a joke (between him flying and talking).

MovieFan612

Fiona also says "it talks", after he "saves his ass."

To be fair, she was locked in a castle for the majority of her life, so she wouldn't know that donkeys would be able to talk.

And yet he wasn't the only one surprised by it; watch the scene again and Fiona was surprised, too.

Question: When Helen and Madelin have finished fighting and they asked Earnest to fix them, how did he fix the great big hole in Helen's stomach?

curiouskid

Chosen answer: He most likely filled it with something soft, then covered it. You'll notice the lingerie she is wearing completely covers her midsection.

Question: When Helen and Madelin are fighting with the shovels, Helen whacks off the end of Madelin's shovel, and then Madelin throws the stick through Helen. How did they achieve this effect?

curiouskid

Chosen answer: CGI, just like any other difficult effect.

Grumpy Scot

Question: I'm not sure if this is an actual mistake or a question: when Andy is escaping, we see him climb down something before he leaves the prison, (scaffolding, I think) and he is wearing boots or shoes of some kind. How could he do that since he left his shoes in the shoebox for the warden to find? The warden's shoes were safely tucked away in the plastic bag Andy had attached to his foot by the rope. It wasn't like he could carry a spare pair when he went to the warden's office to close up for the night.

Answer: Either prisoners are given more than one pair or Andy obtained another. He does have a lot of pull at the prison. Getting another pair of shoes would be trivial for him.

Grumpy Scot

Chosen answer: It would hardly have mattered to Rachel who actually suggested writing the list. What did matter was that Ross participated in it and that he gave very unflattering reasons (such as she's spoiled and is just a waitress) about why he should not be with her. As for the others blaming Ross, they apparently feared Rachel's anger and/or felt guilty for being involved.

raywest

For one, some of the reasons, like the chubby ankle thing, was Joey's idea, so that could have been mentioned. And yeah, Ross participated, but his reasons were reworded by Chandler in a way that made them seem insulting. She was spoiled by her father when she was younger, which made her want to move to the city. By not adding the part about Ross and Julie being paleontologists, it looks like he is just plain insulting her lifestyle instead of giving genuine reasons.

Question: The ending seems to be shown as a happy one. They find land and head towards it. However, the earth was being cooked from the inside, so what happened? Did the earth just stop being destroyed?

T.Rex.Sheffield.Can+Ash

Chosen answer: The intense solar activity ceased, thereby allowing the core temperature to return to normal and leave us with the new look continents.

jonathan

Question: Why doesn't anybody notice how hard and cold the skin of Carlisle is? He is a doctor after all, who touches his patients.

tmrr30

Chosen answer: He's a surgeon. His patients are usually unconscious when he's actually touching them. Not always, of course, but it's just his hands he's touching them with and he'd be sure to be very gentle so they wouldn't notice how hard they are. A doctor with cold hands is kind of a running joke, really.

Phixius

In addition to the other reply he is a surgeon, so he is most likely wearing gloves.

Question: When all of the people are trying to get on the boat, how does a tripod just randomly come out of the water like that?

jaimem6

Chosen answer: While it's never explained, there are several possibilities: as all the tripods were buried deep underground, this one may have been lodged below the lake and was just emerging. Also, a tripod could have "walked" from somewhere else, then went underwater to explore, and, attracted by the ferry's noise and movement, surfaced to investigate. It's also conceivable that, observing how ferries worked, it slipped underwater from further away and ambushed the boat, or the tripod was simply making a crossing from one shore to the other (traveling underwater if it was deep enough) and just happened upon the ferry when it did.

Question: Does Darth Maul have any unique, personal reasons for hating the Jedi, or does he only hate them because Sidious has raised him to?

Answer: Maul was raised by Sidious since he was a young child. He only knew the Dark Side of the Force and its properties - anger, hatred, fear. He would be the equivalent of someone raised by a devoted Nazi: not knowing anything else, he would hate Jews.

LorgSkyegon

Question: Why do they have rifles and equipment wrapped up in plastic before they actually fight?

