Mad Max (1979)

Mad Max mistake picture

Visible crew/equipment: In the widescreen edition DVD, when Max's wife tugs at the chain on the back of the car after they have escaped the gang members, before she sees the ripped-off hand tied to it, you can see a crew member's hand holding the chain. (01:00:50)

Mad Max (1979)

Mad Max mistake picture

Continuity mistake: After Max and his family reach Aunt May's house, Jessie decides to go down to the beach. As she walks toward Max, working on the Holden, she's wearing sandals. She walks around the van and is now wearing sheep skin boots. Yet, as she walks off, she is now wearing sandals again. (01:02:15)

Mad Max (1979)

Mad Max mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Max has stolen the Interceptor and is closing in on the bikers for the first time, there's a sequence of shots showing the bikers and the approaching Interceptor. They're on a two-lane road surrounded by trees. Cut to Max turning on the car's blower and shifting gears. Then we see him dive into the bikers; but the whole scenery has changed. The road is now narrow and there are no trees around.

Mad Max (1979)

Mad Max mistake picture

Continuity mistake: During the opening chase sequence, one police car (March Hare) is behind Nightrider while another (Big Bopper) is on another roadway attempting to join the chase. Big Bopper is wearing an air dam beneath the front bumper, while March Hare is not. But for a few shots, we see March Hare does have an air dam. It is seen when March Hare is first shown from the front, in the distance behind Nightrider, then again when both Hare and Bopper are shown right behind Nightrider as they approach the boy in the road. It is also present when Big Booper spins and we see March Hare pass, viewed through Bopper's windshield. (00:03:10 - 00:07:10)

American Gangster (2007)

American Gangster mistake picture

Factual error: At one point, Frank Lucas is speaking on a public telephone. Visible in the background is a poster with a web address on it (ends in .biz).

American Gangster (2007)

American Gangster mistake picture

Factual error: In a shot in Harlem, a Ford Econoline AVIS rental truck drives on the adjacent street. The specific Econoline van was at least a mid-90's to 2000+ model van and the movie takes place in the 70s.

American Gangster (2007)

American Gangster mistake picture

Factual error: When Frank puts coins in the pay phone, a blue label states it is a NYNEX phone. It is 1970, yet NYNEX wasn't formed until 1984. (00:20:45)

American Gangster (2007)

American Gangster mistake picture

Factual error: The ambulance that the junkie cop leaps out of is a mid-1980s GMC (note the 4 square headlamps), though the film takes place in 1971. (00:35:55)

Battlestar Galactica mistake picture

Saga of a Star World (1) - S1-E1

Revealing mistake: During the sequence where Starbuck is attempting to land his damaged Viper on the Galactica flight deck, Athena begins running a diagnostic scan on her computer. In the first insert shot of her computer screen, near the top right hand side of the shot, the words "MADE IN USA" are legible in the diagram. These survivors of the "12 Colonies" are searching for a mythical 13th colony known as "Earth" that they've never been to, so having American software is quite out of place.

Dan in Real Life (2007)

Dan in Real Life mistake picture

Factual error: The license plates on Dan's car are very inaccurate fakes. The colors especially are way off. Certainly, the makers may use a fake sequence of characters the same way "555" phone numbers are, but the styling of the plate should look right. Real NJ plates are a pale yellow along the top 1/4 that fades to a very pale tan by halfway down. Dan's plate is a bright yellow (nearly orange) at the top and the rest is white. The numerals are also the wrong typeface. The mistake is made more obvious by the fact that real New Jersey plates are seen in the early portion of the film on other cars.

The Final Countdown mistake picture

Continuity mistake: There are two F-14s that deal with the yacht and the two Zeros. They are respectively numbered 202 and 203 prominently on both sides of their forward fuselages. But when one fires a missile to down the second Zero, suddenly it is number 200, a jet that hasn't been launched. (00:50:25)

The Final Countdown mistake picture

Revealing mistake: When the Zeros destroy the yacht, mooring lines can be seen holding the boat in place as it explodes. Obviously, it isn't actually at sea, but is very near shore. (00:45:35)

The Final Countdown mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Lasky heads toward the conning tower, an A-7 Corsair is shown at left (and the helicopter nose has a number "3" on it). As he is led inside the tower, the camera pans up, and now the Corsair is gone, replaced by an E-2 Hawkeye (and the number "3" on the heli is gone, too). (00:06:45)

The Final Countdown mistake picture

Continuity mistake: As the helicopter lands on the USS Nimitz, there is no number on the nose. But as Lasky disembarks, the number "3" appears. (00:06:25)

The Final Countdown mistake picture

Continuity mistake: A helicopter ferries Lasky to the Nimitz, but as it takes off, it is marked as unit 9010, but in flight after passing the Arizona Memorial, it is unit 9717. (00:03:30 - 00:04:30)

Lethal Weapon 2 (1989)

Lethal Weapon 2 mistake picture

Plot hole: The hitman in the tow truck leans into the rear/left corner of the cab as the surfboard approaches. The board hits the glass at the very top, dead center. Hence, it definitely misses him completely, yet the hitman is killed. Windshields don't break into "shards" (which is another mistake made listed here, and as it can't exist, it can't be the cause of death) and the roof is not damaged. He is the driver, and he stops the truck by braking. There is no vehicle collision. It is clear to all viewers that the makers intended the surfboard to be the cause of death - nobody watching the film thought otherwise.

Apocalypse Now (1979)

Apocalypse Now mistake picture

Visible crew/equipment: As the boat crew steps ashore to find Kilgore, the obvious shadows of two crew and their equipment are seen moving across the backs of the soldiers and then the raised netting slightly further away. This isn't the documentary crew they meet shortly afterwards, who are further onto the mainland. (00:27:20)

Suggested correction: In this scene, the boat crew immediately encounter a camera crew filming the soldiers. This is their shadows.

While they do encounter a documentary film crew, this does not happen until a few seconds after the mistake occurs. The shadows of the film crew are shown when they are walking onto shore, whilst the documentary film crew are shown more onto the main land. Plus, it seems a little weird Francis Ford Coppola would decide to randomly include shadows of a documentary film crew when the cameo doesn't happen until a few seconds later. Clearly this is the shadow of the camera and cameraman cast on them, and is a valid mistake.

Titanic (1997)

Titanic mistake picture

Continuity mistake: The design of the ship's bow changes significantly while at sea. The white form on top of the bow used for mooring first does, then doesn't have an indentation on top, possibly with a bolt in the center. The point where the curved railing meets the straight side railings either is or is not connected by a top horizontal bar, and the gap between the vertical posts changes size. Another mistake on this site mentions the anchor design change, but also the metal walkway is made of tubular metal bars -or- flat bars that are more numerous and closer together. (00:30:15 - 01:21:00)

Full Metal Jacket mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Gomer Pyle is in the toilet with his rifle and after shooting the drill instructor, Pyle sits down on the fourth toilet seat from the back of the room. In the next shot where Pyle kills himself, he is sitting on the third toilet seat. You can see this already from the front shot of Pyle when he kills himself because there is a rise in the wall next to the third seat, which is visible through the whole scene. It is more obvious in the following shot where you can see the row of toilet seats and Pyle sitting dead on the third one. (00:43:00 - 00:43:35)
