Reign of Fire (2002)

Corrected entry: At the start of the movie Quinn (as a child) is seen walking quite freely on a major building site. No hard hat and the freedom of a tube-line extension? Me thinks not.

Correction: The written rules may not allow it, but the reality is that things like that happen all the time on job sites. I could list dozens of crazy situations I've witnessed on job sites over the years. Not an error, sadly.

Powder (1995)

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the movie when his mother is being taken to the hospital, the passenger side headlight is not working. When the ambulance arrives at the hospital both headlights are working.

Correction: Loose wire or a broken filament would cause the light to work intermittently. Not an error.

Vanishing Point (1971)

Corrected entry: In the final sequence we get a low shot of the bulldozers with the sun as a big ball low on the horizon behind them. But in the shots from there on we don't see any shadows, even those that are meant to portray the scene directly after this sun shot.

Correction: This is not the sun. It is an illusion only Kowalski can see. It's his 'light at the end of the tunnel' per se, and he smiles upon seeing it as he then believes the light indicates he is going to be able to squeeze through unharmed. Yes, we know better, but then we aren't doped up and deprived of sleep. No mistake- just a surreal head-trip moment.

Corrected entry: When the Klingon Ship is attacked, the the colour of Klingon blood is a very bright purple. In Star Trek Generations, one of the Klingon sisters is hit in the mouth and the blood is red.

Correction: This film came first, so this is not a mistake for this film. It's a mistake for the next film that fails to maintain the continuity.

Corrected entry: In the diner scene at the beginning of the movie, the hunters come in and one of them say to the waitress, "Miller, Mabel." The other orders a Coors. However, for the rest of the scene, Miller-boy's got the Coors, and vice versa.

Correction: Not so. The waitress hands them the wrong bottles, but the next time we see the bottles, Miller guy has traded with his buddy, and has his proper Miller from then on. Simple waitress error, not a movie mistake.

Meet Joe Black (1998)

Corrected entry: In the scene where the girl meets the character that Brad Pitt plays at the very beginning of the movie they show lots of angles of them talking after he has bought her coffee. Every time that they show a different angle of them talking it shows her pouring sugar into her coffee. She pours sugar into her cup over 5 times...

Correction: Ah, love. I'm certain many women have lost track of what they were doing or saying while looking into Brad Pitt's eyes. Not an error- just cute.

Four Rooms (1995)

Corrected entry: On the poster for the movie, Madonna's hair is red. In the movie, it is blonde. Also Marisa Tomei is dressed up nicely with blonde hair on the poster. However, in the film she plays a vacant, staring brunette wearing lay-around-the-house type stuff.

Correction: Posters aren't part of the film's continuity. This non-mistake should be junked, or at least be trivia.

Star Wars (1977)

Corrected entry: After Han Solo and everybody else gets out of the Death Star a few TIE fighters go after them. During the battle between the ships if you look really closely when one of the TIE fighters swoops down you can see a green box around the ship.

Correction: If you properly adjust your television's brightness and contrast settings to those recommended on the DVD's optimizer, you won't have that problem. Not a movie error, but a user error.

The Aviator (2004)

Corrected entry: When Howard is watching 'Hell's Angels' footage in his private screening room, he holds his hands up in front of the projection and the image of several planes from the footage can be seen on his hands. The corresponding long shot shows his hands, illuminated by the projection, yet there are no corresponding shadows of his hands on the screen.

Correction: The tight shot has his hands in the projector's beam as two planes fly right-to-left across his right palm. In the long shot, his hands are actually lit by a hidden light to Howard's right (note the light source direction on his left hand in the long shot). No film objects are seen on his hands because his hands aren't in the projectors beam at this point.so no shadows either.

Aliens (1986)

Corrected entry: When Spunkmeyer is loading a weapon into the ship he lifts it up to the ship with the walking forklift. As it is pulled into the ship we see strings holding up the back end of the weapon to keep it level. These strings were not there as he carried the weapon. (00:36:30)

luchador

Correction: Not so. The cables are being used by the guys in the background that are guiding a large, black object that is suspended from heavy cables, going from left to right in the distance.

