Corrected entry: Russell doesn't know that Elaine knows Jerry and George. This is apparent when Russell tells her about a pilot with a "new young talent, Jerry Seinfeld." So why doesn't he figure it out when there is a character named Elaine Benes in Jerry's show?

Crimson Tide (1995)
Corrected entry: In one scene, Captain Ramsey threatens to shoot Weaps if he doesn't open the safe that contains the tactical firing trigger. Then he says it does him no good to kill Weaps, as he's the only one who knows the combination to the safe. It is unlikely that only one person knows the combination: what if that person had died in the galley fire or drowned in the bilge bay? The crew is left with a safe that can't be opened.
Correction: Saying something is unlikely does not constitute a mistake, besides your mistake is more opinion than fact. Whether or not someone in the crew should know the combination or not doesn't seem too important. At the time Ramsey was intent on firing the missile and this might have been the quickest and only route that was available to him. Besides, it was the firing trigger, not the oxygen supplies. I think if something happened to him they would at least be able to go on.

Home Improvement (1991)
Corrected entry: On the show, "soda" is usually offered when asking if someone wants a drink. In Michigan we always refer to any carbonated drink as "pop". Maybe transplants might say soda, but if Tim and family have been there their whole lives, they would drink "pop".
Correction: Adding on to what Lummie wrote, people are also influenced by family members, teachers, etc. I live in the Southeast USA, and my family has always said soda, even though a few surveys claim that it's common for people around here to say "Coke" (as a term for multiple brands).

Apollo 13 (1995)
Corrected entry: At the meeting where Jim Lovell is informed that Ken Mattingly has been exposed to measles, and must be replaced by Command Module backup pilot Jack Swigert, Lovell complains about the last minute switch and says, "When's the last time he was in a simulator?" But Lovell eventually agrees, Swigert is put into service for Apollo 13, and he proceeds to intensify his training schedule. In one later scene he's shown in a simulator, being rather rusty and out of practice. But in an earlier scene, before the measles scene, the whole Apollo 13 backup crew, including Jack, were shown arriving at the simulator for practice. In reality, as a member of the backup crew, Swigert was in constant training and would not have even been considered were he unable to pilot the spacecraft.
Correction: I do not see where the mistake is in all this. Of course he would have not been considered if he wasn't up for it but the evidence you've provided is more opinion rather than fact. Lovell was extremely upset by Mattingly being replaced and what he said was more in the heat of the moment rather than being a true and accurate statement. Secondly the practice run Swigert went through wasn't evidence he was rusty, it was evident he didn't know how to handle that particular scenario. The technical staff afterwards discuss that even Mattingly didn't get that scenario the first time. Even so it was one mistake and we are only shown a few minutes of them training and not the hours upon hours they would have been training.

The Simpsons (1989)
The Simpson's 138th Show Spectacular - S7-E10
Corrected entry: During the "Who Shot Mr. Burns" alternate ending with Smithers shooting Mr.Burns, Smithers is smartly dressed and wearing his jacket. At the end of part 1 and start of part 2, Smithers was badly dressed. Carl also points out at the end of part 1, that Smithers left his jacket on his chair after The Town hall meeting.
Correction: As pointed out in the episode, the sequence was only filmed to keep the secret of who was the shooter from being leaked by the staff of the show. As pointed out, the DNA evidence in the episode would have to be ignored which proves the creators were never concerned about continuity as the sequence would have been unusable. In addition as pointed out on the site, deleted scenes or alternate sequences cannot be considered mistakes to the final cut.

Billy Madison (1995)
Corrected entry: In the beginning of the movie Billy says he'll go to school for 2 weeks per school-year which gives him 24 weeks to go all the way to graduation. His dad says if he finishes by June 15th he wins. Billy was just in the pool no more than a day ago and it was obviously pretty warm outside, how is this possible if it's 24 weeks from June 15th? That would make it December the previous year.

