Trivia: Sean Connery never appeared in another live action film following this one. The stress he experienced making it is what led him to retire from acting until his death in 2020, with the only exception being a voice role for an animated film in 2012 called Sir Billi. He strongly considered coming out of retirement for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but ultimately declined, as he found retirement to be a lot of fun.

Trivia: When Steve is dragging the unconscious alien through the Bonneville Salt Flats, at one point he shouts out "What the hell is that smell!?" Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Trivia: This film marks the debut appearance in the MCU of the classic Marvel villain The Mandarin. He was referenced all the way back in the first Iron Man film and was promoted as the main antagonist of Iron Man 3, with the iteration of the character ending up being a bait and switch. Part of the reason the character took so long to make it to the screen is because of the problematic stereotypes associated with him, combined with Disney's business partnership with China.

Trivia: In the years following its release, the skull logo used in this film had been co-opted by Blue Lives Matter advocates and American far-right conservatives, including some of the Capitol insurrectionists of January 6th. Punisher co-creator Gerry Conway and Jon Bernthal - who would later portray the Punisher in the Netflix series - have criticized these groups for misunderstanding and appropriating the character. Punisher #13, which was released in July 2019, even had a scene that depicted the Punisher beating up and admonishing cops who idolized him.

Trivia: This is the first Marvel show that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige considers to be canonically set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although other shows such as Agents of S.H.I.E.L. D, Inhumans, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, Runaways, and Helstrom were said to be set in the MCU, Feige had no direct involvement or say-so on their direction, and therefore doesn't consider them to be canon.
