Audio problem: While Johnboy and the press guy park, the Hindenburg is hovering over the aircraft field, while audible voices cheer alongside clapping and shouts. Yet, there is no visible crowd, but a small scattering of Naval comrades on the field. (00:17:23)

Factual error: When Elizabeth asks Zeb how Vanessa can be happy, Zeb has his old catalog with a bunch of flower seed packets on his lap, and as they both hold up the packets, particularly Elizabeth, the modern Universal Product Codes are at the back of the packets. Other mistake: When the wild hawk flies over and soon lands on the green painted chicken box, not only are different birds of prey shown in these shots, their flight feathers are also intact. When Zeb and Jim-Bob walk over to the bird, it's apparent that this hawk standing atop the box has the primary feathers clipped on its left wing. (00:31:00)

It is Earl Hamner Jr. who portrays Michael MacKenzie in this uncredited onscreen cameo during the scene (note teeth and facial features are identical).
