My friends swear I'm making this movie up, but a while ago I saw a movie on tv. The main character was a young man whose father had died recently. He traveled to live with his brother where he became a lifeguard, and also did some freelance writing work. Throughout the movie, the man talks to Jesus Christ, sometimes on the telephone, sometimes in person. He also talks to his deceased father. What is this movie called?

Answer: Sounds like Radio Inside (1994).

About 4 - 6 years ago, there was a reality tv show on the air and I'm trying to figure out what it was called. Basically, it was about a killer that was on the loose, and there was a group of people trying to catch him. And he would leave clues, two people would follow the lead, and one of them would be killed. I don't know much about this show, other than small details like a finger in a Sardine, an oil company (?) and it may have occured in a town with water close by. Thank you for any info.

Answer: Murder in Small Town X (2001).

Looking for info on a movie I was on television years ago. Included in the plot was some sort of zombie theme and a soft drink factory. The movie was in color and the period seemed to be in the eighties. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Answer: There is a movie called The Stuff from 1985. It involves a yogurt-like dessert that turns people into zombies when its eaten.

I'm trying to remember the title of a movie I rented a few years ago. I don't remember what year it was made but I'm pretty sure it wasn't an old movie, it was probably after 1990. The concept of the movie is there's this guy, the main character, who wakes up one day and finds that everyone on earth has dropped dead. Except, he finds one woman and one other man alive, but that's it. It's just the three of them. The plot of the movie is basically the main character finds the woman and since they think they're the only 2 people left of earth, they figure they have to repopulate the earth. But, then the other guy comes along, who is better looking and more cool than the main guy. I'd really like to find out what the title of the movie was. Hopefully, someone knows. Thanks.

Answer: That sounds like The Quiet Earth (1985).

Why, in almost any war movie (from Saving Private Ryan to Starship Troopers), do soldiers keep hitting their helmets with their ammo clips before they insert them? Is it for good luck, or does it have something to do with avoiding jamming?

Answer: It makes sure all the rounds in a magazine are properly seated to reduce the chances of jamming. And if you are wondering, soldiers really do it and it really does help.

A common scene in action movies is a bad guy getting shot with a pistol, and flying backwards ten feet. I know this defies Newton's third law, "With every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." If the victim flies ten metres, the shooter would also be propelled ten metres. My question is, what would it take to create a handgun that is capable of flinging the shooter ten metres? Like, if the manafacturer had access to any thearetical alloy, of any strength and density, what would it take? How heavy would a bullet have to be, etc.?

Answer: You've answered your own question. It's NOT possible without violating the laws of physics. You'd need some super-futuristic device that stored kinetic energy in the bullet and then released it on impact or a weapon that manipulated gravity. Needless to say, you ain't gonna see it in your lifetime!

I need help locating a movie that I can't remember the title to. I thought the main actress was Marisssa Jaret Winokur, but looking at her filmography, it doesn't seem to mention it. I saw the movie years ago I think it was on the Hallmark Channel. What I remember is this. Two young women, who are best friends, are at an ice skating rink, not skating they are just talking. When one (whom I thought was Marissa Winokur) sees a young man whom she falls in love with at first site. Finding out all about this man becomes an obsession with her. She finds out where he lives and even rents an apartment across the street from his place so that she can spy on him. She even somehow sneaks into his apt. to find out more info. She does know that they like the same candy which is Sugar Babies. Does this ring a bell with anyone? I just want to find out how the movie started and ended. Thanks.

Answer: The made for TV movie is 'Babycakes' starring Ricki Lake as Grace. She loves a subway conductor, Rob, played by Craig Sheffer. It begins with her seeing him on the subway everyday and falling for him. She eventually orchestrates a way to meet and talk to him, they date, they break up because he has a fiancee, even though he doesn't love the fiancee anymore. Several months later, Rob sees Grace on the subway, chases after her, catches up with her and kisses her. The End.

Answer: Yes, Babycakes. You can watch it on Youtube.

I'm trying to find out the name of a film I saw on TV in the U.K. about 20 years ago. From what I remember it comprises a series of images of the world set to quite hypnotic electronic music, lasts about an hour or so and ends with the detonation of an atomic bomb. I believe the name was one word, non-English, possibly the name of an Aztec, Mayan or Incan god. I believe the director may have been Japanese. Can anybody identify this film from this information?

Answer: Koyaanisqatsi fits the description.

