Much Apu About Nothing - S7-E23
Corrected entry: Kearney uses a fake ID to purchase alchohol, but it's already been revealed in previous episodes that he is old enough to drive, has a son, shaves, was around in the year 1976, so why does he need a fake ID?
The Springfield Files - S8-E10
Corrected entry: Mulder and Scully refer to the alien as a UFO (meaning unidentified flying object) yet said alien never actually flies.
Correction: Character mistake, not a television show mistake.
Corrected entry: When Otto plays Bart's guitar for the first time on the bus, it generates an amazing electric sound, but it isn't even plugged into an amp.
Correction: That's the joke.
Corrected entry: It is revealed in this episode that the Simpsons live in the state of Kentucky.
Correction: However, it is NOT possible for the Simpsons to live in Kentucky. The Simpsons' beach is an OCEAN BEACH. It not only has whales and dolphins in it, it also (in several episodes) is used as a transportation/trade route. Remember the shipment of Hot Pants in the "soul mate" episode? Remember the time Willy was deported because of the illegal immigrant laws? The fact that there's a rocky shoreline and a lighthouse (even one operated by E.A.R.L) shows oceanfront. There (for the geographically impaired) is NO OCEAN in Kentucky. In addition, there's no Evergreen Terrace (nor Evergreen St., Ct., Ave., Blvd., etc) in Springfield KY.
Springfield contiguously changes, that's part of the running gag. Sometimes it's landlocked.
The Good, the Sad and the Drugly - S20-E17
Corrected entry: When Willy is knocked out by the falling letters, there are 3 Ns that fall sideways next to his head, making it appear as if he was sleeping. There are only 2 Ns in "Springfield Elementary School."
Correction: If you look closer at the N nearest Willie's head, it is actually the "M" from "Elementary" with a piece missing.
Corrected entry: In the opening, Homer tosses out the uranium stuck on his shirt. It bounces once, and disappears mid bounce.
Correction: It disappears as Bart swings round the lamppost. There is nothing to say he didn't hit it with his skateboard, which would send it flying in another direction, thus making it seem like it has vanished.
In every episode prior to season 20 that I've seen it hits the curb and bounces up onto the sidewalk. From season 20 on, Otto catches it and eats it.
Holidays of Future Passed - S23-E9
Corrected entry: When Carl and Lenny are talking about the brain switching ceremony in Moe's Bar they speak with each others voices. For this to happen they would have to have switched vocal chords too.
Correction: This is speculation at best, not a mistake, since there's never been a brain switch to prove this. Plus, the vocal chord is controlled by muscles to change speech, and the muscles are controlled by the brain. This is why people can impersonate other people's voice (or at least change their own voice).
Corrected entry: On the family tombstones, Maude's tombstone reads 'Mod Flanders'.
Correction: The tombstones say "Maude, Rod, Todd, and Ned". It doesn't say Mod on any tombstones.
Corrected entry: When Lisa is researching artist Johan Oldenveldt, it says he was born 6 May, 1942 and died 38 years earlier on 5 December, 1904. (00:06:50)
Correction: The article she looks at shows his lifespan as 6 May 1859 - 5 December 1932.
Corrected entry: Homer's pet lobster, "Pinchy" is red. However, lobsters aren't red until you cook them. When they are alive they are brownish/black.
Correction: Pinchy is a darkish, almost brown color, and only bright red when cooked (of course the Simpsons also depict people as being yellow).
Corrected entry: Lisa is singing "One (Is the Loneliest Number)" and looks up the composer to find out that he "died of a heart attack suffered on Valentine's Day." Although Harry Nilsson DID suffer a massive heart attack on 14 Feb 1993, he didn't die of heart disease until 15 Jan 1994.
Correction: Lisa's search said 'Harry Nilsson - Died of massive heart attack SUFFERED on Valentine's Day'. The operative word here is 'suffered'; so what that means is Nilsson died (eventually) of a heart attack that began on the 14th of February the year before. It's tricky semantics, yes but it's correct. It would've been a mistake if he'd said 'died of massive heart attack on Valentine's Day'.
Corrected entry: When Homer and Marge find Mrs. Bellamy's body, the body is shown to be neatly placed on the ground with Bellamy lying on her back. Homer then lifts up the body and it is shown that there is a pair of scissors stuck in her back. If scissors were stabbed in her back, then this means it wouldn't be possible for the body to be neatly placed on the floor lying on her back, as the scissors would cause the body to push upwards. (00:09:50)
Correction: Since the murder was revealed as a hoax at the end of the episode, the scissors were probably fake as well.
Corrected entry: In the shot of Smithers, right after Moe says "Your queen is back", Smithers' eyebrows overlap his glasses, and you can see the outline of his glasses on his eyebrows.
Correction: After multiple viewings, I think his eyebrows go under his glasses, but just give the illusion of his eyebrows going over his glasses.
Corrected entry: In the beginning of the episode, Bart is talking about being 10 years old even though his 10th birthday is in the episode "Radio Bart" later in the season.
Corrected entry: When the bus goes past Ned Flanders while he is performing a drink-driving test with Chief Wiggum, you can see heads floating in mid-air.
Correction: I've just checked this scene, and none of the heads appear to be floating. You can't see below a lot of them, but they're not floating.
Corrected entry: In the Knowledgeium, when Professor Frink says 'No more pictures,' his lips don't move.
Correction: I'm not sure what you're seeing, but his lips do move when he says this.
Corrected entry: When Bart says 'I'm doing the Conan O'Brien show', the top of his head is slightly transparent - you can see the lining of the kitchen cupboards through it.
Correction: I've just seen this part, and Bart's head absolutely does not look transparent.
Homer's Barbershop Quartet - S5-E1
Corrected entry: During all of the flashbacks, Homer is in stage 1 hair loss (birth of Bart), but shouldn't he have the amount of hair he had after finding out about Lisa's birth? If the flashbacks did occur 8 years ago, shouldn't Marge be pregnant and Homer be bald?
Corrected entry: When Rev Lovejoy talks to Marge about how Flanders kept bothering him, like visiting the church and phoning him, in one of the scenes Lovejoy and his wife are sitting in a cafe in France, and Flanders manages to phone him. Thing is, how did Flanders know where they were, or even know they were at that cafe?
Correction: That is the joke. Flanders is so persistant in his confessions and questions that he'll find Lovejoy no matter what.
Corrected entry: Mike Scioscia's (the guest star) hat changes from red filled at the start of the roller coaster ride and ends up being white at the end.
Correction: He's a well known troublemaker. He may need to hide his identity (He may be blacklisted from certain places) or just force of habit (he's probably done it for a long time).
