Episode #1.7 - S1-E7

Factual error: The victim has been shot while he was lying in the coffin with his arms crossed. Somehow, he keeps his arms perfectly crossed even when he's dead, despite being carried around in a casket propped in vertical position merely a little more than 15 minutes later. Rigor mortis takes way longer to begin, his lifeless arms would have flailed off position a long time before, not stayed in the dramatic mummy position with no supports to hold them in place. Magnum, P.I. (1980)

Heal Thyself - S3-E11

Factual error: Magnum shows the news of Dr. Karen Harmon on the newspaper to TC and Rick and tells them "She was with the 71st Evac Hospital at Binh Thuy, remember?", but the 71st Evac was at Pleiku, over 600km up north. (00:07:00)

Mr. White Death - S3-E8

Factual error: The episode opens with a caption "Miami, 1955." However, as Salvatore Marchese sits in the barber's chair, he picks up as his reading of choice a copy of the National Geographic...the April 1982 edition. (00:02:20)

Die He Said - S1-E8

Factual error: Devon's password is his name spelled backwards, Nevod - but Windows (which he seems to be using, but in the day and age this show was made, it's pretty much a constant) has a minimum of 6 characters for a password. (00:19:00)

Die He Said - S1-E8

Factual error: The lease contract that Magnum inspects puts the City of Haleiwa in the "County of Hawaii" in the State of Hawaii, but it's Honolulu county, not "Hawaii." (00:09:40)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)

Flashback - S3-E6

Factual error: Magnum gets to the airfield looking for TC the first time, at the very beginning of his drive you can see in the building in the background a modern window AC unit - that kind of device was available in 1936, but its cost certainly makes it unlikely, as it'd cost the equivalent of $8,000 today, not really something for the dingy shack it's mounted on. Magnum, P.I. (1980)

Flashback - S3-E6

Factual error: Magnum is checking out newspapers from year 1936...but they are copies of The Hawaii Herald, and that is impossible, since it started publications (with that name) only in 1942 as an Americanised version of the original Hawaii Hochi. (00:39:55)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)

Flashback - S3-E6

Factual error: At the movies, Magnum is watching a movie with Bette Davis, the first one she played in, "The Bad Sister" and comments "Keep it up, old girl, you just might have a future as an actress." Funny, but the dream is set in 1936, not 1931 when that movie came out. Implausibility of finding it in theaters aside, by 1936 young Bette Davis had already won her first Oscar. (00:30:30)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)

Flashback - S3-E6

Factual error: When Magnum offers popcorn to Irene Yah-Ling Sun, he is holding it in a box. In 1936, bags were the norm, and the design of the box is from at least a couple decades later. (00:29:00)

Magnum, P.I. (1980)

Flashback - S3-E6

Factual error: The very first plane in the scene when Magnum goes where he'll meet TC is a Piper J-3 Cub. They enter production in 1938, but this episode is set in 1936. (00:16:55)

I Saw the Sun Rise - S1-E1

Factual error: Magnum comes up from the boat with 1 kg of gold - as also inscribed on the bar itself. Thing is, the ingot he brings is massive; a kilobar, even of the brick-shaped kind, is never as large. (00:34:15)

Perchance to Dream - S1-E26

Factual error: A vital part of the plot's resolution is based on the fact that the reading activity of the brain happens in the right hemisphere, while the dream activity is localized in the left half, making thus impossible to read during a dream. Besides anecdotal experience that says the contrary, this 'fact' is not supported by medical studies, which in fact contradict it. There is no hard distinction, it varies greatly between individuals and even going by those studies who could be seen as supportive of the theory, reading would not be impossible and speaking would be just as hard.

Factual error: During the opening credits, when Nina Arianda' s name pops up, you also see the invite from the Verdi club for Florence's performance. It's the beginning of the story, but in the street you can see the cinema marquee for the movie "Three Is A Family", released on November 23, barely 3 days before Florence's death. (00:01:00)

Factual error: Annu's SAS stewardess uniform (the company is explicitly mentioned) is accurate in colors and design for the time period (it's the pre-1983 type), but the hat lacks the crest of the company, having just a generic golden laurel. (01:08:20)

Factual error: John Callahan is still a struggling cartoonist who has not even gotten his first gig when he shows to a woman at the library two sketches, the second being a joke about Starbucks opening a new coffee store in someone's rear end. Callahan shows the first issue of the Portland student gazette to a policeman a few scenes later and it is dated 1978, Back then Starbucks hadn't even expanded outside of Seattle yet, it will begin only a decade later. Hotel Artemis (2018)

Factual error: Sherman prints a gun through the hospital's 3D printer. We see the gun, the cylinder, and 6 bullets. But if bullets are printed too, they still would need to contain the gunpowder, and the 3D printer construct shown there looks made out of a single kind of material, plain looking, surely not the product of a wonder machine that'd be able to recreate the complex chemistry required to make working bullets it was not even designed to do - in fact they look like suppositories, with no division at all between primer, casing, etc.

A Simple Favor (2018)

Factual error: Detective Summerville tells Sean that his wife got a rental Kia from Budget paying in cash. But Budget does not allow the initial cost to be paid in cash; the payment must come from credit or debit card, cash can be used only as the last payment when you return the car. (00:37:30)

Isi & Ossi (2020)

Factual error: The movie is set in the year of production, but the "Grazia" issue on the magazine stand, featuring Gwen Stefani, is the March 31st 2016 one. (00:08:00)

Factual error: Jack Crawford lists Clarice Starling's accomplishments saying that she has a double major in Psych (ology) and Criminology and graduated "magna." Clarice talking with the creepy Dr. Chilton establishes further that she graduated from UVA, where she also followed Crawford's seminar. Problem is, the University of Virginia did not offer a Criminology major in the 90s (does now, but began only in the 00s) and to this day it does not have Latin honors. (00:06:30)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Some colleges/universities allow "self-designed" majors. If UVA offered enough Criminology courses at the time, it would be possible for Clarice to have this double major.

Relic Hunter (1999)

Affaire de Coeur - S1-E15

Factual error: Entering the secret room in the old part of the castle, the protagonists find there the ring and a specific painting...but doing so, they casually walk in front of another painting kinda hidden in the background...a perfect copy of the uber-famous Leonardo Da Vinci painting "Lady with an Ermine"! Considering that the painting was finished in 1490, the opening caption of the episode said "1430." Even if after the incident the young lord lived into his 80s or 90s, there surely wouldn't be a perfect copy of it in his secret hideout. (00:25:40)