Ok. I remember a movie, sometime from the late 90's, and I just can't remember the name of it. I think the plot had something to do with a group of people runnng from a disease. The first part that I remember was this man in a Catholic church and the diseased people, who had red eyes, were running after him. He found refuge in a grocery somewhere in a destroyed city, where he found these 2 people. I think one of the people was an African American woman. They traveled around until they came to an apartment that had Christmas lights on the outside of the window. There, the origonal three people found a father and his daughter, both unaffected by the disease. They all listen to the radio and hear about an army base that is calling for all people who are not infected with the disease. As they make thier way there, an infected bird drips blood into the father's eye, and he becomes infected. The only way to get infected is to get an infected person's blood into your body, as if through a membrane such as your eye, or in a cut. Well, the others make thier way to the army base, and one of the people there asks the women to wear dresses. One man at the army base is infected, but chained up, and the army people are attempting to speak with him. That is all I remember, but does anyone know the name of this film?

Answer: The movie was "28 Days Later" and it came out in 2002.

Scene in this movie shows a girl standing in a circle of people and a large bell falls on her. Any ideas?

Answer: I believe you're thinking of The Watcher in the Woods. It's one of the first movies that stretched Disney away from the over-cute movies they are most known for. I very much enjoy it, but it can be creepy for the young'uns at times.

One classic movie cliche is an evil man tying a helpless maiden to some train tracks. Does anyone know which movie was first to include a scene like this?

Answer: "Barney Oldfield's Race for Life" (1913) featured the Villian tying Mabel to the tracks for rejecting his advances. Mabel's boyfriend must rush to the rescue.

Does anyone know which movie the line "to making it count" appears? All I can remember is people are making a toast in a bar I believe.

Answer: This was Leonardo DiCaprio's character Jack making a toast - in the first-class dinner scene from the movie "Titanic" - this toast follows a short speech he gives on how he goes about living his life, which to his surprise, intrigues many of the people at the table, who join him in his toast "to making it count".

I really need some help with a film I saw about ten years ago. I'm pretty sure it was an American movie. There was a boy who had a small, old closet in his room. He was playing with some toys, and locked up a little Indian doll in that closet. The next morning he heard some noises, and saw that the doll had come alive. I also remember that the boy had made a plastic deer come alive, so that the doll could hunt it.

Answer: I'm pretty sure you're thinking of the Frank Oz movie "The Indian in the Cupboard."

Can anyone tell me if "Land of The Dead" is the long awaited "Twilight of The Dead", or if "Land." is a different idea from "Twilight."?

Answer: Land of The Dead is the sequel to Day of The Dead, it went by many different names and had many different plots before it was made, one of them was Twilight of the Dead.

I'm looking for a name of a movie that I only remember the trailer for. The basic plot was either a weather forecaster, or a television anchor, goes out in the street to do a forecast and is told that the morning next it will either hail or snow (I can't recall) and then she dies a few days later. If anyone can recall the title, I'd appreciate the enlightenment!

I saw this movie years ago about a man and woman meeting in a sort of way station where it is decided if you have lived a good enough life to go to heaven or if you have to go back to earth and be reincarnated to try again. He finds out he was a tribesman eaten by an animal, she finds out she was Sir Lancelot or a knight. In the end she is going to heaven but he is not, and they fall in love and god lets them both go to heaven. Any idea what movie this is?

Answer: Sounds like "Defending Your Life" with Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep.

I'm looking for a movie that came on HBO in the 80's. The movie was about a group of people who discovered that, I believe, a logging company was somehow getting chemicals in the water which caused everything to grow extremely large. They showed a tadpole that weighed about 5lbs, and at one point the group was attacked by an extremely large bear.

Answer: Prophecy, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079758/.

I'm looking for the title of a late 80's/early 90's movie about a yuppie couple having a baby. The husband is a columnist for a local paper and writes about the pregnancy in his column and the entire city follows along on their journey, to the dismay of the wife. He gets a police escort to the hospital when the cop realizes who he is.

Answer: I believe you are referring to "She's Having a Baby" (1988 Paramount Pictures), starring Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth McGovern. Alternatively a 1987 TV movie called Warm Hearts, Cold Feet. Starring Tim Matheson and Margaret Colins. They play rival newspaper reporters, who have a baby and they each report the highs and lows of pregnancy. The scene with the cop happens when he rushes home to conceive the child.
