Other mistake: A bomber leisurely throws a backpack into a trashcan, which explodes moments later. It does not seem to weigh much, and is easily handled by one hand without effort. Later, we learn that the bomb used about 100 pounds of ammonium nitrate. There could not have been 100 pounds of ammonium nitrate in that backpack considering how easily it was handled.(00:01:30)
Other mistake: A mayday call is received. It is shown on the moving map display as originating to starboard of the boat Magnum and Higgins are on. They promise to go help but turn to port.(00:01:50)
Character mistake: Ana Ortiz, who plays Susan Sampson, is of Puerto Rican ancestry and speaks Spanish perfectly, without any accent. At the very end of this episode she is giving a toast to "a very successful mission" and then add "y muchos mas", which is supposed to mean "and many more." Except that in Spanish, missions are female, and she should have said "y muchas mas."(00:47:50)
Revealing mistake: Will and Frankie are in a boat. In the first wide shot the boat is going rather slowly, in the next shot they are speeding many times faster, and the shot is erratic, showing that the action was speeded up.(00:02:05)
Character mistake: A chart shows the components of a bomb. Among the items listed is what should be acetone peroxide, but it is misspelled as aceton peroxid.(00:10:15)
Stupidity: A supposedly covert camera is placed in plain sight on a wall in a crowded room, with a prominent antenna showing, and a blinking blue light.(00:16:55)
Character mistake: A van is shown with "Aureli Fallaci" on the side and front. Aureli is the plural of Aurelius, a proper name. Fallaci - the plural of fallacio - just means "fallacious or deceptive." So the letters on this surveillance truck mean nothing logical. It stands out like a sore thumb. Not what you want for a covert surveillance van.(00:15:15)
Suggested correction:Aureli and Fallici are just two common last names in Italy. (Like writer Oriana Fallaci) So the van can be from a catering company that uses the last names of company founders (very common in Italy). The fallaci meanings "failure" it's correct but no-one who see it on a Van in Italy will think about "failure" instead of a last name.
Continuity mistake: Will is trying to have dinner with a target. There are many people around and diners eating in the restaurant. When the "blonde" puts a gun to Will's head and a fight ensues, the restaurant is instantly deserted. Not only that, but every table is completely devoid of dishes, glasses, etc. It is like the diners were never there.(00:27:30)
Factual error: Will is asked by Jai to place his wrist watch - which is filled with explosives - against a wall. He does, and it somehow sticks to the vertical concrete wall. An adhesive back would have been noticed by Will, as it was against his skin on his wrist. Not to mention that an explosion in a contained space that small would have deafened them both, or worse.(00:35:05)
Continuity mistake: Will and Frankie are trapped in a safe with water rising. One moment the water is below their waists, and in the next sentence the water is almost to their shoulders.(00:36:15)
Factual error: An Army Lieutenant comes in to announce a phone call. His fatigues have the top button buttoned. Not authorized. An exception is when a person is at the firing range. The top button can be buttoned while in firing position to prevent shell casings from dropping inside the shirt.(00:18:05)
Factual error: Dr. Hynek is showing a movie on a table projector. The light from the projector is shown directed towards a portable movie screen, and is covering maybe the center quarter of the screen. In the next shot the movie is occupying the entire screen. There is no way the projector being that close to the screen would show a full screen image. It would need a special wide angle lens, which the projector does not have, as shown by the tight beam of light from it.(00:03:40)
Factual error: General officer topcoats have two mohair stripes on the sleeve. The general wearing the topcoat has none. Second, hands in pockets are not allowed. Regulations state: "members will not... stand or walk with hands in pockets of any uniform combination, other than to insert or remove items." Third, it is unauthorized to turn up collars when it is cold. Gray scarves can be used. Also, the generals both have their 4-star shoulder insignias backwards. The points of the stars parallel to the epaulets should be towards the neck.(00:16:30)
Factual error: Lieutenant Commander Reese is wearing flight wings on the left chest of his flight suit. They are not US Navy Naval Aviator wings.(00:21:35)
Other mistake: MacGyver arrives at an airplane crash site. It is smoking. Yet this is supposedly days after the crash. And there is no evidence of fire anywhere.(00:11:25)
Factual error: MacGyver attaches a hose from a car gasoline filler port to the jet engine from a crashed plane. He uses a makeshift lever and the engine ignites. 1. A crashed jet engine has an astronomically low chance of working. 2. A jet engine runs on essentially refined kerosene with some additives. Automotive fuel would be useless. 3. The hose used to "provide fuel to the engine" is not siphoned to provide a usable flow of gasoline. 4. The braided wire hose is quite a long piece. It just happened to be lying there completely free of any holding clamps or terminations? How would just one piece of a long hose become free of the airplane? 5. The engine is not attached to anything, but the thrust of the lit engine does not move it one inch. 6. Even after being lit, it does not set fire to anything in spite of being in the middle of a lot of combustible material.(00:13:15)
