Revealing mistake: Mad Buck lands on Higgins' beach croquet course, and right on him and Agatha. The two are replaced by obvious stunt people, though. Higgins' definitely has more hair than John Hillerman, and the woman is younger than silver fox Gillian Dobb. (00:07:20)
Continuity mistake: Higgins and Agatha fall down in the longshot facing the same direction, but when Mad Buck sits up and puffs, they are facing each other instead. (00:07:30)
Audio problem: Mrs Joan Gibson, shoes in hand, is waiting for Magnum after his surfski session. He tells her "I'll be honest with ya" and there's a cut. The audio quality in this second part of the conversation takes a dive for the first seconds before finally adjusting. (00:12:25)
Continuity mistake: Magnum stares wide eyed at Buck and his target practice in the bathtub. In the shot of the room, you can see in the head area of the target already a soot mark where the extra hole will open later - and there is no trace of it in the opening close-up. (00:14:55)
Continuity mistake: After Higgins finally agrees to Magnum's three month deal, when it cuts to the Ferrari driving down the street, the car easily drives forward into the huge space between two other parked vehicles, but in the next shot the blue vehicle parked behind the Ferrari is now much closer (note the parking meter), which would have made the Ferrari's previous maneuver impossible. Revealing mistake: Magnum just set foot in the bar, and finds TC and Rick there. Buck puts the crutch against the back of the couch, but it won't stay still, so Darren McGavin tries again. This time, a stagehand just out of frame catches it and draws it out of frame. (00:19:40)
Continuity mistake: In the barroom brawl, Rick foolishly attacks the huge dude. He backhands him into oblivion, sending him falling back-first off frame. Rick crashes on the stools belly-first though, and the stools were at very short distance, not exactly room for him to turn another time and fall as shown. (00:22:55)
Revealing mistake: When he trades some punches with the big guy in the bar in a fast paced sequence, back to the camera, "TC" is a good 20 pounds lighter. (00:23:05)
Continuity mistake: When Magnum takes the Audi to go after Buck, the Audi's rearview mirror disappears and reappears during the car chase. (00:33:00)
Other mistake: Magnum needs to stop Buck, and asks Higgins for the keys to the Audi. Higgins just happens to have the keys in his pocket, which makes no sense, since he keeps them in a drawer inside the study, and can't just wander about all day with all the keys to all of Robin Masters' vehicles inside his pants. Visible crew/equipment: Gibson crashed the Ferrari into the goat fence. Magnum stops the Audi and walks out to help him. Inside the passenger side mirror, the hand of the cameraman can be spotted. (00:34:55)
Continuity mistake: Leaving the hospital magnum has a black eye on his right side. When he gets home it's on his left eye.
Revealing mistake: At the King Kamehameha Club, while Joan Gibson is sitting at the table, there are at least two wires crudely attached to the bottom of the tablecloth preventing the wind from blowing it upward, and disrupting filming of the outdoor scene.
