Continuity mistake: Magnum is saved, and it's time for the others to concern themselves with the assailant. Rick dives in a close-up to look for him. The mask is really close to him all of a sudden, and in a different position (practically touching Magnum's chest) in next shot. (00:23:20)
Continuity mistake: On his way to Rick's boat, Magnum stops to talk with the witch lady. A very short drive and he's then in front of the boat. Rick is in the background and he starts moving and preparing to greet him, but in the close-up it's as if he has been chilling all along and only then decides to be active. (00:21:20)
Continuity mistake: Marion Hammond unlocks the boat door and finds a mess. Between the establishing shot of the interior and the one with Tom Selleck inside, the towel on the ladder moved, and a diary tossed on top of the typewriter flipped without anyone coming anywhere near. (00:10:05)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the episode, the titular character makes his way towards the club. He glances at the Ferrari parked there, its nose towards the club. A couple minutes later, Magnum drags him out of the club (no valets involved), and the Ferrari now is parked facing the opposite direction and with a total change of natural lights. (00:03:10 - 00:05:20)
Continuity mistake: When the three henchman are knocked out by Billy on the chopper, they land in distinct positions (the two rightmost ones are facing right), that change when Billy gets out of the helicopter. (00:42:40)
Continuity mistake: The prostitute looks at Magnum trashing the nunchaku guy hiding behind the corner. Her hand is above the leaves of the potted plant, then under it in the last shot. (00:25:25)
Continuity mistake: Billy Joe "smooths things out" with the non-hooker and Magnum gets slapped in return. The cocktail umbrella on the counter goes from straight to folded between shots. (00:21:30)
Continuity mistake: Outside the King Kamehameha Club, Magnum knocks down Billy Joe Bob with a punch, and knocks away his cowboy hat too. The hat is flat on the ground when he is getting up, but was toppled over under the different camera angle. (00:05:45)
Continuity mistake: In pure movie fashion, a runner is chased by a big Sedan and she keeps on the road instead of swerving to the side and hide behind the many trees and posts. She does change lane at one point, though; when she does that, notice that in the closer view she is passing by a tree that is not next to a lamp post like in the wider angle. (00:02:15)
Continuity mistake: In the POV shot, when the car rams the jogger it sends a trash bin flying across, which is completely absent during the side view of the stuntwoman being tossed in the water. (00:02:20)
Continuity mistake: When Rick is helping Magnum after the swim session, he's putting the sock on him twice (although he did not finish the first) and the shoes on the ground are in radically different positions between shots. (00:39:45)
Continuity mistake: When Magnum protests that TC is "killing him" with his too much vigorous toweling, TC is wearing his baseball hat backwards, while it's worn normally in the previous and following shot. (00:39:20)
Continuity mistake: Magnum leaves the first checkpoint with the number on his back that covers entirely TC's sponsor logo - later in the race though he wears a different race bib that puts the logo on display. (00:40:15)
Continuity mistake: At the checkpoint after the swimming section, Magnum has to get out of the speedo and put on dry running shorts. He does so, but in the shot where Rick is powdering his feet and putting socks on him, he's still wearing the wet speedo. (00:39:40)
Continuity mistake: Barbara Terranova is biking behind Magnum when the golden teeth man and his buddy stop her. She screams "Magnum!"; look at the sweatstain on his back. When a few moments later he runs in to beat up the aggressors, the stain got smaller, or rather, oddly narrower, not being as wide on the neck of the shirt as before. (00:23:00)
Continuity mistake: TC is trying to convince Magnum at the beginning of the episode, and tells him "Bet you can do it." Ten seconds pass and there's a new reaction shot on him laughing at Rick's little Higgins impression. Thing is, those few seconds a large ship that was present in all the other previous shots disappeared at the horizon all of a sudden, and there are fresh slipstreams showing that it is a much earlier or later take. Continuity mistake: Babs tells Roger "He's a private investigator" pointing at him with the same hand she had on his shoulder, and that is still there in the reverse shot. (00:31:40)
Continuity mistake: Babs finally produces a picture with Roger. In close-up, Magnum is holding it by the corner, while he had his hand at the bottom in the first shot. (00:25:20)
Continuity mistake: The morning after TC and Babs sealed the deal involving him, Magnum goes out for a swim. In the first shot, when he turns around to tell Babs that he's not doing her ridiculous knee to chest routine, the towel around his neck shows no half-squares. In the rest of the scene, the towel is folded so that there's half a square easily recognizable. (00:20:00)
Continuity mistake: Magnum tells Barbara to go to the bathroom leaning against the windshield; his hands is turned in different directions depending on the camera angle. (00:13:30)
