Question: In the scene where Carolina and El are chained together, they swing across the road on a power line with metal handcuffs. Wouldn't they have been fried or shocked?

sunfox35

Chosen answer: They would need to be touching the ground so the electrical current could complete the circuit.

Question: The scene where Kate is sitting at the bar talking to the other female doctor and it gets quiet, Kate seems to realize something and then, "Oh my God" to herself. What is it that she realized?

PPLYKJO

Chosen answer: She remembers the guy at the party. He tried to get her attention. She dissed him in her misery. They talk about a book called Persuasion... She says it's her favorite, all about a couple who keep meeting in the wrong time and place and you never know til the end whether or not it will work out. They agree that it's a terrible premise... then they dance in the dark... and end up in this really sexy kiss that Morgan and Mona walk in on.

Anastasios Anastasatos

Question: In the openings scene, the prehuman drinks a tar-like fluid (like the one poisoning Halloway later on), while looking at a spaceship hovering above. He then dies, falls into the river and disintegrates. I do not understand this scene, is he the last of the surviving prehumans committing suicide and the ship above is the others leaving the planet?

Answer: The giant ship has landed on Earth to drop off the Engineer so that he can terraform the planet and make it sustainable for life. He might drinks the black stuff to break down his own structure and spread life on Earth through his own DNA.

Question: For Doc to be so worried about corrupting the timeline in this movie (especially when it comes to falling in love with Clara) he surely doesn't seem to think twice about destroying the locomotive that will no doubt have a huge effect on the timeline. I doubt there were many trains on that railroad, with that mode of transportation now gone, Hill Valley itself could be wiped out.

Carl Missouri

Answer: Doc must have reasoned that the loss of the locomotive would have a minor impact on Hill Valley, if at all. The railroad company would likely have replaced the destroyed locomotive. Obviously Doc was correct as there seems to have been no impact on Hill Valley's economy whatsoever and the train lines continue to run into the 1980's.

BaconIsMyBFF

Answer: Corrupting time was a worry for Doc, however, he also recognized that it was at least partially unavoidable. Otherwise, Doc would never even be able to go buy food, because how would he know that the meal he ordered wasn't one that someone else was meant to choke on? Occupational hazard of time travel.

Captain Defenestrator

Chosen answer: In the timeline that the original Marty and Doc came from, Hill Valley exists so that town obviously survived that incident. An accident already occurred on that day in their history. They just didn't know it was them that caused it.

XIII

That is not how time travel works in these movies. In fact, the entire series revolves around the timeline being changed whenever they travel into the past. There are no stable time loops. The train was not destroyed in the original time line.

It's tough to say whether or not the train wasn't destroyed in the original timeline. Maybe by some lucky chance the train would suffer an accident similar to that anyways maybe just a bit earlier. There's really no indication either way. It's also possible they build another train or had others in service. I doubt they didn't have some backup plan in case the train was out of commission for a long period of time or destroyed.

Question: Why does Dr. Gordan cut his leg while he didn't know that door was unlocked or not? This question is also for Eric in Saw -2.

Answer: Well, there's only one way to find out whether or not it's locked...

Phixius

Answer: Because he had to kill Adam to escape. Only way to reach the gun was to get rid of his chain.

He could've used his shirt to get the phone.

Answer: I'm assuming they were both in a panic, as normal people would be in that situation and it was Gordon's last attempt to try and save his family.

Answer: That is a good point. Dr Gordon wasn't even at the handle of the door, so he couldn't push it the same way Zep could or Jigsaw could at the very end.

Question: If Violet could sense that Caroline did something to the sugar, how come she couldn't sense the same with her glass of tea?

sunfox35

Chosen answer: The past few days Caroline started to act weird - going for what she claimed was 'shopping', locking Ben alone, going to the attic several times, asking so many questions about the past and about Papa J. & Mama C. 's story, inquiring information about the story, investigating various facts and events, trying to test Violet (when she asked her to step into the room to see the water leak) and insisting on doing that. That arose the servants' ghosts' skepticism and they started to suspect that Caroline knows and can somehow harm or obstruct their plans. Hence, when Caroline and Violet were having dinner, Caroline didn't eat and insisted Violet adds sugar to her tea several times, that was very easy for Violet to suspect and realize that something is wrong with the sugar and Caroline might have poisoned it - she didn't sense, she figured that out as a result of Caroline's weird behavior, so she grabs the sugar bowl and takes it away. At that moment Violet basically couldn't imagine Caroline having a medicine bottle with her, running up to her tea, pouring the medicine into her cup, in merely few seconds.

