Iron Man 2 (2010)

Corrected entry: When Natalie asks Tony for his fingerprint when handing over the company to Pepper, Tony gives his fingerprint while still wearing his boxing glove.

Correction: Throughout the scene, it can be seen that Tony's gloves leave the tips of his fingers and thumbs exposed.

Corrected entry: In the year 2015, Marty's daughter Marlene is telling Lorraine that the reason the scenery channel isn't working is because the scene screen repairman called Marty a chicken and Marty threw him out of the house. Why would the repairman call Marty a chicken? Nothing at all makes sense about this, what could possibly provoke a repairman to call the owner of the home he was working in a chicken ? Even if Marty was rude to him, it would make more sense to just call him a jerk, not a chicken. Calling him a chicken likely means he was goading him into a fight and there is no logical reason for some repairman to want to pick a fight with someone he is servicing.

calidude

Correction: As we have no information regarding what happened, it is somewhat absurd to attempt to base a mistake on personal speculation regarding a trivial conversation that took place off-screen. It is unlikely, yes, that a repairman would call a client a chicken, however, as we are not made aware of any other details of the incident, it certainly cannot be said that it could not have happened.

Tailkinker

Correction: It is a play on Marty's peculiar personality trait of being easily provoked to take unreasonable action when being called a chicken. A habit he cannot kick and probably has become known for ever since breaking his wrist in 1985. We even see Needles push his buttons with it. Apparently, the repair man tried the same.

Corrected entry: Near the beginning of the film, Lupin grabs Harry and asks him "What creature sat in the tank the first time Harry Potter came into my office?" to which Harry replies "A Grindylow." However, from the film's perspective, Harry never saw the Grindylow because that particular scene was omitted.

Jeimi

Correction: At some point, Harry would have gone into Lupin's office for the first time. Just because that scene wasn't directly represented in the film, it doesn't mean that it didn't occur off-screen.

Corrected entry: Marty gives Goldie Wilson the idea to run for mayor before Goldie thought of it himself. Suppose now that Goldie runs for mayor before he is supposed to and loses the election and it ends his political career, thereby disrupting history.

calidude

Correction: So what? Marty changes lots of things during his time in the past, ranging from the very minor - Twin Pines Mall becoming Lone Pine Mall - to the really quite major - his parents' entire personalities and futures. History's already disrupted to a significant degree, one more thing, particularly one that, as far as we know, didn't happen, is hardly mistake-worthy.

Tailkinker

"You're not thinking fourth dimensionally!" We know for a fact that Goldie still becomes Mayor as when Doc and Marty travel to 2015, Goldie Wilson III does an ad for Wilson hover conversion systems and states "When my Grandpa was Mayor of Hill Valley..." So whether or not he won or lost the first time is irrelevant, he eventually becomes Mayor as does his son.

Corrected entry: When Scott and Stacey are at the park. Stacey says "Time heals all wounds little brother" but Stacey is 18 and Scott is 22.

Correction: Stacey is repeatedly shown to be far more mature than her brother. While, chronologically speaking, she is the younger of the pair, it's hardly unreasonable, given his child-like nature, that she would jokingly refer to him as her little brother.

Predators (2010)

Correction: As you say yourself, Royce makes this observation pretty early in the film. While the sun hasn't visibly moved in the time period between their arrival on-planet and him noticing, the film continues for a considerably longer period of time after that, long enough for the sun to eventually set. The planet simply has a longer rotational period than Earth - it's not actually tide-locked.

2012 (2009)

Corrected entry: All throughout the movie the 1 phone you see most of the government officials using was in fact the iPhone 4! Now if you do the research you will find out that the iPhone 4 wasn't even released to the public yet. Also Apple denied even the phones existence.

shelbyga

Correction: So, we have a film set in 2012 where you can see government officials using a model of phone that was released in 2010. Hardly seems like a mistake to me. More importantly, given how tightly Apple locks down its releases, and that the movie would have been filmed before the iphone 3GS was even released, most likely they're just using a phone which happens to resemble the iphone 4.

Tailkinker

Possibly a Sony phone (because Sony made 2012, and they usually add all their products into their movies).

Corrected entry: When Andy finally leaves Shawshank and leaves through the tunnel emerging after crawling through near half a mile of horrible slimy stuff he does not have the case with him containing the exchanged documents he switched when the warden opened the safe and when he switched bibles in the office. But we see him later after the escape in a town handing over documents which confirm his new identity.

missblue8

Correction: Andy's dragging a plastic bag filled with his stuff behind him, using a rope tied to his leg, so that it doesn't get in his way. It can be seen throughout his escape, as he climbs down from the tunnel leading from his cell, coming out of the sewer pipe immediately behind him, and is visible floating behind him as he runs through the river.

Avatar (2009)

Corrected entry: In the Extended Edition of the movie, we have Tsu'tey's death scene in full near the end. Jake comes in and the whole scene plays out. but Jake is in his Avatar body. Not moments before, we saw the entire trailer holding the pods in which Jake connected with his Avatar body wrecked by Colonel Miles. So how did he reconnect with his Avatar body after that? It couldn't have been with that trailer, nor could it have been at the original base considering the company should still be inhabiting it and the scene seems to take place at most a few hours after wards.

