Revealing mistake: While Mary Frances and Jim-Bob are flying the Cody kite with Sister Scolastica there's an overhead shot from behind the kite, and the lower string goes off toward the right even though the teens are to the left, and the kite is also being held up by a wire at the top which leads off screen. Visible crew/equipment: After Corabeth sees Daisy stop for gas and comments about John-Boy, when it cuts to the mill we can see two chalk T-marks on the floor, near Boone and Jim-Bob. (00:09:05)

Continuity mistake: When Olivia goes to check on Mary Ellen to see if she needs help with John Curtis, Olivia enters the bedroom, shuts the door, then picks up the baby and walks to the bed with the door still shut behind her, but in the next shot that door is now open behind Olivia. (00:27:40)
Visible crew/equipment: When Elizabeth tells Yancy and Sissy about desertion being a loophole, the camera turns to the right just as Sissy walks over to the bed where Tiger is lying, and the arm of a crew member is visible in the mirror's reflection at the right side of the screen. (00:42:15)

Visible crew/equipment: When Erin and Esther Grant drive up to the deserted Pickett plant, as the vehicle stops the reflection of a crew member standing nearby is on the rear window. Then in the interior shot, just as Erin and Esther enter, the pole of set equipment is visible at the left side of the screen. Additionally, tape and chalk marks are visible on the scuffed up floor, and note that J.D. even looks down to make certain his feet are positioned at his two small white marks. (00:41:05)

Continuity mistake: When Verdie and Olivia are at Godsey's with their grandchildren, in Verdie's closeup as she asks Ike to move Jody's name to its proper place on the honor roll board, the grocery bag top is folded toward her, but in the wideshots the bag top is folded away from her. Additionally, while Verdie and Olivia are in the store, Harriet has a blue lollipop and John Curtis is licking a red lollipop, but when Verdie and Olivia leave the store in the exterior shot, Harriet is holding a red lollipop and John Curtis is holding a blue one. Visible crew/equipment: When Marcus arrives in his car the first time and walks toward the home, the plastic T-mark is visible on the ground in front of the steps, and there's a chalk T-mark on the porch where Elizabeth stands. (00:06:50)
Continuity mistake: When Mary Ellen tells Olivia that Esther changed her mind about going out, Olivia has a dark ponytail holder in her hair when she walks into Esther's bedroom with the hatbox, but in the next shot as Olivia talks to Esther the ponytail holder is now white. (00:25:10)
Visible crew/equipment: After Jim-Bob finishes siphoning the gas out of John's car, when John walks over to the vehicle Jim-Bob tells him he has a surprise for him, and the distinctive shadow of one of the location's large carbon arc lights is visible on the ground behind John. It's seen again after John's comment about mechanics and Jim-Bob's car. (00:33:10)
Visible crew/equipment: After the shots of Olivia and John singing in the truck, when Mary Ellen wishes her parents were home, in the tracking shot as the camera moves past the vehicle, we can see reflections of equipment and the camera operator wearing a hat.
