Shrek 2

Corrected entry: When Shrek wakes up after taking the "Happily Ever After" potion, one of the women tells him that she's got him a pail of water, then goes on to introduce herself as Jill. She probably went up the hill to get the water.

Kara

Correction: In a fairy tale world where Puss in Boots and the Gingerbread Man also exist, is this really worth pointing out?

Brad

Correction: She even says that she brought a pail of water.

Corrected entry: On the potion bottle Shrek, Donkey, and Puss steal from Fairy Godmother's potion factory, it says that the potion will affect the drinker and their true love. That means Shrek, Donkey, Fiona AND Dragon should be affected by the potion because Donkey drank the potion and Dragon is his true love, but she wasn't affected by it.

IAMAWESOME38

Correction: As Dragon remains off-screen during the time period when the potion is effective, it cannot be said that she was unaffected.

Tailkinker

Correction: The filmmakers said that she turned into a talking pegasus.

Corrected entry: The spoon Shrek uses to eat the 'soup' appears from nowhere between shots. It wasn't there previously when Shrek looks at the dinner set, and why would anyone bring it out if they don't need spoons until the actual soup is brought out? (00:15:25)

Hamster

Correction: There IS a spoon-like utentil attached to the bottom end of a fork, on the left side of his plate, in the initial setting. Obviously, it's not intended for the soup, but Shrek doesn't know this. The soup spoons are provided with the soup course.

MovieFan612

Corrected entry: In the 'chase scene' in the Fairy Godmother's factory, Shrek, Donkey and Puss spin quickly on a rotating device. In the shots where they are spinning, there is no sign of anyone in the background. Yet there is a gang of archers who had been shooting at them in the same room. (00:44:40)

Correction: There is no possible way to discern anything in the background other than blurry swirling images because the device is turning at such a fast pace. You can see colors of different objects, including the white of the workers' suits, as they whiz past.

MovieFan612

Corrected entry: When Shrek is reading Fiona's diary, he drops it on the table. Later, Fiona wakes up and finds it, and its position is different.

Correction: When Shrek places her diary on the table, the angle is such that we cannot see how he laid it down. So there's no way to know if it's different when Fiona picks it up later.

MovieFan612

Corrected entry: When Donkey drinks the magic potion that transforms him, presumably Dragon would transform too, since she is Donkey's partner. However during the period while Donkey is transformed, we know that Dragon transports the other creatures to Far Far Away to rescue Shrek and Donkey from the knights. The Dragon could not have done this if she was transformed, unless she was transformed into something else that could fly fast. So this means that the filmmakers are claiming that a Dragon (or another flying creature) and a Stallion is in fact ideal a "happily ever after" romantic pairing, or they made a mistake.

Moose

Correction: The directors have said in an interview that the Dragon had turned into a white pegasus when Donkey had drunk the potion. They also said that they cut out the pegasus scenes at a later date.

Corrected entry: When Shrek and Fiona first arrive at Far Far Away, one of the doves flies into a wall and then crashes to the ground at the feet of the King and Queen, no-where near a wall.

Kara

Correction: The King and Queen are standing underneath the castle, which consists of various balconies and towers - perfectly possible that the wall the bird hit just doesn't extend down to the ground.

Jon Sandys

Corrected entry: In the scene where Shrek, Fiona and her family are dining, when Shrek and Fiona's father start to bicker and angrily eat their food, they both go for the pig in the middle of the table. This should have been impossible as the table in other shots is shown to be too long for either of them to reach considering they are both sitting at opposite ends. This is shown especially when the pig goes flying into the air. (00:17:30)

Correction: Actually, the size of the pig does make it possible for both of them to grab legs at either end of the pig. It's a stretch (no pun intended), but not impossible.

MovieFan612

Corrected entry: There is a scene where Shrek is hanging upside down with mud over his face and Fiona pulls it off just to reveal his mouth and she kisses him. This is identical to the scene in "Spider-Man" (2002) where Mary Jane pulls Peter's mask off to kiss him after nearly being mugged.

leyesalot82789

Correction: That's pretty much the point of the scene. Anyway, this does not count as valid trivia according to the rules of the site.

Brad

Corrected entry: When Shrek and Fiona are meeting Fiona's parents for the first time, Shrek notices people in the crowd with pitchforks and weapons. But why did they bring them? They, like everyone else, didn't know Shrek and Fiona were ogres.