Full Metal Jacket (1987)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Pyle shoots himself, the back of his head splatters against the tiles, implying that the bullet has exited his head. No tiles were broken - one would assume that the bullet would have caused some damage. (00:45:08)

Correction: The bullet's trajectory isn't always the same exiting as it was entering. Even if the human matter does come out at the same angle as the bullet went in, the bullet may well be deflected in a wildly different direction when it strikes the last bit of bone on its way out. It may even be lodged in the ceiling, having never contacted the wall.

Aliens (1986)

Corrected entry: During the inquest of what happened to the Nostromo and its crew, Van Leuwen refers to Ripley's company ID number as NOC14472 while the data screen in the background displays NOC14672.

Correction: Either the display or Van Leuwen are wrong, but either way, the error is possible within the context of the film, with him being a human and the display being created by information supplied by then entered by a human. Not really an 'error'.

Corrected entry: In the scene with the sniper, Cowboy radios for tank support. At the end of this he says "Over and out". This is incorrect, as "over" means "message end, reply expected" and "out" means "message end, do not reply". I notice this in many war films or programmes.

Correction: Cowboy makes two statements using the radio, ending both with 'over'. When the person on the other end answers Cowboy's query, Cowboy finishes with 'Roger. Out,' which is perfectly acceptable use of terminology ('roger' is confirming that he understood, 'out' ends the conversation). He never says 'over and out' anywhere in the scene.

Vanishing Point (1971)

Corrected entry: At the end of the movie just before the Challenger hits the Bulldozers, the right rear wheel on the Challenger changes from a factory Dodge rally wheel to a Cragar S/S wheel.

Correction: I went through the last five minutes of the film before the collision, and found no such shot. In the absence of a clear screenshot or exact time index, I'd say this one isn't true. All three of the Challengers were brand new at the time - all wore factory Rallyes.

Vanishing Point (1971)

Corrected entry: There are several versions of this film, in one when Kowolski stops at the desert house to get drugs he put the car into park with a column shift yet there are numerous scenes of him shifting the 4spd pistol grip throughout the film.

Correction: To my knowledge, there are only two versions of tyhe film (ignoring TV-censored edits). Both are included on the official DVD - the US version and the longer UK version. I checked both and they use the same footage for this shot and in it, Kowalski can be seen putting some real force into throwing the manual shifter forward to put the car in 1st gear (a safety technique in case the parking brake slips). No column shifter is evident (and neither type can be seen from the distant, rear-quarter camera angle). No error here.

Corrected entry: When John says he lives "off the grid," he drops his Budweiser bottle off the bridge and it drops into the water sideways, but in the next shot it lands straight down. I have experimented with this myself and a falling bottle with liquid in it will not right itself as it falls.

Correction: The bottle is dropped upright, bounces off the vertical bridge support and continues to the water nearly on its side. True- in the air, it will not right itself. But on impact with the water, the heavier end of the bottle (the bottom) will sink first, and the underwater shot shows the bottle rightly sinking upright.

Corrected entry: In various scenes, you can see the seal of the President on the right side of the plane. But when snake is walking by the wreckage, the seal is now gone.

Correction: When Snake walks past the wreckage, the portion of the plane's nose that has the seal is not visible at any time, but there is the suggestion of a round blueish insignia below and left of the cockpit fire. We can presume this is the seal.

Bullitt (1968)

Corrected entry: The gunman is on the back seat when the Charger crashes, but in the next shot (showing the bodies burning) he is in the front passenger seat.

Correction: The Charger has crashed and flipped, and the guy was not wearing a seat belt. He could be anywhere after all that.

Bullitt (1968)

Corrected entry: In the leadup to the chase there is a large van and at least one other vehicle between the two cars. After cutting back from a view of the hitman, these vehicles have gone and have been replaced by a white estate with three people in it which is between the two cars. After cutting back again there are no vehicles between the cars. There is a white car to the right of the Mustang, but it only contains the driver.

Correction: These scenes are not necessarily shown in 'real time', so the cuts between, where they show the faces of the bad guys, are there to suggest a bit of time is passing as they follow Bullitt.

Bullitt (1968)

Corrected entry: With the camera inside the Mustang we hear the tyres squeal when the Charger makes a left at the bottom of the hills. When the Mustang takes the same corner, no squeal. Surely we would have heard the Mustang's tyres squeal too - especially being closer to the camera.

Correction: Not true. The Mustang begins to squeal its tires just a moment before the camera cuts to another location and view of the Charger approaching, but the squeal is definitely there, good and loud.