Correction: The trailer was damaged, sure, but it wasn't totally wrecked - it still appeared to be, for the most part, structurally intact, for example. Slap a quick patch on the windows and any leaks (any installation designed to work in a toxic atmosphere is going to have repair equipment readily to hand) and it's not remotely unreasonable that at least one of the interface pods would still be functional.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Corrected entry: During the interrogation scene, right after Gordon leaves, the lights turn on. But, a split second before batman slams the joker's face into the table, the joker squints his eyes. It's possible that Heath Ledger could've done it because he knows that his head is going to be slammed down so he makes a face to prepare for it.

Correction: Well, you try sitting in a really dark room and then have somebody switch on the lights. You'd squint - everybody squints. It's a natural reflex under those circumstances.

Sherlock (2010)

The Great Game - S1-E3

Corrected entry: At the Connie Prince case, when Sherlock and Watson are in the restaurant watching the news on TV about the death of Connie Prince, on the screen appears that Connie was 48 years old. But in the next scene, at the morgue, Lestrade reads from the "patient" record that she was 54. (00:38:30)

ovidiusmd

Correction: Not at all unheard of for a celebrity, or indeed anybody else, to lie about their age. The media reports give the age she claims, her medical records show her true age.

Moon (2009)

Corrected entry: What is the probability that both would happen: a. Harvest machine was ruined by first Sam. b. New Sam somehow arises from bed before it was meant/programmed to - accidentally eavesdropping on the same debate, which directly triggers his suspicion and indirectly forms the base for the whole movie. (I assume that the preceding Sam clones didn't destroy harvest machines, because if they did, there is no reason for central sending the "Aliza" rescue team.)

Correction: Films often rely on relatively implausible events to kick-start their narrative. These are not generally considered to be mistakes, except in very specific circumstances, which your question doesn't match.

Forbidden Planet (1956)

Corrected entry: Just before his death, Dr. Morbius tells Cmdr. Adams that they must be 100 million miles away in 24 hours to be safe. By my calculations, they'd have to travel at 4,166,666 MPH to get that far away in the time allowed. Kinda makes light speed seem like child's play.

Correction: Well, while your calculations are entirely reasonable, your knowledge appears to be somewhat lacking. That's less than one percent of the speed of light, which tops out at a remarkable 671 million miles per hour.

Minority Report (2002)

Corrected entry: After Witwer is killed, Lara calls Burgess, who asks, "Has he got the precog with him?" to which Lara responds, "Yes". But Lara has never seen a precog. How would she know what a precog looks like?

Brad

Correction: Lara may not have seen one before, but it's hardly unreasonable for her to make the assumption that the woman with Anderton is the missing precog. Who else could she be? Anderton's hardly going to have stopped to pick up a date.

House, M.D. (2004)

Show generally

Corrected entry: In House M.D. season 7 titled "Now What?" They are looking for a neurosurgeon to replace the one that is sick. Foreman is a neurologist who would have studied neurosurgery, but they took the whole episode looking for a neurosurgeon.

freshjj123

Correction: Studying neurosurgery as part of neurology does not make one a qualified neurosurgeon. Foreman would undoubtedly be familiar with the basic practices involved, but he would by no means be qualified to take on that role.

300 (2006)

Corrected entry: In the closing scene of 300, where Dilios is looking out across the field, one of the Spartans behind him can be seen breaking ranks to deliberately peek at the camera. This occurs at the moment when Dilios says "sheer terror gripping tight." As if realizing his mistake, he quickly darts back into place.

Correction: Spartans can be seen moving through Dilios' speech, following him, shifting where they stand. Certainly the individual in question is looking towards the camera, but he's also looking towards where Dilios is standing, so it's not unreasonable that he might shift slightly to look at his commander, the renowned storyteller and sole survivor of the legendary 300, before shifting back into place.

Up (2009)

Corrected entry: When Mr. Erikson steers the house, we see a small needle compass. Being the needle type, it should have East on the left and West on the right. Facing North and turning right will get you East, but the needle will turn to your left following where North is.

Correction: Mr Fredricksen's compass appears to be completely normal, with East to the right of North and West to the left.

Robin Hood (2010)

Corrected entry: English archers repelling the French Army landing are lined up, single file, along the cliff's top edge. Wrong. One, they are shooting arrows into a prevailing on-shore wind, therefore, highly unlikely that their arrows would reach the French at water's edge; two, the archers are congregated into a block so that their arrows would arrive in a thick "hail"; and three, after launching their arrows, archers were expected to join the fray, something that they could not do in a timely manner.

Correction: So what are you claiming the mistake is? Poor tactics? Because that does happen. "Highly unlikely" is a poor choice of words for a mistake - it shows that this is an opinion on your part, which is not an acceptable basis for a mistake. Just because you feel that the battle should be run differently, that doesn't make it an error. You have to justify why this is a movie mistake and not just poor decisions by the characters.

Tailkinker

Corrected entry: If everything that happens in the past, determines what happens in the future, and there in between, then wouldn't it make more sense for the picture of the family, when it starts to come back, to have them dressed differently? Such is the case when they are in the new family scene, when they come back.

Correction: This is a question, not a mistake. There's no reason why they couldn't be wearing the same clothes in the altered timeline.

Lord of War (2005)

Corrected entry: Agent Valentine, determined to hold Yuri Orlov as long as possible without charges, leaves him handcuffed at his airplane in late afternoon and departs saying he'll be back in 23 hours and 55 minutes. We then see in fast motion as the natives dismantle the airplane overnight and finish early morning. Just about when they finish, agent Valentine returns to release Yuri, thus keeping him there much shorter than he said he will, going against his word to keep him there for almost a day.

Enso

Correction: So he changed his mind. Characters are allowed to do that, y'know.
