Doctor Who

The Day of the Doctor - S7-E16

Continuity mistake: When Clara asks Kate why her two assistants have entered the Black Archive, she rests her left arm on the sill of the window of the containment unit she's inside. In the next shot, when Clara slowly turns to look at "Kate", who's just revealed she's actually a Zygon imposter, her left arm is by her side. (00:39:55)

The Day of the Doctor - S7-E16

Continuity mistake: When the Doctors figure out how to disintegrate the door, when Eleven takes out his screwdriver to check the calculation and announces that it's complete, Ten's right hand, with which he's holding his screwdriver, goes from raised at roughly shoulder height to much lower between shots. The Day of the Doctor - S7-E16

Continuity mistake: After Clara enters the Doctors' cell, and they're talking about how the door was unlocked, shots inside the cell show the door about halfway closed, while a shot from outside looking into the cell shows the door wide open. (00:45:25)

The Day of the Doctor - S7-E16

Continuity mistake: When Osgood discovers Kate trussed up where the Zygons left her, when she pulls off the sheet covering her Kate's head is completely covered by a membrane-like mass. Moments later, after Osgood has begun working at Kate's hands to get her free, in the next shot with Kate's head in it her face is now uncovered. (00:46:15)

The Day of the Doctor - S7-E16

Continuity mistake: After the 10th Doctor marries Elizabeth, they kiss. While they are kissing, the collar on his jacket gets turned up, from her point of view. The camera then switches to look at her from over his shoulder, then back, and now the collar is straight. (00:49:40)

The Day of the Doctor - S7-E16

Continuity mistake: During the scene in the barn where the three Doctors have their hands on the button, when Eleven notices Clara crying and asks her what's wrong, the Doctors' hands go from stacked on top of each other on the button to only touching it with their fingers. (01:02:40)

The Day of the Doctor - S7-E16

Continuity mistake: When the three Doctors have all just come up with a plan to stop Gallifrey being destroyed, the War Doctor shouts "Thank you, Bad Wolf Girl!" At this moment, standing in front of "Rose", the Tenth Doctor's hair is spiked up and messy, but then immediately in the next shot, after the Moment has disappeared, when he questions what the War Doctor just said, his hair is flat and neat again. The Day of the Doctor - S7-E16

Continuity mistake: In the scene at the end in the Undergallery, when Ten walks up to the Gallifrey Falls painting, wondering what its actual title is, the door of his TARDIS, visible behind him, is open. In the next shot with the TARDISes visible, the door is shut. (01:10:55)

The Day of the Doctor - S7-E16

Deliberate mistake: Looking closely at the floor of Eleven's console room reveals that the part of the floor around the console facing the door has been discreetly raised up, which it isn't in any other appearance of this console room, so that Clara can ride her motorcyle inside it without going down two steps. This wasn't in any previous episode and is gone in the next one.

Suggested correction: The Tardis has constantly shown it can change its internal structure to fit its needs or desires.

The Day of the Doctor - S7-E16

Other mistake: Billie Piper is listed as playing "Rose" in the closing credits. Rose was certainly mentioned, yes, but Piper in this episode was actually sentient superweapon the Moment, who merely took Rose's form, and was in all other respects nothing like the former companion.

The Day of the Doctor - S7-E16

Plot hole: Among the various contents of the Black Archive are visible several objects that shouldn't be there, because it is impossible for U.N.I.T. to have acquired them. In particular: A detonation pack from "Planet of the Ood", set in the 42nd century, a few thousand years in the future. The Supreme Dalek's shell from "The Stolen Earth"/"Journey's End" - it was shot and killed by Jack Harkness, destroying the shell. The restraint chair from "The End of Time", last seen on the Vinvocci's ship. The makeshift sonic screwdriver built by the alternate Amy from "The Girl Who Waited", since that version of Amy was wiped from existence. A different explosive carried by Gregor Van Baalen in "Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS", which is both set in the future and involves a complicated situation in which the events ended up technically not happening.

The Time of the Doctor - S7-E17

Continuity mistake: When the Doctor teleports onto the Dalek ship and announces himself, he's holding up a broken Dalek eyestalk in the wide shot as he throws off his hood, but then in the close-up he throws the hood off again, with his arm lowered. Then he raises his arm again, with his arm bent at the elbow, only for a wide shot to have his arm sticking straight up, with his elbow straight. (00:00:55)

The Time of the Doctor - S7-E17

Continuity mistake: After the Doctor yells at Handles for putting him on the Dalek ship, the Doctor grabs him and carries the head with his right arm, then switches the head to his left arm. However, in the close-up as the Doctor asks, "What does this question mean?" we see Handles is back on the Doctor's right arm, but next shot as the phone rings, Handles is carried on the Doctor's left arm again. The Time of the Doctor - S7-E17

Other mistake: While looking around the Doctor's room, one of the children's drawings Clara passes by has the TARDIS in it... when the TARDIS has been absent for all of the 300 years the Doctor has spent on Trenzalore up to this point, so none of the pictures existing now should have the time machine present. And it's not a particularly weathered picture, either, suggesting it can't be from the beginning of his stay on the planet. (00:31:47)

Deep Breath - S8-E1

Continuity mistake: Vastra hands the police inspector a bag of sonic lanterns, to be used to contain the T. Rex. In the next shot, looking at the TARDIS on the riverbank, he's not holding it. (00:02:15)

Deep Breath - S8-E1

Continuity mistake: After the Doctor walks up to Vastra and Jenny and calls them "the green one and the not-green one", he gestures with his right hand in the direction of the TARDIS. In a wide shot immediately following, he gestures again. (00:03:45)

She asks for water and he places the bucket of mop water on the table in front of Clara. They have a conversation about the water and at the end of the conversation Clara looks at her newspaper and the bucket has disappeared from the table in front of her. Neither of them moved it. Trivia: "Torchwood" is an anagram for Doctor Who. Russell T Davies came up with it during the filming of Series 1 to label the tapes in order to prevent theft and potential leakage, and decided to use the name in the show proper.

More trivia for Doctor Who

Season 1 generally

Question: 1. Why was Rose not allowed to touch her past self without creating a paradox and causing those creatures to appear and eat everyone, but Amy was allowed to touch her younger self without any repercussions? 2. Why was Rose able to have the time vortex in her head for a few minutes and it only knocked her unconscious whereas the Doctor had it inside him for about 30 seconds and it basically killed him and caused his regeneration?

strikeand

Chosen answer: 1) When Stephen Moffat took over he ignored a lot of what had been developed before (there is not in-universe answer). 2) It would have killed Rose, so the Doctor absorbed the energy. His body regenerated before the energy could do a significant amount of damage that would prevent regeneration.
