Paycheck (2003)

Continuity mistake: After Ben Affleck finds the bug in the machine, he pulls the bit out and turns to Uma Thurman. In that shot of Uma we see that Ben's got a big smile on his face. It then cuts immediately back to just Ben, who has a straight face and immediately cracks a big grin. (01:28:20)

Continuity mistake: During the parade scene, one of the men says he's learning the piano, and Michael Palin screams at him. In a close shot of MP's face he's screaming into the man's right ear, but in a wider shot it's the left ear. (00:32:55)

Plot hole: Blofeld tells the bad guys that they had Bond and let him get away. The woman says, "But Bond is dead. It was in all the papers." As we saw in a paper near the start, there was a well-publicised photo of Bond, and when she met him he wasn't using any kind of disguise, so how did she not recognise him if she'd seen the papers?

Continuity mistake: When Henderson is stabbed through the wall, Bond runs over and grabs him. There's a noticeable hole, and they're standing right by the wall. Then the angle changes, the hole's now smaller, and Bond's right next to the bed, which he can put Henderson on without taking a step. (00:21:40)

Octopussy (1983)

Trivia: The "blink and you'll miss it" part of Smithers (Q's assistant, who triggers the powerful door-slam) is played by Jeremy Bulloch. Only worth noting because we see his face for once, as he's most famous for a part where he wears a mask - Boba Fett in the Star Wars sequels.

Jon Sandys

Revealing mistake: The shot of the two nuclear missiles being launched is used twice, just reversed. They seem to have changed the saturation slightly in one of them to make it look different, but there are identical clouds at the top left/top right in both shots, ruining the trick.

Audio problem: After Bond sets the timer on the bomb at the end, the ticks don't add up. There's a definite tick each second, and you can count 12 of them after he starts it, then we cut back to the bomb and only 7 seconds have passed. (As a vague trivia aside, coincidence though it is, on the UK DVD he pulls the pin out at the DVD second timer ticks onto "07").

Exit Wounds (2001)

Revealing mistake: As they make their escape from the club, DMX and Anthony Anderson jump on a box to climb over a dumpster. DMX steps on it with no problems, AA crushes it and can't climb over. A closer look shows that DMX stepped on the right (a reinforced bit) and AA steps on the left. However, the box only collapses on the left, rather than evenly, giving away where the support is. The One With The Lesbian Wedding - S2-E11

Question: Slightly more wide-ranging a question than just Friends, but it's relevant at the moment. With Massachusetts being in the news for offering same-sex weddings, and apparently being the first state to fully sanction it, was the wedding in this episode (back in the mid '90s) based on any then-current law, or just made up for the purposes of the plot?

Jon Sandys

Chosen answer: Same-sex weddings have been performed for quite some time in the United States. They simply didn't have the sanction of law or the benefits (and costs) that come with it. The ceremonies were purely for the sake of the supporting friends and family of the couple making the commitment.

Moonraker (1979)

Continuity mistake: When the girl in the alleyway sees Jaws, she takes a closed flick knife out of her bag. When the angle changes to behind her, the blade's now extended.

Seven (1995)

Continuity mistake: When the "lust" guy is being interviewed, Morgan Freeman throws a photo down on the table. He throws it such that from the interviewee's point of view it should be angled with the top side to the left, or fairly straight, but when we see a close-up of it landing it's angled with the top to the right.

Troy (2004)

Trivia: Keep an ear out - the 1st Wilhelm is heard when the second (not the first!) Myrmidon screams as he falls overboard into water, after being hit by Trojan arrows. The 2nd Wilhelm is heard moments later, when Achilles and his Myrmidons are in their shield formation, one Myrmidon stands behind the formation and fires an arrow into a Trojan, who screams as he falls.

Bad Boys II (2003)

Bad Boys II mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Joe Pantoliano is circling "tactical narcotics team" after the car chase, check out the circle. When he draws it, both ends meet nicely. Next time we see it there's a curve at the end of one line, and the next time they meet again. (00:38:30)

Continuity mistake: When they're looking at the computer model of Renard's head (just after the doctor says "medulla oblongata"), count the pings. The first two times we hear one, a slight pause, then 3 close together, with corresponding green pointers on the image, then a higher pitched one on the green box. However, the third time (after "than any normal man") there's no initial ping with pause, just the 3 close together. Then just as we're expecting the higher one we cut to a shot of M, and we hear another middle beep before the final one. The sequence starts again, we cut back to the model in the middle of it, and we get an extra beep again, plus see that the beeps are now completely out of sync with bits of the model being illuminated. Ace Ventura: Pet Detective mistake picture

Revealing mistake: When the bad guys are shooting at Ace, he catches a bullet in his teeth. However, he goes from his lips being tightly shut to suddenly having the bullet in his teeth, obviously hiding the bullet in his mouth. (00:52:00)

Die Another Day (2002)

Trivia: The sunglasses Bond takes off the guy at the start are in fact Pierce Brosnan's own sunglasses - at the time of filming he'd had them for 3 years and fancied wearing them during the scene.

Jon Sandys

Trivia: After filming, Johnny Depp had a permanent tattoo of a sparrow done on his arm "for my boy". It's the same as the one seen in this film, except the sparrow was flying away from him, so he turned it around so it was coming back.

Trivia: Even though we can't really see her face, when Budd drags the Bride out of the truck, dumps her on the ground, then hauls her along the ground, that's actually Uma Thurman.

Jon Sandys

Trivia: The car Darryl Hannah drives is the same type as Burt Reynolds' Trans-Am from the Smokey and the Bandit films. In fact, she's fairly sure it's the actual one. At one point while shooting she was driving along with QT in the passenger seat when he excitedly yelled "pull off here.", pointing down a dirt track. She fishtailed the car down the road, going at a fair old speed, when she suddenly noticed she was heading straight for a hole. Quentin yelled "jump it. It's just a movie, nothing can happen." Choosing common sense she squealed to a halt just before the hole. QT's comment? "Burt Reynolds would have jumped it".