Brad

Correction: Those are farm implements and they brought them because they're farmers and just happened to have them with them.

Phixius

Corrected entry: In the first movie, Fiona escaped from the castle with nothing but her green dress. But in this movie she is wearing numerous outfits and is seen packing suitcases. Where did she get them?

Brad

Correction: Some time has passed between the end of the first movie and that point in the second movie. It's not unreasonable that she'd have acquired more than one outfit/possession.

Phixius

Corrected entry: When all the fairy tale creatures leave the swamp to save Shrek, they leave the magic mirror behind. They have no need for it and it's to hard to carry around. At any rate, they definitely don't have it when they all run into the castle. But suddenly, during the "Living la vida loca" song, the magic mirror has appeared from nowhere.

Correction: The magic mirror is not present in the swamp. He's the anchor during the ME coverage of the red carpet. So the fact that he is around for the last sequence is not so strange.

Corrected entry: Given that the Fairy Godmother can create potions that make people beautiful and healthy, why would she need to go on a diet?

Moose

Correction: There are a few possible explanations. For one, it is not uncommon in fairy tales for magical creatures to be unable to use their own magic to aide themselves. Another could be in the nature of her potions. Perhaps she is simply immune to them, being a magical creature, or perhaps they only work if you genuinely believe they will. This is also a common theme in fairy tales. Knowing the standard, everyday ingredients they contain may prevent her from believing they could work on her.

Phixius

Corrected entry: To make the whole movie make sense, watch the alternate opening to the 1st Shrek (deleted scenes on the DVD).

Correction: This trivia is far too vague and is more applicable to the first film as stated in the trivia. It would make more sense to state why the deleted scenes help and what they explain.

Lummie

Corrected entry: When Shrek cannot sleep at the castle, he gets up and starts moving around Fiona's room. He picks up her princess doll off of the shelf and it says the line "Dear Knight I pray that you take this favor as a token of my gratitude." This is the same line Fiona first said to Shrek when he rescued her from the castle in the first movie.

Correction: As mentioned hundreds if not thousands of times, observations in films are not trivia worthy. Additionally obvious observations such as the same line being used in a sequel is nothing new, just look at Terminator.

Lummie

Correction: Copied almost verbatim from IMDB.

Corrected entry: Between shots of Puss singing "She makes you take your clothes off and go dancing in the rain" a chain behind him appears out of nowhere.

Correction: (If you watch VERY CLOSELY in slow-motion, you will see that the chain does not ;appear out of thin air,' but drops down as soon as Puss sits on the chair-thingie.).

Corrected entry: In the beginning of the movie, when we see the shot of Shrek and Fiona in the mud pool breaking wind, the fairies in the bottles cough and sputter despite the fact that the bottles are well sealed from the outside by corks in the top. (00:04:35)

Correction: They can't be "well sealed" because the fairies would end up suffocating and die.

Rlvlk

Corrected entry: The banging on the window shouting "Fiona" scene is also a reference to Swan Lake (the classical ballet), in which the swan girl Odette watches from outside the window, in swan form, while Odile, the magician's evil daughter, takes her place at the ball with the prince. She beats on the window with her wings, but the prince doesn't hear.

Correction: No it's not- it's in reference to the last scene in "The Graduate" when Dustin Hoffman bangs on the glass in the church and yells "ELAINE" - it's a very famous scene.

Corrected entry: When Shrek reads Fiona's diary, on each page after it says she wants a real prince, it says "Mrs. Fiona Charming." This means she must have known who Prince Charming. So how was she so easily fooled into thinking Prince Charming was Shrek. Even though it was years later, people don't change that much, especially Prince Charming who's very picky about his appearance.

Correction: Prince Charming is the generic name for a fairy-tale prince. The Fairy Godmother simply named her son Charming to ensure that he would marry a princess. Fiona, on her hand, would expect _a_ prince, who would in her daydreaming bear the generic name.

Shrek 2 mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Fairy Godmother is throwing the books behind her, the book "Snow White" lands on the other books. "Snow White" noticeably changes position between two shots. (00:41:15)

Question: If I remember correctly, in the trailer the magazine that the Wolf was reading was called "The New Porker" or something similar. Any reason why it was changed to "Pork Illustrated" in the final film?

Answer: The gag is that the wolf has developed a peculiar sexual fetish: he wears women's clothing for fun and is attracted to pigs. The magazine was changed for the trailer to be less suggestive (and thus to make the trailer G-rated).
