Plot hole: The clock at customs signals it is 9:05 AM when Lt. Dan Cook arrives at Hickam. Magnum narrowly misses him. Then he goes back home...and it is night. There is no reason why Magnum would have spent the whole day out of the house, especially never checking on his fraternal buddy he was supposed to chaperone to begin with.

Revealing mistake: The bad guys open fire on Magnum during the car chase, and Magnum shifts gears. Is it Magnum though? The hand in close-up not only does not appear to be Selleck's (it appears to have virtually no hair as opposed to Selleck's that can be seen at the beginning setting the cassette player), but is also wearing the team ring upside down compared to how Magnum and everyone does. Continuity mistake: Magnum is trying to get information from Ensign Healy. Throughout their conversation (in continuity and without breaks), they are in different parts of the pier at the various cuts. They go from 50 to 37 at the first cut, for instance, or when Healy says to Magnum he's "reaching", they are back at the beginning of the walk as you can tell by the boats. (00:29:30)

Revealing mistake: When Magnum passes his gun to his fellow soldier, it cuts to a shot of the heli in the air that is mirrored - easy to spot by "Marines" written backwards.

However, footage in the city part towards the end show Magnum wearing a flower shirt instead of his blue polo, and earlier (Rober Loggia's credits) the person that steps on the gas is wearing jeans, while the first thing Magnum has to do when he arrives at the base is putting some pants on. Continuity mistake: Magnum begins the episode coming out of the water. The hair on his forehead is frizzy as he stretches his shoulder with the old war wound. He begins his run, cut to a new shot with his hair now slicked back. When he reminisces about 'Nam later, his hair returns in a frizzy bang, and by the time he's calling Higgins a yo-yo, it is almost dry. (00:00:30)

Other mistake: During the Vietnam flashback that Magnum gets when he looks at Lieutenant Dan Cook's ring, there is a shot of the helicopter in between the first two radio calls TC does. In that shot, the footage is obviously flipped, with the writing "MARINES" appearing as "ƧƎИIЯAM" (00:45:00)

Revealing mistake: After his car is destroyed, one of the two people who were chasing Magnum emerges from the wreckage and hikes to the very same spot Magnum was in.The road though cleaned itself; no more tracks in the dirt nor the skidmarks from Magnum's abrupt maneuver. (00:36:50)

Continuity mistake: When the drunk Alice Cook hugs Magnum at the airport, behind her, slightly out of focus, there's a man in a grey suit with a yellow shirt passing by. She staggers back, and a couple is passing; he wears a brown suit with a light blue shirt. The couple passes by again, same direction and origin point, when she has a giggling fit at "Are you my boyfriend?", and the man with yellow shirt follows just a second after. (00:20:20)

Continuity mistake: When Magnum's friend is dying by the fence, he clings to it; in the first shot, his hand is holding clean chainlinks, in the extreme close-up of his hands, his fingers are going through multiple vines entangled with the fence. (00:11:15)

Continuity mistake: Magnum feeds a parrot that is turned right in close-ups and turned left in the longshots. (00:30:40)
Continuity mistake: In the first minutes, Rick is talking up the properties of some special fruit juice. He passes the glass to Magnum, who takes a sip from a slightly fuller glass than he was given, and passes back to him a glass with a level of juice that drops dramatically between shots, and keeps doing so throughout the entire scene. Other mistake: At the end of the episode, Zeus and Apollo are in a cage, and it is explained that it's because of sir Algernon's presence, due to Magnum's decision. It makes for a humorous finale, but does not make any sense; it's sir Algernon that has to be isolated for the 4 months quarantine, and an earlier segment implied that a fence had been built for him, as he needed to be limited in movements to avoid contact with the ocean and everyone on the estate.
The Ugliest Dog in Hawaii - S1-E8
Character mistake: Steve gets on Rick's truck and tells him "Just follow that car." However, when we see what happens through TC's chopper, the van is in the lead, and the car is the one following - probably it was footage shot with the intention to reveal Magnum's plan earlier. (00:42:00 - 00:42:40)
Other mistake: Erin at the beginning of the episode records her acting using a camera on a fixed support. She gets interrupted once. She resumes then. The camera angle is different, and then simply changes (as it's made clear by Magnum rewatching later the actual tape) without anyone else operating the camera.
Factual error: When Magnum looks at the collection of tapes and books from Erin, the shelves are stocked entirely with tapes marked L-250, L-500, L-750. A huge collection...for Betamax, but Erin's VHR player is a VHS, as shown by the logo in close-ups. And in fact, Magnum to watch her movie puts in close-up a T-120 tape in the machine, which is the proper format. (00:21:15)
Plot hole: Towards the beginning of the episode a peculiar arrangement is presented; Magnum has to share the guest house with two stewardesses, Mandy and Suzie. The night of the party, they both go for a swim. Mandy is involved in a shooting, and following scenes include her resting at the guest house. Suzie is never heard from since. She does not have a place to sleep; it is made clear that the main house has not been arranged yet for that purpose, the Brigadier and his escort have to leave first. She is not there in the morning. She just vanishes.
