Fail-Safe (1964)

Stupidity: The President gives an order to have fighters go to afterburners and intercept and shoot down Bomber Group 6. When the order is given to go to afterburners, the scene shows the fighters firing missiles instead.

Bombers B-52 (1957)

Factual error: Sgt. Brennan and the Base Commander are riding in a staff car. They get out to see new runway construction, and when they get back in the car, Sgt. Brennan gets in first, followed by the Base Commander. Sgt. Brennan is on the right in the rear seat. According to proper protocol, the junior person sits to the left of the senior person. He should have been to the left of the CO.

Deadhead - S3-E2

Other mistake: Micaela and her partner are chasing an RV. A man from the RV throws a propane tank in her path. You can tell from the sound and how it bounces that it is empty. When the car hits it, the tank explodes, and she swerves the car into the brush and the airbags deploy. Later, as she is driving on the same road she gets a call that the RV has been spotted. Her car shows no damage. (00:17:44 - 00:29:10)

Deadhead - S3-E2

Revealing mistake: Grace is lugging two suitcases down the stairs. She is acting as if they are very heavy. Ben offers to help and takes them from her. But he carries one with a bent elbow, and it is obvious that it is not really heavy at all. (00:13:30)

Vanishing Point - S1-E12

Factual error: Ben and his wife are listening to the radio in Danny's truck. The station shown is WKUD. They are in Tannersville, NY and WKUD is in Edgewood, Ohio, 420 miles away. Too far for an FM station to reach. Besides, the audio is talking about news in New York City.

Contrails - S1-E11

Factual error: The Captain of Flight 828 is recreating the storm the airplane flew through in a simulator. He states that he increased speed to 300 Knots to fly through the storm. That is not accurate. If he increased the speed to 300 Knots then he was flying below 300 knots. Yet the cruising speed of a Boeing 737 is over 450 Knots. He could not have been cruising at such a slow airspeed. Even the 300 knots he increased to is slower than the plane's normal cruising speed.

Factual error: Morse code is supposedly being transmitted by the blinking street lights. They supposedly spell "For 3veryth5h1ng that 7iv3s is holy." I know Morse code. It was just a random scattering of letters. (01:00:05)

For the Want of a Nail - S6-E9

Continuity mistake: In a previous scene Dr. Choi had asked that a patient using a nasal oxygen cannula be given an oxygen mask, which the nurse did (over the cannula, but that is another mistake previously documented). Several scenes later we see that patient again, and he is back to wearing the nasal cannula and having breathing difficulties.

For the Want of a Nail - S6-E9

Factual error: Dr. Choi is seeing a patient. The patient is wearing a nasal cannula. Dr. Choi asks that the oxygen be upped and an oxygen mask be used. The nurse takes a mask and puts it on the patient. Right over the cannula.

Hard Landing - S1-E15

Factual error: A thief has stolen 75 million dollars. He runs out with two large duffel bags. All US bills weigh a single gram. This means that $1,000,000 in $100 bills - the largest bills in circulation - weigh around 10 kilograms, or a little over 22 pounds. $75 million would be 1,650 pounds. No way this could be carried in two duffel bags.

Factual error: A kid comes to the police station to give Micaela a gun used in a murder. He has the gun in a paper bag in his hands. How could a kid enter the inner offices of the NYPD with a gun in his hands (albeit in a bag), and not get caught at least by metal detectors? (00:26:47)

Arrival II (1998)

Continuity mistake: Sandra and her strong man are pursuing Jack and Bridget. They almost catch up to them and bang up both sides of their wagon in the car chase. Bridget and Jack escape, with eventually Sandra and company in pursuit a way behind them, tracking them on an alien computer. When they reach the power plant where Jack and Bridget are, their car has no damage at all. (01:18:20 - 01:29:05)

We're All Crazy Sometimes - S4-E11

Question: A woman is on a breathing tube and she is in a coma. She later undergoes an operation and wakes up due to a dopamine inflow. She is talking normally although she still has the breathing mechanism (albeit not connected by a hose) in her neck. How can she talk normally with that tube still in her?

toroscan

Answer: That's a tracheal tube. Most people can talk perfectly normal with tracheal tubes. Check out Mattie Stepanek for one of the most famous examples. He had a tracheal tube for most of his life and never had problems with speech.

Got it. Many thanks.