Question: What makes Neo the Chosen One? Chosen by who or what? And what makes Morpheus and the Oracle so knowledgeable about the Chosen One?

Answer: 1) Neo is the One because of a systematic flaw in the Matrix's programming that accounts for the rare humans who don't accept the Matrix, as explained by the Architect in the second film. 2) The Oracle knows about the One because she was the one who discovered the flaw. 3) Morpheus knows about the One because the Oracle told him.

Question: In the scene in the girl's locker room, after Heather Chandler's death, why does Veronica get into a shower with her clothes on?

Answer: I think it's one of those "This can't be happening, I must be dreaming" moments. Same as when a character pinches themselves in order to wake up, or they tell someone to pinch them. Veronica can hardly believe what she and JD did.

Answer: Most likely it's an act of contrition, symbolically attempting to "wash away" her sin.

Question: Why doesn't Teddy tell Leonard that he just killed a John G after he meets him after getting his tattoo, which is before in the color scenes. He also never says that they killed the real killer over a year ago. Why doesn't Teddy just remind him about that every time, to save his life and avoid Leonard getting mad. Also, when Leonard sees a picture of Natalie he doesn't recognize her but asks Teddy and says he doesn't know who she is but before in the car when he walks in. He obviously knows who she is and states not to trust her and she had already used him but forgot about it. Also she wants to kill Teddy because he killed John G and supposedly then had never met and she mentions him when she got hit by Leonard.

stunningkevin@gmail.com

Chosen answer: All of the characters lie to, con, and manipulate Leonard for their own reasons, so their being inconsistent with what they tell him is hardly surprising. In Teddy's case, this turned out badly for him, as he didn't know that Leonard had set him to be the new John G.

Question: What happened to Chris and Claire Redfield? They aren't even mentioned in the film.

sunfox35

Chosen answer: They might bring them up in the next movie. Jill Vallentine was also lost for so many movies.

Anastasios Anastasatos

Answer: Season 4, the episode is called "The One With Joey's Dirty Day".

Question: Why is Laddie wearing a Confederate soldier's jacket?

Answer: There's no particular reason. It's probably just something he found and liked.

raywest

Answer: That was in fashion in the USA, in the 80's.

Question: When everyone is at the Frosty Palace and Rizzo asks Danny if someone is snaking him. Danny says "Oh bite the weenie, Rizz." Then Rizzo says, "With relish. Now What does Rizzo mean by "With relish?"

Lueroi

Chosen answer: It's a double meaning. "With relish" means "with pleasure" but, since they're talking about a weenie, she is referencing the condiment as well.

Phixius

Question: In the scene after the credits, what did the other mean when he said "To challenge them is to court Death"?

thor stark

Chosen answer: The mastermind villain is revealed to be Thanos. Thanos is a Titan who literally worships and hopes to court Death (In the Marvel Universe, the embodiment of Death is usually depicted as a woman). He tries to kill and destroy as much as possible to impress Death. The phrase, "To challenge them is to court death" would be a warning or deterrent to most beings, but Thanos only smiles when hearing this because it's his lifelong goal to literally court death. From this, we can infer that he will not heed this warning and instead lead the attack against the Avengers personally next time.

Question: In the scene where Evan visits an institutionalized Lenny locked in restraints, Lenny accuses him of having known on the day of the junkyard (where Lenny stabbed Tommy with a shard) that "something big was going to happen" and that Evan "should be where I am". How did Lenny know that Evan foresaw the "future" as it were, and that he changed the course of events which lead to his imprisonment?

Answer: Because of Evan's strange behavior that day. Lenny has had too much time to dwell and think about it, so he's created excuses in his mind and convinced himself of their truth. He just happens to be right.

Phixius

Question: What was the purpose of replacing the real Belicoff with a double?

Answer: They replaced him with a loyal person so he can blame the attempt on his life on the United States and return to his former political party, which somehow benefits a secret government control group.

