Continuity mistake: When a drunk Rick flops on the couch, his belly has a big wet patch, but the shirt was fine when he poked Higgins with his finger disputing the command of the operation. (00:28:15)
Revealing mistake: The sailor that Magnum KOs when the alarm rings goes down in the fakest way possible. With a long delay and cushioning his fall with his arms way early. (00:17:45)
Continuity mistake: Magnum is catching his breath while the guy who was having the better of him has to stop being held at gunpoint. He is touching the guy's arm in the first shot, but has his hand on the armrest of the chair in the next. (00:17:05)
Continuity mistake: In the close-ups of Jeannie's hand with the face-down card dealt by Mr. Matt Thompson, you can spot to the left of the cards her handbag, which is way far away in the shots of the table. (00:10:30)
Continuity mistake: Rick looks at Magnum funny when Jeannie Lowry says he'd look devilishly handsome in a tux. He has cards in hand, but the next shot starts with no cards anywhere near (TC is just then shuffling the deck), and more discontinuities happen during the convo later. (00:04:30)
Continuity mistake: Magnum joins TC and Rick that are playing poker with a mysterious blonde. As he gets through the door, the towel around his neck has the left side pulled very much up, above the level of the 44 symbol on the tanktop. The towel drops lower (more balanced) in other shots, going back and forth between the two levels. (00:04:00)
Continuity mistake: The man running down the escalator runs past the same couple (old lady with blue dress and man with pale yellow shirt) twice. Similarly, when the policemen reach the top and shout "Halt", the same woman with a hat reaches the top too in two separate shots. And, in the same shot, in the foreground coming up from the escalator there's a man with a white and blue striped polo, who was visible earlier in the policemen's way when Mike Vejar's director credit popped up, on the way to get down the same escalator. Continuity mistake: Opening scene, recycled extras. Look no further than the blonde woman in a maroon stewardess uniform, walking to the left of the screen in the suspicious person POV, and simultaneously in the background behind him. Or the woman with long curly hair wearing a brown top and long beige skirt. (00:01:50)
Character mistake: Higgins' anecdote inflicted on Rick says that In Kwangju. In '49, Corky Boswick got kicked in the head during "Sunday of the Queen's birthday party", but at the time, George VI was still King, and would be until February of 1952. (00:42:25)
Continuity mistake: Magnum and his two friends are watching the team practice. In the establishing shot they are fully in the sun, and the whole section of the stadium does not have a bit of shade. Next time they are displayed, the direct sunlight is gone. (00:06:20)
Continuity mistake: In the tunnel, TC says "Bye!" to Magnum who tries to involve him in the finale; the number 33 player is both behind TC and behind Magnum. (00:44:25)
Continuity mistake: The policeman gives Dorsey a picture of the crazy fan. Dorsey picks it up from the left side, but he's holding it by the bottom in the next shot. (00:39:10)
Continuity mistake: The security guard spots the obsessive fan running through the seats. He shouts at him, and in the next shot the guy is running a couple rows lower than he was in the first shot. (00:37:45)
Other mistake: Someone shoots in the dark at the trio in front of the sandal king's house. Former Navy Seal Magnum must have read the script and know that the assailant was only gonna shoot once, because he jumps up from his sitting position and just stands there looking pensive at the bushes like a complete fool, taking no cover, nor trying to protect his client while the wife is dead. (00:33:20)
Other mistake: Mrs. Greeley mentions the sandal king's wife putting the hooks on the quarterback "yesterday at the party." That would mean that every previous event - Magnum showing up to the first day of practice, going back to the estate where Higgins annoys him, being 'hired' to practise with the team - all happens in a day. TC actually mentions the practice "the other day" which contradicts it explicitly, but even without that, all of it is patently absurd - including TC showing up independently from him. (00:19:10 - 00:30:30)
Continuity mistake: At Mrs. Greeley's, Magnum says "He's not in bed", while she has both hands around her glass. She replies, icy "Wanna make a bet?" and it's just one hand. (00:30:15)
Visible crew/equipment: Higgins is walking the lads through the now oh so empty estate; when the camera pans all the way back, to the right of the frame you can see there is in fact someone else in there; it is the animal trainer who gives instructions to the dobermanns. (00:26:50)
Continuity mistake: In the hot tub scene, Mrs. Greeley blackmails Dorsey in return for favours; during the conversation, David Wilson's mouth position/facial expressions transition from shot to shot with a spotty continuity all the way through. (00:25:00)
Continuity mistake: When Dorsey pops pills in the tub with Magnum, he puts the bottle to the left, off frame. Mrs. Greeley arrives, and now the pills are on the opposite side, between Magnum and him. (00:24:25)
Continuity mistake: In the locker room, Dorsey gets his cortisone shot to the shoulder while he talks to Magnum. His hand is between the legs under one angle, on top of the thigh in the reverse shot. (00:10:10)
