Factual error: The morning after the ambush, Cyrano meets with the baker asking for a private spot. Ragueneau is an amateur poet, and he reads his composition. When Cyrano asks for a place more private than the oven surrounded by men, the baker recites "Jupiter and Pluto are planets, revolving like us, far apart." The story is set in the 1600s, and Pluto hadn't yet been identified as a planet nor sighted, let alone named. It happened in 1930. (00:28:40)

Factual error: The movie is set in 2015 as clearly stated. When Ben reads the newspaper waiting for Jules' first mail after their meeting, the newspaper he's holding shows the headline "NFL Revises Settlement, Making Open-Ended Pledge", which was from the New York Times of June 26, 2014, and when his co-workers helpfully cover his obviously portentous erection with the newspaper, they do it using a page from July 7, "The Fallacy of Balanced Literacy" (this one detail is helped by freeze-frame, since the page is upside-down). Moreover, when Jules joins Matt in the bedroom after she fell asleep herself with Paige, the TV in the room is playing Jimmy Fallon's show from March 5th, again of 2014. (00:20:05 - 00:38:40)

Factual error: When Linnet walks to her room never to wake up again, she walks past a newspaper ("Daily Sketch") with the date of Monday, May 17, 1937. Since the cover story is the opening scene in the night club, and the wedding happens exactly six weeks after that scene, the movie has to take place in July at most. However, in the hotel lobby in Aswan, during the introduction of Ms. Van Schuyler and her companion (right after cousin Andrew tells the clerk that "not a soul" must see the telegram), one of the guests is reading issue 700 of the French magazine Candide, which came out only mid-August of the same year. Factual error: The opening assault of the movie bears the date October 31, 1914. Poirot's squad attacks the Germans using the cover of gas delivered through canisters. The first documented use of poison gas in warfare was in April of the following year by the Germans, but it possible that the Belgians would attack using non-lethal gas, which they employed starting August of the same year. They wouldn't have the gas masks that they are sporting during the assault, though, including a full headed hood designed by Cluny MacPherson in 1915 (worn by one of the extras that wanders behind Poirot as he takes off his respirator). Factual error: During the scene with Amelia in Holly's bedroom, on the wall you can see the iconic photo on the cover of the "London Calling" album by The Clash. It's a photo with the bassist smashing the guitar onstage at the Palladium September 20, 1979, almost two years after the movie supposedly takes place. But there's also a Blondie poster on the right of the bed which, while based in fact on a shot from 1976, is a modern cheap styling in pink leopard print widely, marketed on the internet today but that is not appropriate to the time period. Factual error: To show how March was plenty wrong in his deduction about airport traffic, a big plane flies above his head. The plane has the trademark modern South West bright blue livery, but in 1977 it would have the Desert Gold colors. Or no colors at all, since South West didn't serve Los Angeles until 1982. Factual error: March is already wasted at the party, and tells the barman that "it's the killer bees." In the background as he says those lines (and even better when the dancer gets on her knees) you can see a bottle with half its label torn. That's because you can still make out from the bottom (and the shape of the bottle) that it's a bottle of the premium variety of Beefeater gin, Beefeater 24, which was launched only in October 2008, a good three decades after the supposed year of the movie. Factual error: After Lady Westholme commented on Poirot's absence, and we saw him seasick in his cabin, the focus is again on the Boyntons. In the background you can see the ship's other guests entertaining themselves with a dance. They are dancing to the tunes of a rearranged version of "Ta-Ra-Ra Boom-De-Ay", which is perfect for the time period, but their dance is a version of the "Lambeth Walk." The movie takes place in May 1937, and the musical "Me and my girl" that invented and popularized this dance would debut in December of the same year. (00:15:10)

Factual error: We're in the year 1977, and it's established later by multiple elements that it's October 26th. However, at the gas station March reads a headline about a killer bee in Brazil (which is a plot point, even!), which refers to real life events from November of the same year. (00:06:45)

Factual error: Showing the exterior of Healy's apartment, it is established that he lives above the famous stand-up club "The Comedy Store." Showing the entrance though, they show also the board above it which is composed of signatures of famous comedians - most of them who never appeared on it in 1977, when the movie is set. For instance you can see Roseanne (Barr) 's signature on the bottom right corner, and also Pauly Shore's. (00:10:55)

Factual error: Kindaichi begins his revelations at 4:10, and the time gradually shifts at 4:20 (which is a bit much for the amount of information revealed and the dynamics of the conversation, but okay). He then moves to the river, which is a couple minutes away from the house by car, to deliver the rest of his speech, and the sun dawns at that moment. It's a Japanese winter with -20 C°, the sun surely wouldn't rise at 4 AM. (00:06:30 - 00:12:00)

Factual error: Dario Brando dies in 1880 (date on the gravestone) but when he was screaming at his son from his bed, Dio was reading "The Rise of Silas Lapham", which while being appropriate for his character, would be published only 5 years laters (started serialization in 1884).