Question: What is the actual time frame from when Ripley is revived from the Nostromo's lifeboat to when she joins the mission to LV-426 to when the team actually arrives there? I know that the colonists were attacked after Burke sent the order for them to check out the alien spacecraft, but in alien, it was only a matter of hours before the facehugger dropped from Kane's face, and a few more after that when the newborn emerged. If this is accurate, then how could any of the infected colonists still be alive when the marines arrived and were checking the mass cocoon? In a previous question above, it was ascertained that the flight time was a minimum of 2 weeks, possibly more. Add to that the time it took to convince Ripley to agree to go and prep time for takeoff, I'd say it's anywhere from 2 1/2 to 3 weeks before they got there and any impregnated colonists should have dead.

Answer: You're assuming that all the colonists were captured by the aliens at the same time. There's no evidence to support that, particularly; logically the takeover would have happened over a period of time. Only one alien would have been brought back to the colony, from the facehugger that attacked Newt's father, so some considerable time must have passed while new eggs were acquired to infect other colonists and increase the number of alien warriors available. We don't know precisely when communications with the colony were cut off, but, from the lack of information available to the marines sent to investigate, it must have happened relatively early in the infestation, so it's entirely plausible that the colonists' final stand didn't take place until the marines were already well on their way. Newt's survival until the marines' arrival clearly opens up the possibility that other colonists were able to avoid capture for some time after the final stand. As such, it's not remotely unreasonable to suggest that the live colonist found in the cocoon chamber had been captured by the aliens no more than a day before the marines found her.

Tailkinker

Regarding the colonist dying from a chestburster in front of the Marines as opposed to sometime before, maybe the colonist went into a coma of some kind (psychological if nothing else) and the chestburster of course did likewise, and then the Marines caused her, and accordingly the alien larva, to awaken (seems an enormous coincidence of timing otherwise) at that particular moment. It's also possible the adult aliens, having gone dormant with nothing to do, have somehow caused the chestburster and/or host to do likewise, again, with the Marines' arrival, the larva awoke and the adults followed suit. It's even possible the chestburster had some form of birth defect that caused its "late start."

dizzyd

I think that the adult Aliens were just sleeping or resting because Newt told Ripley that the Aliens mostly come out at night.

With reference to the original question about taking 2 weeks to get to the planet from earth, in the first Alien film the flight time was 10 months. I know that a military ship would be faster than an old tug 57 years previously but to cut the journey down that much would be impossible.

Well, the colonists may have been infected at the same time but that woman was still alive when they found her, so this shows that not all the colonists were infected at the same time assuming she even is a colonist.

Answer: You're assuming that they received transmissions at sub-light speed. It could have have been weeks or months before they received an S.O.S. Ripley said Newt survived for weeks on her own.

Question: I don't quite understand, when all the other monsters find out Jonathon is actually a human, why does he suddenly decide he hates monsters? Wasn't he impressed with monsters even when he initially thought the ones at the hotel were people dressed in costumes?

Answer: He simply says that he hates monsters because he's respecting Dracula's wish and placing a barrier between himself and Mavis. He's trying to prevent her falling for him. He says this in the movie: "if I didn't say that your dad would have killed me."

Garlonuss

Chosen answer: Angels Take Manhattan takes place in Amy and Rory's personal timelines after they experience the events of The Doctor's visits. When the Angels take someone, they consume all of that person's potential temporal energy after that point, so they'd already had those experiences with The Doctor before being taken.

Captain Defenestrator

Question: Is it revealed, in the Cube trilogy, the destiny to which Kazan is reserved when he walks into the bright light?

Answer: No, but given the nature of the organization behind the Cubes, it can be assumed he was either tracked down and executed or detained in order to place him back into that Cube or into another version.

Phixius

Well due to his amazing luck and how most of the other people around treated him he may have been put back in The cube and this is not the first time he has escaped eventually they will get tired of him and leave he back on the streets alone covered in blood of his former friends.

Answer: In an alternate ending of the cube we discover that the cube was built on another planet so Kazan died.

Answer: If you watched Cube Zero, we see the same blinding white light when Owen makes it to the exit, but when he walks through it turns dark and he is chained up. He is then asked whether or not he believes in God. When he says "No," he is incinerated. Apparently, no one has ever said "Yes," so we don't know what happens if someone were to say "Yes." It is very likely that Kazan ended up in the same situation.