Corrected entry: Near the end of the movie they are all entering the gas-powered jeeps to head to the helicopter. When the door opens there is mud splattered all over the logo of Jurassic Park. It says urass park. "Your ass park"?
Corrected entry: On the back of the DVD case there's three pictures from the film, and one of them is of Woody Allen dressed up as a giant spider. But that scene is not even in the movie.

Exit Wounds (2001)
Corrected entry: This film features three actors who have also appeared in Arnold Schwarzenegger films. Bill Duke starred in 'Commando' (1985) and 'Predator' (1987), Tom Arnold starred in 'True Lies' (1994), and Christopher Lawford starred in 'The 6th Day' (2000) and 'Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines' (2003).
Correction: There really isn't any connection to make this trivia too interesting and is far too common. Many actors who work together will likely have some connection to a particular actor or director. Other than the fact they have all worked with one actor is nothing more than an observation.

Fever Pitch (2005)
Corrected entry: Ben and Lindsay are walking down the street. Ben had a drink in his hand. In the next shot it was gone and no evidence he had been drinking anything.
Correction: While it would help when this mistake happens, the scene I believe you are referring can be explained because there is a change in time. While the conversation they are having is the same despite the shot changing, it is a different time and place. You can tell because it goes from day to night between shots and they are both wearing entirely different clothes.

SpongeBob SquarePants (1999)
Corrected entry: In Sandy's place, SpongeBob blows a bubble which captures the butterfly. SpongeBob is wearing a helmet, so how can he blow bubbles?
Correction: The show has established on more than a few occasions that it is far from factually accurate. Just a few examples, they walk around as if there was gravity, they can light fires underwater etc. To blow bubbles through a glass helmet is just another example of not being factually accurate but not a mistake in the context of the show.

The Rock (1996)
Corrected entry: When General Hummel calls the FBI director. The director only asks: "Who is this?" and "I wanna know who this is." He says nothing else, but when he hangs up the phone, his secretary says that she'd cancel his reservations. Most surely she wasn't eavesdropping on another line nor could she have overheard the conversation from where she was standing as the phone call wasn't on loudspeaker, otherwise the director wouldn't have had the receiver to his ear. (00:19:20)
Correction: Overall this comes down to being a character mistake and not a film one. The secretary might have been told before the director picked up who he was and/or what he was doing. Even if this had not been the case, she might have presumed from what she overheard that she should cancel his plans as it sounded serious. As you mentioned she might have eavesdropped but there is not enough conclusive evidence to say she should not have been able to make the assumption that she did.

South Park (1997)
Corrected entry: For maybe the first four seasons, Stand and Kyle's voices stayed the same, after season four though, they seemed to have gotten deeper. Couldn't have been because of puberty because if that was the case Cartman's voice would have changed also.
Correction: Obviously you are not aware of the fact that many guys can experience puberty and deeper voices at a later age than others. Aside from that fact, this mistake is more built on opinion rather than any fact. I have watched South Park for many years and there is no example to prove this observation.

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)
Corrected entry: Darth Maul should feel how strong Anakin is in the Force, yet he doesn't mention to his master that a Force-strong boy is traveling with the Jedi. If Sidious had told Maul about Anakin ahead of time, then Maul wouldn't try to hurt the boy with his speeder bike.
Correction: Saying what a character should or shouldn't do is generally a character mistake, if that. Maul was intent on getting the Jedi he was instructed to eliminate. From what we can see he only came close to hitting Anakin nothing else. While he may have been told to watch out for the boy or felt he was strong with the force this is just presumptious and there is no film mistake here.

Correction: I don't remember Russell ever saying he didn't know that Elaine knew Jerry and George. Furthermore what would be the problem if he did? Elaine dated Russell, but she never conned him and it wouldn't have likely changed anything about the situation. As for the character in the show, I don't think they actually referred to the characters by their full name. I believe Elaine's character was just referred to as Elaine.
