Revealing mistake: When the Russian pod is launched, a wide shot shows the Monolith at top/right with Jupiter in the background and both the Leonov and Discovery at bottom/right with the pod nearby. Just before this shot ends, all three spacecraft vanish, leaving only Jupiter and the Monolith for a very short but obvious moment. (01:04:35)

Factual error: In the vast majority of cases, U.S. Astronauts wear the US flag on their left arm. On the rare occasion the flag is on their right arm, the flag is reversed so that the blue field remains toward the front of the person wearing it. The patch on Dr. Chandra's space suit during the launch countdown to leave Jupiter is on his right sleeve but is a left-sleeve patch. (01:37:00)

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Continuity mistake: When Dave begins to disconnect HAL's circuits, one angle shows him unlock the first, second, then third unit. Just as he's about to remove the key from the third lock, the angle changes and he's pulling the key from the second lock and then goes for the third again. We know this is consecutive time as HAL is pleading with Dave the entire time. (01:51:45)

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Revealing mistake: During the "Dawn of Man" sequence, the ape-man scenes were shot on an indoor stage with projected background images on a huge screen behind the stage. The screen itself was a highly reflective cloth. In most shots, it is quite convincing, but in several (especially when facing the aggressive, victorious group during the first fight, then again when facing the tool-using group in the last fight), the rear screen appears to be a patchwork of smaller pieces of cloth as very obvious puzzle-like shapes of varying reflectivity appear in the sky. Once you notice them, it's incredibly distracting. It was originally parallel strips, but they were VERY visible as vertical lines so they were torn into a patchwork to make lines less obvious. Star Trek (2009)
Continuity mistake: When young Spock approaches the three bullies at school, the shot from behind Spock shows he is at least as tall if not slightly taller than the other three boys. But when the shot reverses to see Spock between two of the bullies, he is instantly much shorter than they are. This isn't a matter of camera angle, but rather the choice to have young Spock positioned lower to make the bullies more intimidating - a choice the earlier angle didn't take into consideration. Watchmen (2009)
Continuity mistake: In "The Ultimate Cut" version of the film (and perhaps the original), Laurie and Dan have a discussion in a restaurant about the attack on Ozymandias. Outside, across the street we see people milling about. As the camera cuts between shots of both characters at the table, then close ups of Spectre, then of Night Owl, and back again, the positions of these people vary randomly, including a seated girl that appears instantly out of nowhere, then a man in a brown jacket walks over to join her, but instantly is seated next to her, then he's seen approaching and sitting down with her. (Timecode is for The Ultimate Cut). (01:41:10)

Watchmen (2009)
Continuity mistake: When Kovacs is being interviewed before being given the Rorshach test, a pill bottle is shown on the table in front of him. The front label of the bottle faces Kovacs when first seen, but a moment later, with nobody touching it, the bottle has turned 90-degrees so that the label faces left of Kovacs, toward the camera. (Timecode is for The Ultimate Cut). (01:50:50)

Star Trek (2009)
Continuity mistake: When Captain Robau enters the bridge of the Kelvin he is wearing his Star Fleet insignia. When he sits in his chair it is missing. It re-appears through all of his subsequent scenes. (00:01:30)

Star Trek (2009)
Continuity mistake: As Kirk is being choked by a Romulan, he says "I've got your gun", then pulls the weapon and kills the Romulan. As the Romulan falls, Kirk grabs the edge of the platform and begins to pull himself up onto it. From well above, we see the Romulan's gun is lying on the platform pointing directly away from Kirk. But when the camera angle changes to show Kirk's face with the pistol between him and the camera, the gun now points to Kirk's left (our right). (01:46:40)

Watchmen (2009)
Trivia: When Dan and Hollis hear a TV news report referencing Rorschach, they glance at the screen in time to see grainy black and white 'file footage' of Rorschach walking quickly away and to the right of the camera position, glancing back over his right shoulder momentarily. That footage is intentionally designed to precisely mimic the infamously-disputed film of Bigfoot (known as the Patterson-Gimlin film of 1967). (00:17:50)

Fast & Furious (2009)
Continuity mistake: The tractor trailer rams the rear of the Buick twice. Just before the second impact, we can see the rear bumper of the Buick is hanging well below its normal location and the sides of the car show crumpled damage. Moments later, the car spins around alongside the trailer and the rear of the car is undamaged. (00:03:45)

Fast & Furious (2009)
Continuity mistake: When Dom steers into the path of the tractor-trailer to slow it down, the actual swerving of the Buick occurs immediately in front of the tractor, just a few feet ahead of it. As the Buick stops wiggling in the next shot, we can see the tractor is far behind the Buick instantly. (00:01:30)

Fast & Furious (2009)
Continuity mistake: Moments before Letty leaps off the trailer onto the hood of the Buick, a quick shot (just as Dom begins to say "You gotta jump!") shows the hood is already damaged from a previous attempt of this same stunt, despite all the preceding shots showing no such damage. (00:05:35)

In Tranzit (2008)
Audio problem: When Pavlov is speaking with the doctor, we hear him finishing a sentence with "say, a doctor, perhaps" but his motionless mouth and jaw show he isn't speaking at all in the side shot. (00:19:00)

FlashForward (2009)
Factual error: During the chase scene near the start of the episode, the Cadillac Escalade collides with a small white Ford pickup truck head-on, sending the pickup sailing into the air, and crashing down, rolling onto its roof. The Escalade has absolutely no damage from this impact - literally not even a scratch. Clearly this is an impossible result. The front of the body would be heavily damaged and the airbags would have been activated at the high rate of speed.

Fast & Furious (2009)
Revealing mistake: Just after the Buick spins around to knock the trailer loose, we see the Buick speeding away backwards alongside the truck. If you look carefully you can see the REAR tires are steering, not the fronts. This car was modified with the body mounted backwards on the chassis because the transmission only has one reverse gear, so to get the speed and handling needed, the car had to be going 'forward' with a 'backward' body. Fast & Furious (2009)
Factual error: When Dom emerges from the tunnel driving F-Bomb, he downshifts and presumably hits the throttle, causing the car's front end to lift. The car is on dirt and wearing street tires. It's not physically possible for the car to get the traction required to transfer whatever amount of horsepower we're expected to believe the car has to the ground, so that the front will lift. The only reaction the car would have had was to spin the rear tires wildly, kicking up more dirt and likely causing the car to swerve 'furiously'. (01:35:30)

The Long Riders (1980)
Continuity mistake: When Cole and the halfbreed duel with knives, the fabric they hold in their mouths as a tether keeps flipping over, meaning the end of the cloth hangs out the left side of the mouth, then the right, and left again - several times for both actors - even tho the fight is continuous and they make no moves that would change this.

The Blues Brothers (1980)
Continuity mistake: As the Bluesmobile screeches to a halt on the sidewalk at the end of the long chase, it leaves obvious tire trails on the sidewalk. But in the very next shot (when the car breaks apart), the trails are gone. (02:12:00)

Battlestar Galactica (2003)
Battlestar Galactica (2003 Miniseries) - Part 2 - S1-E2
Continuity mistake: When Adama orders the landing pods retracted before an FTL jump during the final battle, we are shown a shot of the interior of the landing bay as the entrance quickly narrows due to the retraction (2:44:13-2:44:20). At the rate of closure, the entrance would be fully sealed within the next 10 seconds. But a full minute later (2:45:21), we see the landing pods are fully extended again. Then at 2:46:04 we see from above that the pods have reached their fully-retracted position (and the entrances are now sealed), but at 2:46:12, they are still closing and Starbuck and Apollo safely enter before the entrance is sealed.