Answer: The bags were meant to keep sand out of the actions and magazines as long as possible before they needed to be used in combat.

Midnight - S4-E10

Question: Is there any information on the entity shown in "Midnight?" It seems interesting enough to have some depth to it. It seemed to be bad in nature. It also seems to have been exactly what the woman that was possessed was afraid of.

Knever

Chosen answer: No, no information is avalible for the identity of the entity.

Repo_Man

Question: When Rotti is outside of Marni's tomb, he says 'You forced my hand and made me do'. What's he referring to?

erikvduyn

Chosen answer: Marni "forcing" him to kill her when she rejected him for Nathan.

Phixius

Question: What exactly is Jackson's job? Is he a driver of the rich Russian?

Answer: Yes.

Sereenie

Question: What does the "hurt locker" mean?

Answer: It's a term similar to "a world of hurt". It's both outside of you and within you. The outside definition is that a hurt locker is anywhere you go to find pain. In the film's case, war-torn Iraq is the hurt locker. Inside, your hurt locker is the place you bury your anguish.

johnrosa

Question: Was miss Ganush alive when she first attacked Christine, or was that the first manifestation and torment of the Lamia? The attack and it's effects seem highly consistent with what happens to Christine later on, and the frail old lady is just too powerful and durable for someone who dies a day or two later.

Answer: Christine didn't get cursed until the end of that fight, so it could not have been the first attack from the Lamia.

Question: What was Deebo in jail for? I know at the beginning of the movie it shows a flashback with the police showing up after the fight, but why would they arrest him?

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: It's not stated, but most likely after everyone witnessed someone finally standing up to Deebo that people gained the courage to testify against him. Most likely breaking and entering charges (as he did at Stanley's house) and assault.

Carl Missouri

Answer: I believe that Deebo was arrested for assaulting Felicia. Debbie (her sister) would've been a witness. The previous answer is also plausible. Theft, assault, menacing.

Question: How come a high tech ship would be unable to start its engine merely with the reason that the gate is unable to close?

gblontok

Chosen answer: Its a safety device so the ship doesn't put to sea and ends up flooding the ship. The passenger ferry Herald of Free Enterprise capsized in the port of Zebrugge in 1987, precisely because the doors were not shut properly.

GalahadFairlight

Season 1 generally

Question: I know when the series first aired on TV I saw a opening sequence where the cast hums the theme song from The Odd Couple, but when I watched my DVDs I never saw it. Am I wrong, or was it edited out for some reason?

Answer: It's Season 1 Episode 12 - The One with the Dozen Lasagnas. If it's not on your DVD, there may have been copyright issues with the song. Broadcast rights and DVD rights are separate deals so music is sometimes switched from TV/theatrical releases and DVD releases.

Myridon

Question: Does anyone know of any technical problems that happened during the shooting of the film, and how they were overcome? If so how do you know about these problems?

Alexxx1

Chosen answer: I own a copy of a book, "Behind the Mask of Spider-Man" . It details nearly every aspect of the making of the movie. It'd probably be hard to find in stores now, but websites that sell books may still have it. I know Amazon does.

Phixius

Question: After Jack and Barbossa see the corpse of the Kraken, Sao Feng's ship arrives next to the Pearl and so does Beckett's. During the scenes that follow, everyone double-crosses everyone else. It moves so fast, I just don't understand what exactly happens. Could someone please explain it to me?

Answer: It's very complicated. Will led Jack and the crew to this island because he had a secret deal with Sao Feng (Jack Sparrow for the Black Pearl). However, Feng has betrayed Will by making another deal with Cutler Beckett, who then double-crosses Sao Feng. Feng then makes a deal with Barbossa to attack Beckett, but he wants Elizabeth as part of the deal, mistakenly believing she is the sea goddess, Calypso. Elizabeth goes with Feng to protect the crew, and Will is thrown into the brig. Jack, who wants Davy Jones' heart so he can become immortal, is taken to Beckett's ship, where he negotiates his own deal with Beckett to lead him to Shipwreck Island and the Brethren Court.
