Licence to Kill (1989)

Revealing mistake: After the fire starts, people go in with extinguishers, but can be seen in the background waving them around without anything coming out of them.

Licence to Kill (1989)

Stupidity: Felix and the DEA capture Sanchez, a very powerful drug lord, in a very public way, have the wedding...then everyone just goes home. No concept of extra security or concern about his minions getting revenge. So of course they can then just wander into his house with no problems whatsoever to capture him and murder his wife. Bond's clearly concerned when he learns Sanchez has escaped, but he must have realised there'd be plenty of goons still around before that point.

Goldeneye (1995)

Question: Was any reason ever given as to why Bond's gadget-filled car was barely used in this film? It seems odd to give the series a fresh start in many ways, make a big deal about his car with missiles inside the lights, and then he drives it for 30 seconds and gives it away. Why bother giving him a car at all?

Jon Sandys

Chosen answer: There hadn't been a Bond film for seven years, and it was a new Bond. They wanted to get away from the gadgets and show him at his best. It was a way to let people accept Pierce Bronsan, watching what he can do. He put a lot of Sean Connery into it.

I can see that, but it just seems weird to highlight the features the car has and then not use them. Would have been simpler to omit it entirely, but presumably BMW wanted some product placement.

Jon Sandys

According to Wikipedia, the deal with BMW came at the last stage in production, so they were only able to put the car in the movie but not make scenes where the gadgets are actually used. I can imagine they'd have to rewrite parts of the script and take more time filming to do that.

Goldeneye (1995)

Factual error: The missiles launched by the helicopter when Bond and Natalya are tied up in the cockpit are Mistrals, as revealed by the cockpit's screens - short range infra-red homing missiles. They home in on heat, they can't be programmed to turn 180 degrees in mid-air and target a specific location as they do here.

Jurassic Park (1993)

Trivia: The dinosaur Tianchisaurus nedegoapeferima was named after the principal cast of the film, with the second part of the name using a letter or two from each surname: NEill, DErn, GOldblum, Attenborough, PEck, FErrero, RIchards, MAzello.

Serenity (2005)

Trivia: The antagonist was potentially going to be Jubal Early, the bounty hunter who sneaked onto the ship in the Firefly episode "Objects in Space" and was eventually left floating in the void. Actor Richard Brooks wasn't available to reprise the role, so The Operative was created instead, who shares some similarities with Early.

Mal: I know it's a difficult mission, but you and I...have to get it on.
Zoe: I understand. We have no choice. Take me sir, take me hard.
Jayne: Now something about that is just downright unsettling.
[Mal and Zoe awkwardly lean in towards a kiss].
Wash: [dragging Zoe away] We'll be in our bunk.

Ariel - S1-E8

Continuity mistake: As Mal approaches the desk, saying "we got a couple of DOAs" he puts his left hand directly on the corner. Cut to a shot from behind and his hand's moved about a foot.

Ally McBeal (1997)

Show generally

Question: There's a quote from Richard Fish I've never been able to find exactly online, but I'm sure I'm remembering the gist, I think talking to someone about getting divorced or cheated on: "10 years from now, are you still going to be as mad as you are now? Of course not. So jump to that point, now, and you're over it. Fishism." Can anyone identify the episode/quote?

Robin Hood - S2-E3

Stupidity: Nora fled to the Ludds at the end of season one because someone was trying to kill her because she was getting close to what went on. Here they suggest she goes back to Horizen to work undercover, and she just...goes. Nobody seems worried that she'll be exposed and vulnerable.

Dinner Party - S2-E2

Stupidity: Nathan sees who he thinks is Nora at the Dinner Party - despite her boss using her avatar once before, so he knows not to assume it's her, especially given she's been missing for weeks. He's completely thrown by her unusual behaviour, and it doesn't even occur to him it might be someone else.

Upload (2020)

Show generally

Stupidity: Nora's dad believes in heaven and doesn't want to upload himself, because he wants to be reunited with his wife. When visiting Lakeview, he tells Nathan that Nathan's soul went to "real heaven," so he's just talking to a simulation. Which means there's no reason he can't upload himself. His soul will go to real heaven like he wants to, and he can leave a simulation behind for his daughter to be with. Everyone would be happy, but nobody makes that argument.

Other mistake: September 12, 1973 - as Pat Phoenix walks through a door, the camera smacks into the back of her head with an audible thump. Once she enters the room, she glances angrily back at the crew, and a boom mic drops into shot to boot.

The Nice Guys (2016)

Pride Parade - S5-E3

Factual error: Nandor manages to fly up to space, then loses control and falls back to earth in a fireball as he reenters the atmosphere. But objects reentering the atmosphere only get hot because they're generally travelling at immense speeds, 7-12 kilometers per second. Nandor just floated straight up, then falls straight back down. When Felix Baumgartner parachuted from the edge of space his maximum speed was about 1,300 km/h, and he didn't catch fire.

Jon Sandys

Stupidity: The "keep everyone in the stadium" plan is foiled when gold is scattered around the outside and everyone leaves. The bad guys didn't consider locking the doors? Not least because once the terrifying sky tendrils descend and boiling red clouds start filling the arena, surely people would have started bolting for the wide open exits.

Psych: The Movie (2017)

Trivia: Shawn says at one point "Jules would never do a Hallmark movie." Maggie Lawson starred in a Hallmark movie called "My Favourite Wedding" the same year this was released.
