Character mistake: The pilot says to his wife that the flying saucer was cigar-shaped. The actual shape was more like two dishes attached together. (00:04:45 - 00:12:20)
Character mistake: When Morpheus is explaining to Neo the reason the Matrix exists, he states that a human being gives off 25,000 BTUs of body heat to help power it - this is just not true. Even human beings that are running a marathon can't give off that much heat, and the humans in the Matrix are all lying down, not moving.
Character mistake: Gru doesn't recognize Nefario at the record shop, despite meeting him at Villain Con in the Minions movie. And given the fact that he can recognize all of his Minions without even asking them who they are, he should definitely remember seeing Dr. Nefario.
Character mistake: When Bower is banging on Payton's hyper sleep chamber from the outside it says Payton, but when it cuts to looking from inside out, it says Bower.
Character mistake: During the "Money by the Pound" song, towards the end, Doc sings, "Can't you hear that jingle jangle sound." Hoagie (Red Buttons) starts mouthing the "Can't" before he catches himself.
Character mistake: Chapman is wearing a gold oak leaf cluster insignia on his uniform which is the rank of Major. At the initial briefing he is introduced as Major, which is correct. Throughout the movie he is referred to as Captain, which is wrong.
Suggested correction: He is referred to by his name "Chapman"; it sounds close to "Captain."
Character mistake: In the obituary for Clark Kent, the opening couple of paragraphs are repeated further down the article.
Character mistake: When Nicolas returns from Mexico and goes to the gate of his house, he sees a sign that says his house is being sold at public auction. The word "foreclosure" is spelled incorrectly. It is spelled "forclosure."
Character mistake: After Gru tucks the girls in for the night, Dr. Nefario tells him that there are 48 hours until the rocket's scheduled launch. The rocket launch, then, should have taken place at night, around the time the girls go to bed, two days later. The rocket, however, launches during daylight hours.
Character mistake: In the scene where the dentist is doing a root canal, Bloat says "rubber dam and clamp installed?" and another fish replies "yes", but when the picture goes back to the dentist and patient you can plainly see that there is not a rubber dam on the patient. A rubber dam is a large piece of latex attached to a metal frame, to keep water from the dental handpiece from going into the patient's mouth. Although all of the dental jargon in the film is precisely accurate, this device would have been very noticeable.
Character mistake: While pitching his shrinking machine to NASA Szalinski claims that reducing the size of a rocket's payload would result in "staggering" savings in the fuel required at takeoff. However, he makes it clear that his machine works by reducing the space between atoms, meaning that the shrunken object weighs the same as the original. Weight is the critical factor in calculating fuel consumption, not size. Anyone at NASA would pick up on that instantly.
Character mistake: Shortly before the drone chase scene Cooper tells Murph to put the truck in second gear. She pushes the gear lever forward, however on the 6-speed manual in the Ram 3500 second gear is in the back row.
Character mistake: When looking at the various items in his safe deposit box, one of the passports has the name Henry Reed. However the serial at the bottom of the passport is mistyped as REED/HENTY. (00:41:25)
Character mistake: As Lex is studying the recording of when Superman's body vanishes, he says "A 19 second black out at 3:47 AM." But the clock on the video shows it goes from 3:47:05 when the blackout starts, to 3:47:26. The blackout was 21 seconds, not 19. (00:45:55)
Character mistake: When Mick arrives at walkabout hotel, Nugget introduces himself to Mick as if they have never met before. Yet in the first movie, Nugget is asking how Mick is getting on in New York. It may be just a case of over familiarity by Nugget but it doesn't make a lot of sense.
Suggested correction: It's quite possible that they haven't met, but Nugget's heard about Mick, e.g. from the people in the bar, stories, etc. Having no doubt heard so much about Mick, Nugget probably feels like he knows him, at least enough to ask how he's getting on.
I think it was just a scene to introduce the audience to Nugget. I'm pretty sure that if Nugget was a regular in that bar, then he must have known Mick.
Character mistake: In her first walk through the city with Dr. Ido, after feeding the dog her sandwich, Alita takes a flyer and reads it. Between the lines that read "Wanted" and "Murder" there is a line in Spanish that says "Querido para el asesinato." It should say "Querido por el asesinato".
Character mistake: The name on the sign of the pub/private members club of the Manchester United fans is spelt incorrectly: It should read "The Feisty Goat" but Feisty is misspelled on the sign as "Fiesty" instead.
Character mistake: When Curtin shoots Dobbs, the two shots are close together in time. When Curtin explains it he says that he was shot and falls. Then Dobbs shoots him again. This takes time but the shots were fired very quickly.
Character mistake: There was no chance of Will and Lori knowing what's happening with Mark in the house. Neither him nor anyone else called them. So what made them rush home with van, after they've been casually driving in their previous scene?
Character mistake: Hellboy's stone hand is on the wrong side when he's fighting the first giant. (00:32:50)
